G8s Win Natick Turkey Shoot Out!

G8 also participated in their 5th consecutive Natick Thanksgiving Tournament. Game 1 was a decisive win over Sudbury 47-23.  Game 2 was another solid win over the Acton-Boxboro Catamounts 55-34.

Game 3 was the showcase matchup against a very tall, athletic and undefeated Natick team. The game was back and forth early on with G-D holding a slim 21-20 lead at the half. The G8's stretched their lead to 10 points in the second half and held on down the stretch to prevail 39-35. Hot shooting from Emma Wilson (11 points) and Abby Eisenklam (eight points, eight rebounds) paced G8.

B8 trekked to the Indoor Sports arena in Danvers over the weekend to play in a Thanksgiving tournament getting in 3 games over the break. After a tough two-point loss in the opener to North Reading, G-D easily defeated an overmatched Danvers team, 64-10, and then finished up with their best performance of the tournament with a 26-point victory over the Pentucket regional team, again putting up more than 60 points.

B8 came out strong against North Reading building a 11 point lead on several hoops in transition. The Hornets though got it together and ran off 10 points to cut the lead to 1 at half and eventually took a five point lead, 35-30. The Crusaders then fought back and had multiple chances in the last 90 seconds of the game but simply were not able to convert. Jack Foster played a strong first half as a facilitator and contributed six points. Sam Smethurst had a strong game as well, including a clutch bucket late in the game. Stephen Dzwonek contributed five points in second half, including a key three-pointer. Joe O'Malley led the team in scoring 15 points.

All 10 players contributed points in the Danvers game. Elias Jiser and Colin teDuits were dominant inside throughout the game, owning the boards, combining for 12 points, and with their defensive presence and shot blocking.

The team welcomed back Tyler Peck and Tim Stark from injury this weekend. Their presence was felt throughout, particularly in the third game. Peck hit four three-pointers while Stark was the spark in the first half with 11 points. Charlie Willis, scoring consistently through the tournament, played an outstanding defensive game against Pentucket as did Sammy Eggiman setting the tone with his hustle and providing key contributions offensively throughout the tournament. Joe O'Malley was once again a force on both ends, leading the team in scoring with 17 points.
