The fourth- and fifth-grade boys lost to Lunenburg 30-12.  Theo Murphy led G-D with four points.  Casey Trimper and Connor Buchman played tough defense and added two points each. Sam Ormsby played well all around and scored two points as well.

B5

The fifth-grade boys team returned to their winning ways with a hard-fought win at home against Acton-Boxborough, 31-24.  G-D's record now stands at 4-2 with the victory as they head into the second half of the season.  Andrew Stenstream overcame a bump on the head to lead the scoring with 13 points.  Taylor Wiercinski chipped in with nine and Finn Bernard added five.  Both Bernard and Wiercinski dropped in a three-pointer.  Will Vogel led the defense with five steals and four rebounds and Nate Spinale showed a cool head in the end as A-B stepped up the pressure to try and claw their way back into the game with some tough pressure in the last few minutes.

G6

The sixth-grade girls team had difficult time getting their offense started on Sunday and lost to Wachusett, 36-14.  Clare Joyce led G-D with five points and three rebounds, Brooke Barry added three points and two points each were contributed by Cassidy Lacombe, Lidia Spada, and Rebecca Brennan (four rebounds).

The sixth-grade boys played buzzer to buzzer against the leading Wachusett team today – taking an early lead with two three-pointers by Josh Dai and Jack Gerrish, and a couple of quick baskets by Chris Smith. Wachusett then put together several runs to go ahead for good in the game.  Lead scorer was Dai with10, followed by Smith with nine and Gerrish with three. Other scorers were Jem Booth (two points), Curtis Lacombe (two points) and Tommy Raymond (one point).  Final score was 63-27.

G7

The seventh- grade girls played a phenomenal game against conference powerhouse Nashoba. G-D started out shaky, allowing Nashoba to quickly jump out to a 17-2 edge largely because of G-D turnovers that Nashoba converted for easy layups. But, following the initial stretch of nerves, G-D settled down and played some of its best basketball of the year, outscoring Nashoba over the remainder of the game, which they ultimately lost 36-27. All G-D players played with intensity on defense, which was truly superb especially in the half-court set. On offense, G-D was led by point guard Kyleigh McDonald who controlled the offense and had a great game with nine points. Amanda Lacombe (seven points, three rebounds), Ali Vogel (six points, seven rebounds, three steals), and Olivia Shusta (two points, five rebounds) all looked very strong for G-D.

B7

The seventh grade boys beat the Acton-Boxboro Blue team in an exciting down-to-the-wire 39-37 finish.  Off to a strong start, the G-D set the pace with a strong coordinated offense and a solid 21-13 lead at the half.  But A-B emerged from half-time with an energized offense and focused defense, and whittled G-D’s lead to five points halfway through the second half.  G-D responded with an increased intensity and both teams gave an all-out effort for the final two minutes of play.  Once again, the B7s showed a strong team performance with either scoring points or defensive support from all players: Riley Curran, Brandon Wiercinski, Alex Bushnell, Matt Lamarre, Ryan Bernard, Andrew Watkins, Kyle Plausse, Dougie Tompkins, Jack Barry and Matt Fordham.

G8

The eighth-grade girls stayed undefeated in league play as they rolled past Leominster 45-22.  After trading a few baskets early on, the girls went on a roll and capped their first half run with an exciting deep, three-point, buzzer beater by Jillian Van Pelt, which put them ahead 25-9.

G-D opened up the second half on a 12-2 run and never looked back.  Emma Wilson hit back to back threes (15 points) to lead the team in scoring.  Abby Eisenklam delivered a great all-around game (six points, four rebounds, four steals, four assists, three blocks).  Bronwyn Mulligan played tremendous as well with six points, six rebounds and two blocks.  Molly Braley (five points, five steals) and Nicole Tammaro (five steals, four assists, two points) were also big contributors.

B8

The eighth-grade boys made the trek to Dover to take on the Dover-Sherborn Raiders in a successful crossover game with the Metro-West Travel League. B8 was victorious 69-31. G-D jumped out to a 13-0 lead and never looked back, closing the first half with a 15-point advantage. Swarming half-court defense and solid rebounding allowed G-Ds transition game to kick-in during the second-half where they put up 42 points. Jack Foster led the scoring, with 14 of his 16 points in the second half. Sammy Eggiman was a spark as well with great hustle and six points in the half. Tim Stark posted 15 points and played a particularly strong game on the defensive end. Elias Jiser and Stephen Dzwonek's rebounding was also key in the victory.
