How much is a dennis rodman basketball card worth

Top Dennis Rodman Cards, Rookie Cards, Autographs, Inserts, Valuable

Although he remains a controversial figure, Dennis Rodman helped the Chicago Bulls win multiple titles based on his rebounding ability. Over time, collectors developed a fondness for the feisty forward, making Dennis Rodman cards popular options among the retired basketball players.

Dennis Rodman is a lot of things. Although it seems the off-court Rodman overshadowed the athlete, first and foremost, Dennis Rodman is a basketball player. Never one to avoid the spotlight, he became infamous for his bizarre behavior, celebrity romances, and crazy fashion choices. Who can forget the many tattoos, piercings, and his fondness for changing his hair color? "The Worm," as he was known, followed his own path and his own rules.

Rodman is easily one of the most famous basketball players who is still more known for his non-basketball pursuits. It is this variety of interests that allows him to have a diverse group of collectors. The following list includes some of the best Dennis Rodman cards for collectors to own. In all honesty, this list could be comprised solely of late-1990s inserts or just his Exquisite autographs. However, the goal was the spread the cardboard love around.

See available Dennis Rodman cards with the most bids on eBay.

Additionally, Dennis Rodman has signed a fair amount of cards for products in recent years, so his autographs are generally not very hard to track down.

Although not included on the list, a great budget option for signature collectors is one of his Leaf autographs.

1988-89 Fleer Dennis Rodman #43 RC

  • Buy on eBay.

This early basketball card marks a much more low-key existence for Dennis Rodman. Although he was drafted in 1986, Rodman did not get his first rookie card until 1988-89 Fleer Basketball. The design is very plain and centering issues are a problem.

1993-94 Finest Dennis Rodman Refractor #173

  • Buy on eBay.

Just like Dennis Rodman, 1993-94 Finest was a flashy and colorful creation that had never been seen before. Although shocking at first, collectors have grown to love both Finest and Rodman. The card image shows the huge difference that a change of scenery and a few years made for Rodman. The Refractor parallels are very popular.

1996-97 Flair Showcase Dennis Rodman #9 Legacy Collection #/150

  • Buy on eBay.

1996-97 Flair Showcase brought a level of quality that few brands could match. The images were well-chosen, the finish was clear and the card stock was above average. Each base card features multiple "Rows," so there are basically three base cards per player, each with a different image. The real appeal from this product is the Legacy parallel for each Row, which is numbered to 150 and shown second.

1997-98 E-X2001 Jambalaya Dennis Rodman #3

  • Buy on eBay.

The rare Jambalaya inserts are some of the most popular options from late-90s basketball sets. The die-cut design, unique name and long odds make this a top option among Dennis Rodman cards.  The average card from the 15-card set is found 1:720 packs.

1997-98 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Dennis Rodman #107 #/100

  • Buy on eBay.

Another rare insert that has seen values skyrocket, the Precious Metal Gems parallel in 1997-98 Metal Universe has few rivals in the collecting world. The main red version has a total print run of 90 and goes nicely with the Chicago Bulls jersey. There is also a green version limited to only 10 cards.

1997-98 SkyBox Premium Autographics Dennis Rodman #91 Autograph

  • Buy on eBay.

Autographics marked a turning point in collecting and many years later, they still carry tremendous clout in the industry. The clean design pairs an image of Dennis Rodman with a blurred background, a large Skybox seal and an on-card signature. The Century Marks parallel (#/100) is pictured below.

1998-99 Skybox Thunder Noyz Boyz Dennis Rodman #13

  • Buy on eBay.

Although many basketball inserts from the 1990s have achieved a high-regard amongst collectors—read about the top NBA insert sets—Noyz Boyz was a very unique idea. The name, the bold color, and the die-cut design all helped distinguish it from other cards. If any player deserved inclusion amongst the Noyz Boyz, it was Dennis Rodman. Dropping at 1:300 packs, on average, these cards do not pop up often.

2012-13 Preferred Silhouettes Prime Dennis Rodman #203 Autographed Jersey #/10

  • View Dennis Rodman autographs on eBay.

One of the current Dennis Rodman cards that sees strong demand, the Silhouettes autographs patch cards found in 2012-13 Preferred were very well-received by collectors. With the prime version totaling only 10 cards, these jumbo patch cards feature an on-card signature. There is a base version of the card that includes a plain single-color swatch that is numbered to 15 copies.

The supply of autographs for the "Worm" is certainly not abundant, but there are multiple options from higher-end Panini sets in recent years.

Dennis Rodman Exquisite Collection Autographs

  • Buy on eBay.

Sure, this might be the easy way out. There are just a large amount of Exquisite autographs for Dennis Rodman, and they are all low-numbered and very popular. Exquisite owned high-end basketball for several years and there is nothing else that can compete from that time period.

The college cards that came later are solid, but most fans want Rodman's Bulls cards from '03-04 to '09-10.

2007-08 Exquisite Collection Finalists Autographs Dual Michael Jordan Dennis Rodman #FAJR

  • Buy Dennis Rodman / Michael Jordan dual autographs on eBay.

This particular Exquisite autograph deserves special recognition because it pairs Rodman with his former teammate, Michael Jordan. While Jordan was the face of the Chicago Bulls dynasty, Dennis Rodman was the hair. There are several other autographed cards that include the former teammates, some with Scottie Pippen, too, but all are rare.

Pearl Jam - NBA music: saving Rodman, drowning for Kemp, dissing Karim - NBA Video - Blogs Here we offer every day how you can keep yourself busy with something basketball, when there seems to be no basketball.

Seattle Pearl Jam SuperSonics

It's hard to imagine a decent musical group more associated with the sports league than Pearl Jam. Who else was named after the player and put his number in the title of the album? Who else went on tour with the star? Who else fought to keep their favorite club in their hometown?

For Seattle, Pearl Jam is inseparable from the most enchanting period in the history of the Supersonics - the early 90s, the heyday of grunge and the best years of the Payton-Kemp duo.

The club has connected basketball and music with the help of the appropriate frame. The main moments of the Sonics matches in those years were accompanied by recognizable tracks: Even Flow was intended to take out the opponent, Alive corresponded to the upcoming comeback, Go set the audience up for unbridled support in the fourth quarter, when the outcome seemed to be determined.

The Sonics of the mid-90s were consistently at the top of the Western Conference. Songs from the first and still the main album of the group were forever identified with victories. Bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard were regulars at Sonics games.

For the guys themselves, such a symbiosis with the NBA also turned out to be quite natural. Basketball accompanied them even before any fame.

Ament was the main point guard at school and continued to play further. True, after moving to Seattle, he had to hide it at first, and then now constant ridicule (from Kurt Cobain). Courtney Love's phrase "Come on, play basketball with Dave Grohl" he still remembers.

Vocalist Eddie Vedder also played. And also in secret. So secret that he only revealed it last week on Bill Simmons' podcast.

“After work, I went out to the site, where there was no one. I simultaneously listened to music and held the player in my left hand, and dribbled the ball with my right. Therefore, I never learned to do anything with my left hand ... I always played alone, alone on the entire site ... Two years after that, we were the opening act for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. To the side of the stage was a ring. And so Jeff and I took the ball and threw it, and at this time the Red Hot Chili Peppers themselves set up the sound and play exactly the music that I listened to in the player. And I thought, "But now I can use my left hand!" My shot was like George McGinnis, with one hand. It's more like I'm throwing a darts than a ball."

They collected basketball cards. Their studio had the obligatory posters of Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan. They used the NBA as a motivation. “Playing the instrument, I wanted to constantly feel inspired,” said Ament. - And on the guitar I wrote down the names of those basketball players that inspired me. When I felt that the fuse was drying up, I looked at the name of Nate Archibald and pissed with redoubled energy.

When the Sonics and Pearl Jam fired at the same time, it led to some memorable collaborations.

They starred in The Singles with their favorite Seattle player, Xavier McDaniel.

Accompanied the Sonics timeouts.

And agreed on one of the most famous posters of the era - Jeff Ament along with Shawn Kemp. It was given to fans in the fall of 1993.

“I rooted for them like crazy,” said Ament. - For 10 years I had a subscription to the Sonics matches. Back then I lived two blocks from Key Arena and saw about 35 games a year. I even entered the circle of people close to the team. He knew Sean Kemp well, became friends with Frank Brickowski. My blood may not have turned green-gold, but I did everything else.

And, of course, forever merged with the best moments performed by the brightest player in the history of the Sonics.

Five for all time. Seattle

Pearl Jam - Rock Mooky Blaylock

Pearl Jam launched in six days: found a vocalist in Eddie Vedder, rehearsed and recorded three songs for the first demo. A week later, on October 22, 1990, they played their first concert.

Nobody bothered with the name, so they came on stage as "Mooky Blaylock". Back then, the Nets point guard had not yet been to the All-Star Game (his only career), but he was oddly the perfect symbol for the newly formed grunge collective. Blaylock had a bald head, stern appearance and pronounced musculature and, even without being a star, was remembered for uncompromising defense and power passes. In general, he left a strong impression with minimal means.

“When we recorded the first record, we had 10 bucks for every day,” Ament explained the history of the name. “And so, when we took lunch from the store across the street, we always bought a box of basketball cards as well. After recording, we didn't have a name yet - so we put a Mooky Blaylock card on the tape. We had to go on tour, and immediately needed at least some kind of name. We were told it wouldn't have to be permanent, just something for the tour. Someone saw Blaylock's card and said, "Why not Mooky Blaylock?" So we decided to go on a 10 day tour with Alice in Chains called Mookie Blaylock. Muki didn't mind - he didn't file a lawsuit against us. We got to know him even after a few years and dropped a little. We also released Pearl Jam T-shirts with his image. So, apparently, we owe him a lot ...

I liked Muki. He played very altruistically, he threw well, he knew how to do everything.

Pearl Jam's first album came out in August '91. It was called Ten. Number ten, of course, was Mooky Blaylock.

The very name of Pearl Jam is not simple either.

Eddie Vedder originally explained that he had a grandmother named Pearl. Grandma is married to an Indian and loves to make hallucinogenic peyote cactus jam.

Many years later it turned out that these were all fabrications.

The issue of the name was decided collectively. And the version with the “pearl” was first proposed by Jeff Ament (“jam” from “jam session” was added later). As a result, the name, of course, acquired additional meanings and shades, but everyone knows that Pearl is actually the nickname of Earl Monroe.

The band never forgot their basketball roots.

In 2013, Mooky Blaylock, while driving under the influence of alcohol, ran into the oncoming lane and caused a head-on collision. The woman in the other car died from her injuries. Subsequently, the former NBA player received 15 years in prison.

Immediately after the accident, the group wished Blaylock a speedy recovery.

Sending good thoughts to Mookie.

Pearl Jam saved Dennis Rodman

The main themes of the album "Ten" - loneliness, depression, suicide ...

That is exactly the ones that especially worried Detroit forward Dennis Rodman in February 1993.

A full description of everything that happened is in his autobiographies, but here is a short fragment where an important group for him is mentioned.

“It happened at the end of my seventh and final season with the Pistons, the team was getting worse. We ended the season sixth in our division with a 40-42 record, not even making the playoffs. But just three years before that we were champions. A great team was destroyed piece by piece, and it seemed to me that my life was destroyed in the same way.

When I came to the arena, there was no one around. I worked like crazy. I burned my body to the bone - I pulled iron and listened to Pearl Jam. There was no one else in the world: only me, iron and music. I tried to put all the pain that permeated my body into these stinking pieces of iron.

When I listen to Pearl Jam, their music tells me what matters most. It's hard for me to explain, it's just that their music is very realistic, it allows you to think about everything that is happening around. At such moments, I do not need support, what I have inside is enough for me.

Then I thought about how life had fucked me, what kind of shit I had to go through...

I worked out for two hours, I was completely exhausted, then I returned to the car. When I walked down the street, I just thought: “Fuck it all!” Trunk in the car. Everything was so easy...

The barrel was in the car, under the seat. I turned on Pearl Jam, pulled out a gun and wondered if I could do it. I realized that I could do it. I realized that I could gouge my idiotic head.

It was painful. Life, which looked beautiful from the outside, was in reality completely empty: I could not be the person that people around me wanted to see me.

Many years later, Pearl Jam was no longer just the backdrop for a failed suicide. Dennis Rodman claimed that it was their songs that made him change his mind.

“There was a weapon in the car, I took it in my hand. For some unknown reason, I turned on the music. I listened to music, and we seemed to be arguing with her. It had nothing to do with basketball. This was due to the fact that I needed love, and I felt alone. I felt betrayed. And so the song begins. It was a Pearl Jam album, tracks Even Flow and Black and all that. And I have a weapon in my lap. And then I fell asleep listening to music. When I woke up, there were policemen around. They pulled me out of the car… I think it was their Ten album that saved my life.”

Very soon after that strange night, Rodman met the musicians. He went on tour with them for several weeks, often went on stage, hung out after performances, even demanded that he be allowed to play drums.

Their friendship stemmed not only from the world of music, but also from the world of the NBA.

Eddie Vedder said that Rodman's triumph in Chicago remained his main impression of basketball - together with the player, they jumped into the crowd after defeating Utah.

At the same time, Phil Jackson saw something positive in their relationship.

“We were trying to have a positive effect on him,” Vedder explained. - They told him: "Dennis, calm down, sit down, read a book" . ..

I'll tell you a story. It was in Seattle. Chicago had practice, they were supposed to play the next day. We go into the lobby, there is Phil Jackson and smokes a cigar. He waved his hand at me. Meanwhile, Dennis' bodyguard George gives us three tickets to Vegas. I ask, “What the hell is this, Dennis? I brought you a book, let's sit on the sofa, read, relax. And I myself think: “It's six o'clock now. If we fly to Vegas, we won't get there until nine. Hang around somewhere until the morning, do I need it? Phil also looks at me dumbfounded: “What the hell is with the tickets?”. But, of course, since Dennis has a knack for persuasion, we go to the airport. We run through the airport, everyone around sees Dennis and runs after us. All old ladies love Dennis Rodman. Such a stream of people is formed. Everyone screams "Dennis, Dennis!" Let's fly to this fucking Vegas. We take a car, we arrive: Jane's Addiction is performing there, Flea is with them. We sit next to the stage, drinking beer. Jane's Addiction is on fire, playing the Mountain song, which is a great song by the way. And then Dennis tells us: “That’s also relaxing, isn’t it?” We got back from Las Vegas and the next day he had 20 rebounds or so."

Rodman is not just a freak. He's a lot cooler than you think

Pearl Jam got mad at Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Jeff Ament hasn't lost his passion for basketball over the years.

He constantly participated in various VIP tournaments. And somehow, during a match in New Zealand, he broke the nose of a gaping student.

“It happened purely by accident. One huge New Zealander hung over me, he was two meters tall, thirty kilograms heavier than me. We fought for the outgoing ball, I got to the ball, but fell. And after that he stood over me and did not let me get up. I showed him that I was getting up, pushed him with my shoulder and elbows. And when he got up, he accidentally touched his nose with his elbow. And he broke.

It was terrible. Terrible, because he seemed like a very nice guy. We had a nice chat before the match… We saw him later in the crowd during the concert and waved him, “Hey man, I’m sorry”… He had eyes like a raccoon and a bandage on his nose. And I said: “Yes, look how huge it is. It is hardly worth pitying him."

In the 90s, Ament's love of basketball led him to MTV's Rock N' Jock, a show that brought together professional athletes and musicians.

There he met Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who was acting as a coach. When Ament confessed his love to the legend, he did not react in any way and thus caused frustration in the musician. So strong that it led to one of the worst songs in the band's history.

In his essay, Ament emphasizes exclusively the virtues of a great basketball player: “You can fly”, “Wilt can’t do anything against you”, “I grew up copying you: Bruce Lee, kung fu, jazz, yoga”… But weaves between compliments the cry of the soul: “How could you do this? How could you upset me like that?"

With the exception of the title Sweet Lew (Karim reacts nervously when his real name is mentioned), there was nothing critical about the song. But Abdul-Jabbar heard the main message. Ament spoke exactly about the dismissive attitude for which the center was criticized all his life. And he began to change for the better by making peace with the musician.

Pearl Jam fought for the Sonics

The leaders of three of the four major grunge bands are dead. Seattle lost the SuperSonics.

Pearl Jam had a hard time accepting the loss of their favorite club. For several years, Eddie Vedder experienced a “breakup with his girlfriend” and cursed not only Oklahoma, which stole the Sonics, but also Sacramento, the team from which almost moved to Seattle.

The group participated in the actions of the fans of Seattle, protesting against the move.

“It all happened really fast with the Sonics,” Ament said. The club has been sold. Clay Bennet said: "We will leave the team in the city ..." After four months, they left. This is a very painful topic for everyone who has followed this story.

They insisted that there was no proper arena in the city. David Stern kept saying, "This arena is the worst in the league." I specifically went to different radio stations and said: “I played in all these arenas, and it is obvious that she is not the worst in the league. She's average." Places like Auburn Hillis in Detroit and Target Center in Minnesota are much worse.

I think it's all politics. It seems to me that everything was decided by the fact that Oklahoma saved New Orleans after Katrina, then who should have been paid. A great Sonicsgate documentary was made about it."

After the move, the ghost of Seattle haunted Oklahoma for quite some time. And where there is the ghost of Seattle, Pearl Jam was sure to appear: talk about the club's past quickly dried up and returned only with angry, albeit monotonous rebukes from Gary Payton, but Kevin Durant's jerseys always attracted attention. The forward has repeatedly appeared in the symbols of the city he was drafted by.

Even though basketball is no longer in Seattle, the Pearl Jam/NBA connection is still there: Jeff Ament still hangs out with some of the coaches and players, goes to basketball all the time, Dennis Rodman and Brent Barry still idolize the band, their music still opens the most popular (and often sports) podcast in the States...

And their favorite team is still the same.

“It took me a few years, but I still started rooting for Oklahoma,” said Ament. - For this, of course, I get hit by the guys in the local hall where I play. They've been great to watch over the years, with Russell Westbrook showing himself to be the most explosive player of all time, short of an early Jordan. And now it's great - behind this sensational team with Chris Paul.

Chamberlain not only dominated the NBA, starred in films with Schwarzenegger and challenged Ali. Turns out Wilt also sang

Best sneakers in Dennis Rodman's career reviews, news and interviews on the StreetBall blog

10 amazing pairs

During his colorful and memorable career, Dennis Rodman has played in Reebok sneakers, become the face of some Nike models and received cool pairs from converse.

Let's take a look at the top 10 models Dennis gnawed on rebounds and dazzled on the court, let's go!

10. Nike Air Revolution (1988)

Dennis started his outrageous NBA journey with Reebok, but after a couple of years he signed a contract with Nike, becoming the champion with Detroit twice in their sneakers. In the 88/89 season, Rodman wore the Air Revolution, which featured an ultra-high profile, tie-down strap and visible Air tank.

9. Converse Chuck Taylor All Star

In 1997, Rodman became a spokesperson for Converse, and one of the terms of the deal was that Dennis would occasionally appear off the court at Chuck Taylor All Star. It wasn't much of an issue, Rodman has always loved sneakers and continues to shine in the Converse classic even now.

8. Nike Air Worm Ndestrukt (1996) In 1996, Nike Basketball introduced Dennis' first signature Nike Air Worm Ndestrukt. Like Rodman, Air Worm was like nothing else. The pair fully reflected the forward's rock and roll style.

But Dennis didn't end up playing with these shoes, preferring the Air Shake Ndestrukt, which we'll get to later.

7. Converse All Star '91 (1997)

Converse All Star '91 accompanied Dennis during the 1997 NBA Playoffs. The genuine leather model was released in several colors, including the colors of Bulls.

6. Converse D-Rod High (1998)
