How to make a basketball return system
The Best Basketball Return Systems of 2022
When I was a kid, I spent many hours shooting hoops in the driveway of my parent’s house. This driveway wasn’t exactly a regulation-sized basketball court: the front end of the sidewalk was our free-throw line, there were walls on each side of the narrow driveway, and the cobbled pavement was slanted significantly towards the street. Forget about working on your dribbling in these conditions!
But it turns out that the slanted driveway was a huge plus for working on my free throws. I could spend hours shooting the ball, and if I swished a shot the ball would automatically return to me. I only recognized this advantage later when I was shooting hoops on a perfectly even basketball court – rebounding my misses significantly reduced the number of shots I could get up in an hour!
That’s where basketball return systems come into play. They will rebound your made shots (and some will rebound your misses too) and help you to maximize the number of shot attempts you can take.
In this article, I am going to explain the differences between various types of basketball return machines and show you which one will work best for you.

As you can see, there are many different types of basketball return machines on the market. But how do you find the perfect one for you? There are a couple of questions you should ask yourself:
Do you miss a lot of shots?
The most basic and affordable rebounding systems like the Spalding Back Atcha are attached to the bottom of the ring and only change the direction of basketballs that are actually falling through the net. – you still need to rebound misses yourself!
If you are making 90% of your free throws, this won’t pose much of a problem, but if you are still a beginner, rebounding systems like that won’t help you much.
More advanced basketball return nets will also rebound shots that bounce off the ring, but if you want a system that returns 100% of your shots you will need to invest in a more professional basketball return machine like the iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer .
Do you want to work on your corner three?
A lot of return systems will always return the basketball towards the free throw line no matter where you shot from. If you want to work on your corner three, that’s counterproductive as you need to run towards the middle of the court after every shot!
If you’re going to work on your bank shot take a look at the SKLZ Kick-Out 360 or the iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer that allow you to adjust the direction of the rebound.
The Top 5 Basketball Return Systems:
Spalding Back Atcha
The Spalding Back Atcha is probably the most affordable basketball return system on the market. It is made from thick plastic and comes with two hooks that attach to the back of the rim. If you make a shot, the basketball will hit the plastic structure after passing the net and will be kicked slightly towards the free-throw line.

The success rate of this mechanism varies somewhere between 50% – 95%, depending on the length and material of your net (nylon or metal?) and how well the plastic hooks attach to the hoop. However, don’t expect long shots to be returned all the way to the three-point line. Also, the rebound of the ball will always go towards the middle of the court which can be annoying if you are shooting from an angle.
Overall, the Spalding Back Atcha is a very affordable basketball return system that you can attach to most hoops within seconds. While it doesn’t do a perfect job of returning made shots and won’t return misses at all, it will still allow you to save a lot of time. Chasing down the rebound after every second shot is still much better than running every time!
The SKLZ 360 works very similarly to the Spalding Back Atcha presented before, but the mechanism is a bit more complex and versatile.
The installation is pretty simple: If you own an height-adjustable basketball hoop you just lower the hoop and clip the four hooks to the rim. Otherwise, you will probably need a small ladder unless you’re 7ft tall.

The chute of the SKLZ 360 hangs about 28 inches below the rim and does a great job of returning the ball. The best feature of this chute is the fact that you can rotate it by 360 degrees! This way you can get the basketball returned no matter where you are shooting from. Small kids will not be able to do this on a 10ft hoop, but anybody taller than 5’8″ should be able to do it without a ladder or lowering the hoop.
The quality of the SKLZ 360 is a lot better than the Spalding Back Atcha, but some people still report that the chute might change direction on its own and that the plastic hooks won’t last forever. However, you should be able to fix these issues with a little bit of duct tape and metal wire ties.
Overall, this is a basketball return system with much-improved functionality that I can recommend if you are looking for something you can attach and detach easily. The only downside: it doesn’t rebound missed shots.
Goaliath Basketball Return Net
Goaliath is known for producing high-quality in-ground basketball hoops but they also sell accessories that make the life of basketball players easier.
This basketball return system is the first in this article that can rebound missed shots too. That’s especially useful for beginners who are still missing a majority of their attempts.

The installation is pretty simple: You attach the webbing harness to the metal bar at the top of the net and pull this harness over the back of the rim. On the other side, the net is attached to two bags that you can fill with water or sand.
The Goaliath return net especially well if you want to prevent the ball from going into the neighbor’s yard or a thorny bush of roses. However, if you are looking for a system that will replace your buddy passing you the ball while you are moving along the 3-point line, then you better keep looking.
SKLZ Rapid Fire II
The SKLZ Rapid Fire II is comparable to the Goaliath net but comes with one significant difference: the net is attached to two hip height stands. This small change is fantastic because you no longer have to bend down to collect rebounds. Instead, you receive the ball in a much more natural shooting position.

This ball return system easily attaches to the top-left and top-right corner of any metal frame backboard, unfortunately, it won’t work for molded backboards. The net is held by two adjustable metal arms that extend from the top of the backboard. By placing the stands differently and rotating the arms of the net, you can direct the rebounds to different spots on the court. You can also use the net as a ball stop by fully folding back the arms.
Overall, the SKLZ Rapid Fire is a very versatile basketball rebounding system that allows you to get shots up at a much higher frequency because you receive the basketball in a position that comes close to a regular pass in a game.
iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer
The iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer plays in a different league than all the other rebounding systems presented so far. It’s an affordable entry-level model by Dr. Dish Basketball, a well-known company that also builds basketball passing machines that cost thousands of dollars and are used by professional basketball players.
The iC3 is made of a sturdy steel frame that you hang over the back end of the rim and fix to the pole of your basketball hoop. If your basketball hoop doesn’t have a pole, you can still use the iC3 if your backboard is at least 60 inches wide.

The net stretches over the rim and catches almost every missed shot. This design also forces you to shoot with a proper arc and actually improves your technique. The net funnels the ball into a small ramp that you can rotate by 180 degrees to receive rebounds in every position on the court. The rebounding system is not very fast, but if you use two basketballs you can shoot nonstop rapid-fire style!
The iC3 Basketball Shot trainer is by far the most professional rebounding system that is still affordable and doesn’t cost thousands of dollars. If you are an ambitious basketball player and you want to work on your shot, then this is the system to get!
Conclusion
I recommend you to go for the iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer . It’s the most expensive system in this roundup, but also by far the best! It rebounds almost 100% of your shots, you can change the direction of the rebounds, and it even forces you to improve the arc of your shot!
If you are looking for a cheaper option and you are a pretty good shooter, then the SKLZ 360 is a good option too.
If your kids are learning to play basketball in the driveway and you want to prevent the ball from bouncing into the neighbor’s garden then check out the Goaliath Basketball Return Net .

Rating Criteria
Here we’ll be reviewing some of the best basketball return systems, but before that, I want to be clear about the criteria that we rate them on. The criteria for judging the product will be as follows:
Functionality – the better the functionality, the better the chances of a great review as we all benefit from it.
Durability – durability is important for a product of this category and, hence, is an important point to note.
Customer Satisfaction – significantly effects the overall product review. If the product has satisfied customers in the past, it is obviously going to do great.
So now that we’ve explained the criteria, without further ado, let’s see the best basketball return systems in the market.
Top Return System Choices with Guard Nets
iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer
When talking about the best basketball return systems in the market, there is no way the iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer doesn’t make it to the list. The iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer has been on the market for quite some time now. The product is feature packed with a fabulous price tag ready to train your little one in their new favorite sport. Let’s shed some light on the main features that the iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer has packed.
For starters, the iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer wants you to train smarter and better. The product focuses on its repetition based model and how it changes the way things are done. With this product, you can make up to 16 shots per minute! What that means is that you’ll be practicing 300% more than without the product.
Usually, when you train, you train with the same types of shots or just end up dunking the ball. That isn’t the case with the iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer. The proper arch shooting system with three triangularly placed nets allows you to practice your 3 pointers, 2 pointers, long shots, high reps, and pretty much everything at a faster rate. This trains your mind at a higher work rate. When you make 16 shots per minutes, your brain naturally trains your muscles to take the perfect shot.
I personally prefer the iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer for its ability to return the ball back to you, hence not letting you waste any time on chasing the ball. Just aim, shoot, and repeat as the high rep shot trainer at the bottom of the basket will return the ball back to you by the time you’re ready to make the next shot.
Now let us weigh the pros and cons of the product:
PROS:
Durability – The system is durable enough to help you make 16 shots per minutes. Usually, at this rate, basketball return systems start breaking, but the iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer stays strong.
Feature Packed – The iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer comes with an excellent set of features that are not available on the market at the moment.
Excellent Rep Training – The excellent high rep training at 16 shots per minute makes sure you or your child are training the muscles for the perfect shots.
Customer Satisfaction – Around 90% of the customers who have used the iC3 Basketball Shot Trainer are very satisfied with the product, which says a lot.
CONS:
Expensive – While it seemed to us that the product is perfectly priced, many of the customers believe it to be a bit over the budget.

Verdict
Double thumbs up! The product gets an A in all departments from me. It might sound a bit expensive to some but is a great investment nonetheless.

SKLZ Rapid Fire II
Next on the list is the SKLZ Rapid Fire II, which is not far behind any of the products mentioned here. Creating results is important, and that’s what the SKLZ Rapid Fire II focuses the most on with a return net that measures 13.75 feet long by 12.75 feet wide, which is more than enough to make sure your ball returns safely. I personally didn’t like the design of the product as the net secures return only for balls at the front and not at the back. However, for athletes with basket boards stuck on the roof or garage gate, it works perfectly. The return rate of the ball is just slightly slower.
I prefer buying the product especially to train for long shots and 3 pointers that need to be taken from one specific place. Each time you change position, you have to reposition the whole net, which can be a daunting task.
The quality of the net is a bit questionable. The folks at SKLZ claim that the product can withstand different weathers and is sufficiently durable. However, the customers tell a different story. Even though the product has 90% customer satisfaction rate, some customers feel that the plastic product ends up breaking or at least cracking.
Let us now distribute the pros and cons of the product, shall we?
PROS:
Customer Satisfaction – The customer satisfaction level is about 90% on this product which is obviously a lot.
Easy to Use – The product is easy to set up and use anywhere you want. The nets are longer than you would expect, and the rubber-based points can be moved as per your position to take the shot of your choice.
Ideal for Garage Front Practice – For people who have basket boards on their garage front or the roof, this is the ideal product.
CONS:
Durability – The durability, in fact, is a bit of a problem as per the reviews from the customers. There are reports of the plastic breaking or cracking.
Verdict
All in all, the SKLZ Rapid Fire II is a great product to buy to practice hoops and not spend a fortune.

Goaliath Basketball Return System
The Goaliath Basketball Return System is a new product by a not-so-new company that has been in the market for quite some time i.e. Goalrilla. Usually, the company focuses on products that are more soccer-centric, but with the Goaliath Basketball Return System, it’s aiming to compete in the basketball market. As all newcomers in an undiscovered market, the folks at Goalrilla tried its best but made a few mistakes, which we’ll come back to later.
The Goaliath Basketball Return System has a design very similar to the previous product that we were discussing. The dimensions are around 23″ x 9″ x 4″ and the weight is just a bit more than 5 lbs. Perfectly positioning the net can be easy thanks to the size and weight proportions. The dimensions also make it compatible with most of the in-ground basketball hoop systems. The product also comes with a 90-day warranty to make you feel safe after the purchase. The two heavy-duty anchors that come with the product can easily be filled with sand to keep it steady. For free throw practice, the product is ideal in its form and is one of a kind. The warranty, however, is just for 90 days only, which is not enough for such product in my opinion.
Let us look at the pros and cons of the product to discuss them in detail.
PROS:
Product Design – Yes, the product only gives you the ability to practice free throws and 3 pointers, but it is perfect for that specific purpose.
Customer Satisfaction – The customers that used the Goaliath Basketball Return System were very satisfied with it. Even though there are a few minor flaws, the pros outweigh them.
Price – The well-budgeted price tag is one of the best on this list, which is one of the many reasons why customers say it provides value for money.
CONS:
Quality – The quality of the product design is very bad. Several people have reported how fragile the product is.
Short Warranty Time – A warranty of 90 days isn’t enough to judge a product so fragile. Some users reported that the quality of the product was not too good.
Verdict
All in all, if you’re looking for a good product to practice your free throws on, then this product definitely is the one you need to get. It might be a bit fragile, but the quality of the product makes up for everything.

Rolbak Net Gold
As the name suggests, the Rolbak Net Gold makes it easy for you to train better. Unlike the Goaliath, this product is made to make sure you practice your shots from every direction. The net allows the users to make shots in any direction and can be repositioned. You can take repeat shots one after another to get nothing but the best results. Also, you can easily make sure that your balls return right back to you when you’re done taking a shot. This saves you time and allows your mind to train your muscles in memorizing the direction of the shot taken.
The next thing that makes this product the one to buy is the ease of attachment. It is no mystery that most of the products that are easy to use are loved by audiences worldwide. The folks at Rolbak made this product as easy to use as possible so that your child can use it whenever they want.
Where others use sandbags, the Rolbak Net Gold Basketball Return Net uses a water bag to stay connected to the ground. However, similar to others on this list, there have been many reports that the water bag isn’t durable at all. While the netting was personally tested by our team and it turns out to be very durable, the water bag isn’t. Most users reported how it started to leak in just a few months. But even if that happens, there is a solid money-back guarantee to satisfy you.
Let’s have a look at the combined list of pros and cons.
PROS:
Money-Back Guarantee – The Dazadi money-back guarantee provides you a 90-day replacement guarantee for all parts. In case you’re not satisfied, the folks at Rolbak will even refund your money completely. Keep in mind that this lasts only 90 days.
Easy Installation – The easy installation allows you to assemble the whole setup anytime you want. Even your kids can easily assemble the Rolbak system themselves.
State-of-the-Art Design – The state-of-the-art design allows you to perform well. The basketball return system lets you save time by removing the need to run after basketballs and allowing you to focus on shots.
CONS:
Durability Issues – There have been many cases of durability issues with the Rolbak Net Gold Basketball Return Net. Customers have reported that the water bag starts to leak after a short time.
Verdict
I personally think that the Rolbak Net Gold Basketball Return Net is one of the best products on the market right now. Sure, it has a few cons, but at the end of the day, the product is better than hundreds on the market.

Ball Kick-Out Rim Add-Ons
If you are not that good at shooting, then this is an add-on you should get, as it will kick the ball back to you after you have made the shot. These add-ons are very useful for free-throw shooting practice.
SKLZ Kick-Out 360 Degree
It takes a good brand to make it to the list of a specific category easily. However, it takes a great brand to make it to the same list twice and SKLZ is definitely that brand.
With the SKLZ Kick-Out 360 Degree Ball Return System, you don’t have to buy a complete netted ball return system for just one function.
This simple add-on to your board can give you a complete ball return system that can easily be used to get the ball back to right where you’re standing. There’s no need to run around the parking lot or the gym just to catch the ball again.
You can take numerous shots from different directions to master your skills and train your muscles perfectly.
The durability of the product is amazing, and it lasts even in tough seasons. However, some may question its design. Even though the SKLZ Kick-Out 360 Degree Ball Return System has a superb design, due to its feature of revolving the whole contraption in whichever direction, it moves when the ball gets in contact with the basket.
Some say it only happens when it isn’t set up properly, but since there were many complaints pointing toward this issue, I added it to the list.
PROS:
Easy Setup – Where there are hundreds of systems on the market that can’t be set up very easily, this system can be set up without any problems.
Rotating Chute – The rotating chute allows you to easily fix the ball return system at one specific place when taking a shot. It also allows you to take shots from different directions.
Durable – Unlike many others on this list, the SKLZ Kick-Out 360 Degree Ball Return System is built to last even during the toughest seasons.
CONS:
Bad Design – While the revolving chute design seems to be like a great idea, it doesn’t work very well. Many customers have reported it to be an issue while practicing.
Verdict
The product has had some flaws reported, but the list of pros for the product combines with the amazing price tag to easily take the cake.

SKLZ Shoot-Around Trainer
With another entry of the same product line. I’m sure SKLZ has impressed every basketball enthusiast with their products. It is undoubtedly leading the market with its unique and efficient basketball return systems. This time, the SKLZ Shoot-Around makes our list, and it is a great product if you need a small yet useful item which brings a lot of value.
This product is also my favorite on the list because it fixes tons of issues that were faced by many in previous products by SKLZ.
Let’s start with the obvious difference between the SKLZ Shoot-Around and other products on the list, which is regarding design. The SKLZ Shoot-Around is an easy-to-revolve basketball return system, but it doesn’t revolve on impact. Now, that is excellent news.
The SKLZ Shoot-Around snaps on the base of the basket board and the hoop and has an easy installation system, but it doesn’t revolve. It stays still in any direction you’ve fixed it. This allows you to make repetitive shots and train your brain. The SKLZ Shoot-Around can also be used in any direction, which means you can practice your shots easily.
Let’s weigh the pros and cons of the product, shall we?
PROS:
Excellent Design – The product is excellently designed and allows you to make sure you practice at your very best. Specifically made for repetitive shots, the SKLZ Shoot-Around is perfect for practice in every direction possible.
Durability – The durability of the SKLZ Shoot-Around is top notch and is perfect for hardcore training sessions.
Warranty Secured – For a product that’s so good, the 90-day warranty is more than enough to get around. If there ever is a manufacturing issue, it can be fixed in this period.
CONS:
Unattractive – Some people consider the SKLZ Shoot-Around to be a bit unattractive, but that isn’t a very big deal if you ask me.
Verdict
All in all, this product gets a 10/10 from me. It is easy to install as well as easy to use. What else do you need? Get the SKLZ Shoot-Around today!

There are countless return systems for basketball training on the market, but this list focuses on getting you only the best ones.
If you’re looking to get your kid or yourself one of the best basketball return systems available, then choosing between one of reviewed ones would be the best way to go.
How to learn how to spin a basketball on your finger
To skillfully spin a basketball on your finger, you need to learn a few simple techniques, find the ball and set aside 10 minutes of training per day. After a week of practicing your skills, you will master the technique of this trick and show it to your friends. In the step-by-step instructions below, we will show you how to learn how to spin a basketball on your finger.
Tossing the ball correctly
You can train on the sports ground, near the house or even in the apartment, but in any place you need to take into account the environment. For example, when practicing a trick in a room, the ball can bounce and break fragile objects. When a place is found and inventory is prepared, you can begin training. Initially, you need to learn how to properly hold and throw the ball in the air:
Hold the ball with the stripes vertical. Horizontal scrolling looks ineffective and it is very difficult to catch a projectile from this position.
Select throw method:
Two hands. You need to keep the ball not on the sides, but so that 1 hand “looks” at you, and the second from you. Having fixed the object, sharply spread your arms and slightly “throw” the ball up.
With one hand. To throw with one hand, place your fingers along the lines of the ball. It is important that there is free space between the palm and the inventory. Lightly squeeze the ball. Turn the brush outward until it stops, and then gently turn it back. At the last moment, you need to give additional rotation to the ball with your fingertips. But we do not recommend using a large one, because. this will upset the balance and the ball will fly away.
Throw the ball parallel to the floor, do not allow the ball to wobble. It is important that when thrown, the projectile rises above eye level. When its bottom surface is visible, the ball is easier to catch.
These steps must be repeated until fully automatic. Usually it takes two days. When the throws are confident, you can move on to the second level.
Learning to catch the ball
Once you have learned how to throw correctly, try catching the ball with your finger. To do this, remember the following nuances:
You need to catch the projectile on the nail, not the finger itself. In this case, it is important that the brush is turned with the palm towards you.
The finger must be placed strictly in the center, at the junction of the vertical lines, otherwise the ball will slide off.
When your finger touches the ball, gently and smoothly lower your hand down. So you will improve the cushioning, the inventory will not bounce, and you will not damage your finger.
This stage is one of the most difficult and requires patience on the part of the freestyler, athlete and just wanting to master the skill. When you learn how to catch the ball, at first it can control you: jump off and make you “run” after it to keep your balance. Be patient and keep practicing.
Once you are comfortable with a spinning ball, try to keep it spinning and spin it further. To do this, with light flapping movements, move your free hand along a tangent. But remember that strong twists can shift the center of gravity and the projectile will lose balance.
Tips
Here are some helpful tips from the pros:
practice throwing a few times a day before moving on to other stages;
workouts can be quite tiring, so take breaks between sets to give your hands a rest;
use only a well-inflated ball;
when accelerating the rotational movements, do not apply much force, otherwise the ball will slip off the finger;
Trim your nails before practicing, this will increase rotation control;
do not throw the ball very high: you can damage or break the phalanges;
You can reduce the risk of wrist injury by warming up before practicing the exercise.
Knowing how to spin a basketball on your finger and approaching the matter responsibly, in a week you will be able to show a cool trick to friends or sports colleagues.

Respect! You can't sit on an inflated basketball and kick it with your feet, like a football, with the force of throwing a ball on a hospital object - as a result of this ball, it's already losing its shape and coming into ineptitude.
Inflate a basketball in the appropriate manner: put 1-2 drops of special oil on the opening of the nipple or neck, take the ball by the panel, where the nipple is located, insert it into the new neck, inflate the ball to the value indicated in the tables.
We strongly recommend vicarious oil. Special oil is not only ahead of valve slippage and nipple walls, but it also makes the material of the nipple more elastic, protecting it from drying out.
The neck is also due to a special tool for inflating balls, and the tip of the neck is due to a tool equal, smooth, without sharp edges and burrs.
ATTENTION! Always vicorate the vowels for the nipple or the ball, in the other case, you risk damaging the nipple and lose it without a ball.
