The #20 Connecticut Huskies will take on the Iowa State Cyclones at 10 p.m. ET Sunday at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter. These two teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous games.
While not quite a landslide, the contest between UConn and the Alabama Crimson Tide this past Friday was still a pretty decisive one as the Huskies wrapped it up with an 82-67 win. UConn can attribute much of their success to forward Adama Sanogo, who had 25 points, and guard Tristen Newton, who had nine points and eight assists.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Iowa State beat the North Carolina Tar Heels 70-65 this past Friday. Guard Caleb Grill took over for Iowa State, finishing with 31 points (a whopping 44% of their total).
UConn is the favorite in this one, with an expected 5.5-point margin of victory. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a four-game streak of ATS wins.
The Huskies are now a perfect 7-0 while the Cyclones sit at 5-0. A couple numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: UConn comes into the matchup boasting the 17th most points per game in college basketball at 85. 9. But Iowa State enters the matchup with only 55.8 points allowed per game on average, good for 16th best in college basketball. These opposing strengths should make for an exciting matchup.

Iowa State Football Preview 2020
The Cyclones finished the 2019 season with a 5-1, 2 game overall record They were better offensively than ever with 418 points (that's 32. 2 games), the most in program history.
Led by young quarterback Brock Purdy, they're going to be even better this year. Purdy had a breakthrough year in 2019: 3982 yards, 27 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 13 games. He completed over 66 percent of his passes, and he also had 249 yards and eight points on the ground so he could play defense.
Head coach Matt Campbell knows he has a real gem in Purdy and he praised his young signalman last week.
I don't really know what a five-star talent is because I would prefer Brock Purdy to any quarterback in the country, Campbell said. But in terms of leadership, I would say that when this guy is consistent and when this guy is the same every day, it always gives your football team a chance to succeed. And we are definitely sure that we have a very talented player in terms of skills, but even more talented in terms of mental state and leadership. We are very lucky to have such a leader. As for me, I am grateful to Brock for leading it. I feel that we have grown as a program, as has Brock.
All arrows point to this Cyclone offense, but it's on defense where the team will need to see some notable improvement if they want to topple the Sooners in the conference.
Linebacker Mike Rose and defenseman Greg Aysworth will return this season and bolster a defense that was down 25.9 points per game and ranked 50th out of 130 teams.
The Cyclones will be without Ray Lima this season, which will be a big blow to their defensive line if they don't find a way to replace his solid shoes. Jamal Johnson has also left and Latrell Bankston will have to apply. The 6ft 1in, 300lb linebacker will need to help Jaquan Bailey, the team's top passer, and if he can get enough attention and double the teams, that defense might surprise some people.
The Cyclones recently reversed a decision to play in front of approximately 25,000 fans in their season opener against Louisiana. Instead, they will play in an empty stadium, at least on opening day.

"Prairie" allows everyone to get acquainted with the climate zone of Iowa, learn about the inhabitants and the flora growing here, and also try themselves as a forester or gardener. Entrance to Neil Smith is free, and spending a day at the Prairie will be interesting for both adults and children.
Effidzhi Mounds are the largest American mounds that have survived to this day. They were erected by the indigenous inhabitants of the territory of the modern States, several groups of such hills can be found throughout the country, but only in Iowa are mounds in the form of animals - running, flying, crawling. Entrance to the Effidge Mounds begins with an exhibition of archaeological relics and objects reflecting the nature of the area. The building is distinguished by five domes - there is no other structure with such a number anywhere in the United States.
