Types of Basketball Hoops

There are three major types of hoops out there. They are as mentioned below.

  • In-Ground Basketball Hoop
  • Portable Basketball Hoop
  • Wall Mount Basketball Hoop

There are various adjustment methods for the three types of hoops. Mainly seven adjustment methods are prevalent in all three types of hoops. So keep an eye out for which type of your basketball hoop is.

Different Adjustment Methods of the Lifetime Basketball Hoop

A Lifetime basketball hoop has around seven different methods for adjusting its height.

Below these mechanisms will be explained in-depth so you can easily use any height adjustment system. All of these systems are available in Lifetime basketball hoops.

Check which mechanism is the one with your basketball hoop. The various methods are as follows:

  • The crank actuator adjustment mechanism
  • The mammoth height adjustment mechanism
  • Telescopic adjustment mechanism
  • Action-grip adjustment mechanism
  • Power-lift adjustment mechanism
  • Strong-arm adjustment mechanism
  • Broomstick adjustment mechanism

1. The crank actuator adjustment mechanism

This height adjustment mechanism is commonly found in wall-mount or in-ground basketball hoops. If you have an in-ground basketball court, it is attached to the pole on the backside.

Simply rotate it, and it adjusts the height of the rim in either an upward or downward direction. When you turn the actuator clockwise, the rim goes upward; when you turn it anti-clockwise, the rim slides lower.

Furthermore, if you have a basketball hoop that is wall-mounted, the crank system is fastened at the bottom of the mounting brackets. Its operation is similar to that of an in-ground basketball hoop.

2. Telescopic adjustment mechanism

It is correct to suggest that this height-adjustable system is derived from older mechanisms. Thus it will require an extra bit of care to operate. On the rear, there is a knob that is attached to the pole.

You merely need to rotate it clockwise or anticlockwise to change its height. When you crank the knob in an anticlockwise direction, the pole loses its tightness, allowing you to alter its height in six-inch increments simply.

As there is no automated mechanism, you will need to pull the pole that has fallen six inches and tighten the knob after it reaches your preferred height.

3. Action-grip adjustment mechanism

This mechanism is commonly encountered in in-ground basketball hoops. As the name implies, an action grip adjustment mechanism requires you to grab its handle and move it upward or downward at leisure.

When you press the handle upward, the height of the rim decreases. When you push the handle downward, it raises the height of the rim. The action-grip adjusts in 3-inch increments, allowing you to modify its height from 7.5ft to 10ft.

As you can understand from the explanation, it has an inverted mechanism like the mammoth height adjustment hoop. So keep that in mind when you adjust your action-grip adjustment hoops.

4. Power-lift adjustment mechanism

We've reached the stage in the article where you can learn about a height adjustment mechanism that is sumptuous and appealing. This system is primarily comprised of an in-ground basketball hoop.

It is a significantly more expensive mechanism than the others mentioned in the list. It is simple to use, and simply lightly squeeze the lever to glide the hoop to any desired height.

Power-lift height adjustment mechanisms are typically seen in Lifetime in-ground basketball hoops.

5. The mammoth height adjustment mechanism

As mentioned earlier, there are seven adjustment methods, and this one among them is the most advanced height adjustment system available. You might also refer to it as "the hydraulic system." This method is similar to the power-lift height adjustment mechanism, except it is gas-assisted.

Simply squeeze the lever with two hands and adjust it to your preference. When you move the lever upward, the goal's height decreases.

However, moving its lever in a downward manner indicates increasing its height. Simply put, the lever mechanism is inverted. Thus, the hoop comes down when you push it upward and vice versa.

6. Strong-arm adjustment mechanism

This height adjustment mechanism is unique and uncommon in basketball hoops, and we can find this mechanism only in portable basketball hoops.

Its operation is fundamental and straightforward. This mechanism is simple to adjust, and you can complete the task with one hand; even children can do it, making this the best option if you have a kid around the house.

There is a single bar that is directly fastened to the backboard. As a result, when you move this bar up or down, the backboard slides quite smoothly in response.

7. Broomstick adjustment mechanism

This basketball hoop is ideal for those of tiny stature because it can be adjusted with the help of a stick. This system costs somewhat more than the telescopic height adjustment system.

A broomstick can easily modify the basketball hoop height when you know how to adjust lifetime basketball hoop for this type of mechanism.

First, use the broomstick to press beneath the rim between the springs until you achieve the required height. As you push it up, you'll hear a clicking sound indicating the hoop has reached the following height setting. When you get the proper height, the backboard will drop slightly and lock into place.

To lower the basketball hoop, use the broomstick to press the curved bracket on the dunk lock. Push the latch-up until you hear a click, then carefully lower the backboard.

EndNote

This article has taught you how to adjust lifetime basketball hoops with step-by-step instructions quickly. The seven types of mechanisms are explained in depth. So you should be able to change heights according to the players, and you can install the types of hoops that are easier to adjust.

You can now play without worrying about any height issues, adjust to the height you and your friends are comfortable with, and enjoy the game to your heart's content.

How Do You Lower A Basketball Hoop?

It's time to lower the basketball hoop. The process of reducing the basketball hoop depends totally on the system you have installed. Needless to say, there are fixed height model basketball systems in which you may be unable to lower the hoop.

The process of lowering a basketball hoop is sometimes common for all. In this portion, we will learn about those adjustable hoops and the process of lowering them.

Mostly there, we found two categories of height adjustment for the basketball system.

1. Infinite Adjust: Most of the designs come with this adjustment system.

2. Preset Adjust: In this category, manufacturers customize the whole mechanism. Some mechanisms are patented as well.

In the latter portion, we will discuss some of the best height-adjustment mechanism types that top basketball system manufacturers provide.

1. Crank Handle Mechanism (Infinite Adjust)

In this mechanism, there is a height gauge in the system attached to the crank. To lower the hoop in this mechanism, you just need to rotate the crank clockwise or anti-clockwise, as referred to in the manual.

2. Stick Adjust Mechanism (Preset Adjust)

It is an ancient type of height adjustment mechanism that is still alive. It is also known as - Broomstick Adjustment, InstaJust, and Pole Mechanism regarding the manufacturer. To lower the basketball hoop in this system, there is an adjustment portion just behind the ring. You just need to-

  • Insert the pole or stick into the adjustment area.
  • Place the end of the stick into the release latch or cup.
  • Push the stick up.
  • After that, lower the hoop all the way to the lowest position.
  • Now place the stick at the bottom of the backboard and push it up to set the height.

3. One-Hand Adjustment Mechanism (Preset Adjust)

This mechanism is just one step up from the Stick Adjust Mechanism. It comes with an integrated handle to adjust the height. So, you don't need an additional broom or pole to raise or lower the system. If you want to lower the hoop, you just need to push the handle upwards, and it's done.

4. Screw Jack Lifting Mechanism (Infinite Adjust)

In the Infinite Adjust category, this mechanism is old enough. This system comes with a pre-built tool in the pole. By rotating the screw handle, you can easily raise or lower the hoop. You may find it just like the crank mechanism. But there is a difference. The crank handle is removable, but the screw jack is attached to the system.

5. Telescope Mechanism (Preset Adjust)

This mechanism is the new version in the Preset Adjust category. And the main part is that different manufacturers modified this mechanism on their own. They have customized the system. Some attached a tilting mechanism to complete the process of adjusting the height. In most cases, to lower the hoop-

  • Simply find the joint of adjustment.
  • Remove the nut and bolt.
  • And telescope the system down.

6. Powered Lifting Mechanism (Preset Adjust)

This mechanism is a patented mechanism by Lifetime Basketball System's manufacturer for adjusting the height. It is also known as the "Infinitely Adjustment System."
This system comes with gas spring features. Its additional leverage and strength allow it to adjust the height effortlessly. To lower the hoop, you have to raise the leverage by pushing it up.

7. Exactaheight Lifting Mechanism (Preset Adjust)

This mechanism is developed with a pin with a spring counter. The pin works as a stopper or locker for the height. Here to lower the hoop-

  • Slide or remove the pin.
  • Gently push the handle upward, and the rim will go down.

8. Trigger Glide Mechanism (Preset Adjust)

This mechanism is a comparatively new concept for basketball height adjustment. It requires you to do nothing but hold the handle and move it up or down using the trigger to get the position. To lower the hoop in this mechanism, you need to raise the handle, and it's done.

Five steps to the goal | Big Ideas

Five steps to the goal | Big Ideas Leaders
Article published in Harvard Business Review Russia
Ray Dalio

Editorial. What does a person need in order to achieve the goal? How to develop and not stand still? Why shouldn't you be afraid of problems and be ashamed that you don't know how to do something? Ray Dalio, billionaire (#67 on the global Forbes list) and founder of the world's largest hedge fund, Bridgewater, answers these questions and more in his book Principles. We publish a fragment from the Russian translation of the book, published by the Mann, Ivanov and Ferber publishing house.

In my opinion, individual development consists of five distinct stages. If you learn to follow them, you will almost certainly succeed. Below are their brief statements.

1. Set clear goals for yourself.

2. Identify the problems that stand in your way and don't put up with them.

3. Analyze these problems to understand the causes.

4. Develop a plan to help you deal with problems.

5. Do whatever it takes to carry out your plan and get results.

First, you need to decide what to aim for. The choice of goals will determine the direction of your movement. On the way to them, you will inevitably encounter problems. Some of these problems will make you see your own weaknesses. How you deal with the pain this will cause is up to you. If you want to achieve your goals, you must remain calm and analytical in order to accurately diagnose problems that arise, develop a plan to deal with them, and do what is necessary to achieve a result. After that, you will have new goals, and the whole process will repeat. For dynamic development, you will have to do it quickly and constantly, each time setting a higher goal for yourself.

To be successful, you will need to do each of these steps well and in the correct sequence each time. So, when you choose goals, focus on setting them. Do not think about how you will achieve them or what you will do if something goes wrong. When you diagnose problems, don't think about how you will solve them, just diagnose. The blurring of these stages leads to a decrease in the quality of the results, because it prevents the identification of real problems. It's a cyclical process: performing well at each step provides you with the information you need to move on to the next stage and perform well.

It is important that you approach this process in a calm and rational manner, that you are able to assess yourself from a higher level and at the same time be extremely honest. If emotions get the better of you, pause until you can think straight. If necessary, seek advice from reasonable and cold-blooded people.

In order to stay focused and efficient, imagine that your life is a martial art or a game, the goal of which is to overcome an obstacle and achieve a result. Once you accept the rules of the game, you will get used to the discomfort that accompanies a constant feeling of dissatisfaction. You will never be able to do everything perfectly: mistakes are inevitable, it is important to realize and accept this. The good news is that every mistake you make can teach you something. There are no limits to the learning process. Soon you will understand the pointlessness of the “this is not easy” or “this is not fair” or “I can’t handle this” approach and you will see that perseverance and determination pay off.

What if you don't have all the skills you need to be successful? Don't worry, this is true for anyone. You just need to know when you need them and where to go to get them. As you gain experience, you will play this game with calm, unwavering determination, even under adverse circumstances. Your ability to get what you want will inspire you. Let's take a closer look at each of the five steps.

2.1. Set clear goals for yourself.

a. Prioritize: You can get almost everything you want, but you can't get everything. Life is like a huge smorgasbord full of gourmet dishes that you never dreamed of trying. Choosing a goal sometimes means that you have to give up what you want in order to get what you want even more. And this is where some people get stuck: they hesitate to turn down an opportunity for fear of missing out on something else, and end up pursuing too many goals at the same time and accomplishing little or nothing. Do not fall into despair, and do not be confused by the abundance of options. You are able to get much more than what you need to be happy. Make a choice and boldly move forward.

b. Do not confuse goals and desires. A goal is what you really want to achieve. Desire is what you want, but what can prevent you from achieving your goal. Desires are usually first-order consequences. For example, the goal might be to be physically fit, while desire might be the temptation to eat tasty but unhealthy food. Don't get me wrong: if you want to spend all your time on the couch in front of the TV, for God's sake! Seriously. You can choose absolutely any goal. But if that's not what you're aiming for, it's best to put aside the bag of chips you're currently holding.

c. Decide what you really want to achieve in life by reconciling your goals and desires. Take, for example, passion. Without passion, life would be insipid. But the main question is: how do you manage your passion? Do you allow passion to completely overwhelm you and do rash acts under its influence, or does it motivate you in striving for your true goals? What will help you reach your fullest and fulfill your potential is the things that feel right to you on both levels, both as a desire and as a goal.

d. Do not confuse success with its external attributes. Achievement focus is undoubtedly important. But people who are crazy about a pair of $1,200 shoes or a nice car are rarely happy because they don't know what they really want and therefore what will help them satisfy that desire.

e. Never give up on a goal because you think it is unattainable. Be ambitious. There is always the best way possible. Your job is to identify it and have the courage to follow it. What you think is achievable is just a function of what you currently know. As you begin to move toward a goal, you will learn a lot, especially if you team up with others. Paths will open up before you that you never even thought about before. Although, of course, there are objective limitations, for example, you are unlikely to be able to become the center of a professional basketball team if you are short, or run a mile and a half in less than four minutes if you are 70 years old.

f. Remember that great expectations create great opportunities. If you limit yourself to a goal that you know you will achieve, you are setting the bar too low.

g. Virtually nothing can stop you from succeeding if you have: a) flexibility, b) personal responsibility. Flexibility allows you to accept what reality (or knowledgeable people) teaches you. Personal responsibility is important because if you truly believe that failure to achieve a goal is your personal failure, you will begin to regard this failure as an indicator that you have not shown enough persistence, flexibility, or creativity. In this way, you will be much more motivated to find a way out of the current situation.

h. Knowing how to deal with failure is just as important as knowing how to move forward. Sometimes you know that you are walking on a rickety bridge over an abyss and there is no other way. Life is full of unpleasant surprises, and some of them can seem like a complete disaster. In bad times, your goal may be to keep what you have, minimize your loss rate, or simply accept the inevitable loss. Your task is to always make the best possible choice, knowing that in this case you will be rewarded.

2.2. Identify the problems that stand in your way and don't put up with them.

a. Treat painful problems as an opportunity to improve. Although it may seem different at first, every problem you face is an opportunity. For this reason, it is important that you speak them openly. Most people don't like to do this, especially if their weaknesses or the vulnerabilities of those they care about become apparent in the process, but successful people know they can't do without it.

b. Do not avoid problems because they are rooted in a harsh and unsightly reality. The thought of problems that are difficult to solve makes you anxious, but not wanting to think about them (and therefore trying to cope with them) should worry you even more. When the problem is a lack of talent or skills, most people experience shame. You need to get rid of this feeling. I will not tire of repeating: admitting your weaknesses is not the same as surrendering to them. On the contrary, it is the first step to overcome them. The pain you feel is the pain of growth: it tests your strength, and you will certainly be rewarded if you pass this test.

c. Be specific about your problems. Accuracy is needed in determining the nature of the difficulties, since different problems have different solutions. If the reason is a lack of skills, additional training will help. If the problem arose because of your inner weakness, it is possible that someone will need help to change your role. If the root of the problem is the incompetence of another person, replace him with someone who has the necessary knowledge and skills. Everything is simple.

d. Do not confuse the source of the problem with the problem itself. “I don’t sleep well” is not a problem, it is a potential source (or consequence) of it. To clarify the situation, try to first define a negative outcome, such as "I'm not doing my job." Poor sleep may be the cause of this problem, or the cause may be something else, but to understand this, you need to know exactly the essence of the problem.

What are the goals in human life examples.

The main goals in a person's life

One of the best pieces of advice I can give you is to "look forward with confidence - in the direction of your dreams" and set the right goals in life.

Most of us live like the wind - moving back and forth, from one day to the next.

But I believe that our life is not just an accident, and that we should all participate in "designing" it. You could call it lifestyle design.

Ever since The Bucket List with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman came out, more people have been writing their own goals list.

Setting goals is not just writing a list. It is the starting point for designing the life we live. Maybe it's time for you to think about all the big and small things that you would like to accomplish in your life.

Every year, usually in December, people make a list of things they would like to achieve next year. However, these are short term. 100 goals of life will set you more ambitious goals. Some of them will be short-term, while others may take your whole life to complete. Some tasks you can start and do right away, some will take more time.

The 100 goals of life should be so exciting to you personally that you will have a hard time falling asleep at night! If you're not excited about your goals, then you won't be striving for them at a high enough level.

I'll give an example of 100 life goals (both basic and "exotic"), but I strongly encourage you to make your own list. So, be patient...

The question may arise: why 100 goals in life - so many? Setting so many goals can really test your motivation and talents in many areas and walks of life. Life is so multifaceted, and goals should demonstrate your discipline and responsible attitude towards it.

You are the one who takes control of your life. And goals are like GPS in life. They give direction and help you choose where to go in this life. Your vision of an ideal future can become a reality.

When you set 100 life goals and then measure your progress, you will be able to see what you have done and what you are really capable of. The very process of achieving goals will give you confidence and faith in yourself. After you have achieved one goal, you will try to achieve other goals, possibly higher ones.

You will see the great progress you have made when you look back after a while. Goals are the starting point for success. Just start...

A good start, as you know, is half the success!

We all have our own goals and dreams, don't we? But some of us seem to be more successful at achieving our goals than others. People who achieve their goals, first of all, choose the right goals.

We all have our own goals and dreams, don't we? But some of us seem to be more successful at achieving our goals than others. We can chalk it up to natural talent, the right connections, or just luck. Sometimes these reasons do take place, but most often they do not. People who achieve their goals, first of all, choose the right goals.

If we really want to be successful in life, we must choose goals that suit ourselves. We are all unique, so our 50 Life Goals and our path through life should reflect this. If you want to be successful in life, you must choose goals that align with your values, your strengths, and your desired lifestyle.

Most of us go straight to lifestyle. "I want to drive a Jaguar and live in a big house by the sea like my neighbor... He's a lawyer, so I want to be a lawyer too, right?" No. Your neighbor has a good tongue, a natural gift for debate, and just loves to gossip in a nearby bar. You are nervous when you speak in public, hate arguments and the best rest for you is a quiet walk in the fresh air. Becoming a lawyer is a natural choice for your neighbor. But that doesn't mean it will be the same for you.

So, how do you make a choice and create your list of life goals? What you need to do to make sure that your goals are right for you and thus practically guarantee yourself success. You should ask yourself the following questions:

What are my values?

Your goals must match your values. For example, if you want to travel, earn a lot of money, and work whenever you want, you can choose many occupations, including being a hit man. But if you value life and the right of everyone else, you probably won't succeed.

This example is quite extreme, but the point is clear. Your values will take precedence over any desires you have. So before you set your 50 goals in life, think about what matters most to you. Organization, cleanliness, beauty and art, welfare, wealth, compassion, self-expression, family. What are the most important things for you? Be honest.. no one is looking at you. If wealth and beauty are more important to you than family, say so. For you, becoming an art dealer who travels the world without worries and family responsibilities is a more achievable goal than becoming an art teacher who tries to work all his life surrounded by children. Remember, goals in a person's life reflect their values.

What are my strengths?

This does not mean that you should take inventory of all your abilities. Skills are what you have already learned. Some skills you can use now, others you can always learn. But strengths are, rather, what you have by nature. Some people have a good tongue, others can solve any problem or puzzle, someone has an outstanding ability in mechanics - they can take apart any car and put it back together. Your strengths may be in the ability to reason, openness, perhaps you know how to bring all people together and reach consensus. Important life goals that bring you pleasure and use your strengths are a guarantee of your success in achieving them.

What do I like to do?

For many of those who spend most of their time doing what needs to be done, this question may sound tough enough. Think about it when time flies. Sometimes we get so caught up in what we do that we lose track of time. It happens when we do what we like. 50 goals in a person's life should be based on this.

Still no idea? Go back to when you were ten or so. How did you spend your free time. What did you do after school when your homework was already done and it wasn't dinner time yet? Of course, you have changed since then, but a little trip into the past can help you uncover passions that have been abandoned and forgotten over time. Perhaps they will help you determine your life goals. Perhaps you enjoyed painting, reading, walking in the woods picking leaves, or having picnics. Can you think of a way to use these activities in your current life. Publishing books, writing and illustrating children's books or painting landscapes. How about becoming a park ranger, architect, designer or volunteer?

What does my ideal day look like?

If you want to sleep until noon and do most of your work at night, you don't want to be an elementary school teacher more than a bartender. Before you set your 50 vital goals, make sure that what you want to do actually matches the way you want to work. Take the time to describe your ideal day. What would you like to do and when? Use this chart to review the life goals you've made a list for yourself. How well do they fit into your ideal day?

What does it take to achieve these goals and will I enjoy the process?

This is perhaps the most important question of all. Although sometimes you have to do some hard work and sacrifice to achieve your goals, if all you have to do is fight and sacrifice, you have chosen the wrong path. It won't get far before you swerve off it and start to give up.

It is important to remember that goals give only a brief moment of pleasure the moment you achieve them. Soon we get used to a new life, we get bored, and we begin to look for a new purpose in life in order to start moving in a different direction. Such is human nature. Most of our time is spent in the process of achieving the goal itself. Remember this. If this path does not promise to be pleasant, was it worth starting it? Not only will you not reach your goal, but you will feel unhappy throughout the journey.

Achievable important life goals are well thought out goals. These are goals that are in line with who you are, what you're good at, and what you want out of life. Not sure where you are going and why? Don't know what you can achieve? Stop. Give yourself time to think. Look deep within yourself. That's where all the answers are. Know yourself first, then choose your goals. Choose wisely and then success is guaranteed to you.

Targets determine the movement vector. Without them, a person becomes like a ship that has gone astray and cannot find its harbor. Aimless existence negatively affects the individual, causing the degradation of the personality. How to find goals in life? How to determine which direction to go? When should this search begin? How to understand that the route is chosen correctly? What are life goals anyway? Who will help you choose? Where to look for a hint? Let's try to provide it in this article.

What are goals in life?

Goals in life are those tasks that fill it with meaning and help a person find his way. Conventionally, they can be divided into global and local. Global define, form individuality. They differ from person to person. For some, a large-scale goal in life is to build a house. For others, start a business. For the third, write a bestseller. Local goals arise regularly, they replace each other, creating a cycle of household and work routine.

Also, goals in a person's life are divided into final and intermediate. The former determine, becoming the ultimate dream, while the latter occur regularly, following one after another. Any large-scale goal consists of intermediate ones, by realizing which a person gradually approaches his dream. But this only happens in . The end goals are not laid down by nature. From a biological point of view, the purpose of life is life itself. Therefore, it is worth understanding the difference between this phrase and the goal in life. The first is the essence, and the second is just another task.

When determining the global (final) goal, it is advisable to be prudent, since you can lose after the implementation of plans. For example, the goal and the athlete is Olympic gold. Let's say his dream came true, and he became a champion. Or another option - the athlete was injured and stopped playing sports. What's next? If he did not make plans for the future, then it would become difficult, which would drive him into it for a long time, and possibly drive him to suicide. There is only one conclusion - do not get hung up on a single goal in life. How many should there be? Yes, at least fifty. We will talk about this in the next section.

50 goals in life.

In order for life to become rich and there are no dead ends, it is advisable to make a list of goals that will fill every day you live with meaning. It is appropriate to recall that a person's life includes a variety of aspects, from professional success to personal development.

Each person will have their own list of goals in life, but if it causes difficulties for someone, here is the most universal "cheat sheet". So, 50 goals in life that are worth achieving:

How to choose goals in life?

This process is difficult if you do not understand yourself. When a person knows what he wants, it is much easier for him to set goals for himself. It is necessary to determine the global goals of life. For some, they are not very different from animals: sleep, eat, multiply. For others, this is clearly not enough and they choose higher priorities. Of course, everyone needs to consume food or rest. Just one is enough just this, and someone chooses the conquest of space as a goal in life. The paradox is that both are right. It all depends on the priorities and values of the person.

Any goal in a person's life must resonate in his soul to be comparable to the grand strategy. Otherwise, there will be no due to its implementation. To do this, you need to understand what you really want. You can make a small guide book called “my goals in life”, where you write down as many things as possible that you want to do and try.

If solving this problem is difficult, you can look at the small cheat sheet provided in the middle of this article, which describes 50 goals in life that you can safely set for yourself. But it is better, of course, to do it yourself, trusting your inner voice. Then the answers will be more sincere and appropriate.

The goals of human life are an individual concept , so you need to be careful about various advisers and "well-wishers". No one but the person himself knows what is best for him. You just need to choose your path carefully. It is possible and even useful to be interested in other people's experience, but only if it is deeply analyzed and compared with personal views and beliefs.

The question of choosing a goal in life is always important and relevant. The younger the person, the more opportunities he has for various experiments. With age, this advantage disappears. Therefore, it is desirable to understand what you want as early as possible and move towards the intended goal, making every effort to achieve it. But this does not mean at all that if the goal ceases to be relevant, it is necessary to be stubborn. You can always choose a new route, just in adulthood a little more stopping distance.

Alain Bombard proved that you can "live" on the high seas for more than a month. He sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in a rubber boat, without food or water.

Bombard changed the conventional wisdom about human capabilities and saved thousands of lives in the future.

The bomber arrived at the port after a crazy experiment on himself

Alain had a global goal. It is unlikely that he chose a goal for himself in life, as is suggested at trainings. And I certainly didn’t write down, visualize and draw mind maps to achieve it. He just knew that he wanted to correct existing views on the ability to survive a person on the high seas.

He didn't learn how to "correctly" choose the goal of life - but he knew what was required of him to do. He understood what the task was before him - to show the real possibilities of a person, and not blindly believe in theoretical guesses.

And this is a “man”. Fishing for the family or something.

The man is sneezing

The bomber set sail "crazy", according to experts. But when he sailed to the other side of the ocean, an outstanding personality was in the boat.

He also caught fish, drank and ate it. Lounging in the sun on a boat, not going to work, talking to himself. All the same as any fisherman does.

It looks like the same actions that a man does every day made Bombar famous. This is what distinguishes people with a global goal, and without it.

A global goal makes a person and other people better. Personal goal improves only the person himself. Without a worthy goal, a person becomes a "man" and fishes.

Psychology of purpose in life

A lofty goal affects not only your life, but also the lives of other people. Most of those around you are against you becoming a strong and, moreover, an outstanding personality. In this way you will show that they are insignificant, little capable people.

To pursue a global goal, you need to have perseverance, hard work and the ability to take a hit.

A person with a global goal will not be understood, and they will resist him. The main opponents will be his closest, or even all around. You need a strong mind. Courage and self-discipline are the main qualities required of a person.

Before choosing the goal of life, you need to evaluate whether you are able to achieve it. Are you self-confident enough, disciplined enough, and willing to learn? The global goal will not necessarily make you heroically go towards it, like Alena Bombara, but work hard - for sure. And it is better to love this work.

A global goal requires many years of independent work, without pay or support. Can you plow all these years for 5-12 hours a day, of your own free will? The answer lies in your past, not in fantasies “Yes, I can if I want to! I'm Superman!"

To find a global goal, you need to educate your character to the level of the goal. Otherwise, the goal in life will be put for a tick, like "Helping people live happily." The result of working on the goal will be a daily meditation “Wishing everyone happiness”. There is no real work, but there will be imitation and self-deception.

The global goal of life is concrete

It is ideal for a person to reach the level of a global goal and be ready to implement it. If this is so, then a strong personality will reach the desired goal on its own. She is unlikely to have to rush about, and think about what goal to choose. Rather, it will be a question of how and to what extent the goal or its wording, but not in its main sense and purpose.

The global goal of life is “To benefit the circle of people Y in the sphere N in the way X” .

It all depends on the scale of the individual. For one, it will be enough to do their job professionally. For another, changing the standards of operation of an entire industry will be an intermediate goal.

G. Altshuller at first simply did his job conscientiously - he invented. Then, he described the ways of invention and simplified the search for creative solutions. Even later, he brought out strategies for achieving life goals that are applicable to any person.

Altshuller grew as a person: his goals and creative results grew along with him. He took on what he was ready for. He chose a worthy goal in life from what was within his power.

He didn't deceive himself with the goal of "Helping 1 million people make creative decisions by the end of 1990." What was that? An article about creativity that will be read by 1 million people? Or the theory of inventive problem solving that 1 million engineers would use every day?

The global goal of life is not “in general”, but specifically about something . It begins with the realization of new goals that make a person more efficient at work, happier in his personal life, stronger in character.

At first, Altshuller had a specific goal - "Find techniques that help in personal inventive practice. " And only then - "Invention of a way to invent."

Which target to choose?

It is wonderful to be at the level of a personal goal until the age of 40. When you are already 40-50-60 years old, it is desirable to reach the level of a worthy goal of life, otherwise there is a big risk of quickly degrading.

If your weekly plan doesn't have a global goal, in fact, you have chosen a personal goal. This is an excellent choice. The majority of the population after school/university are sliding down the path of degradation, and do not follow the path of development. Therefore, a conscious choice of a personal goal is already an achievement.

A lofty goal does not necessarily mean charitable work. You have to pay for almost everything material in life, and therefore you have to pay for your help to the world. Rather, is the right choice - a commercially viable target. Difficult choice - to take on the job alone, easier - connect to the team.

Achieving personal goals helps you choose a bigger goal in life.
