How and Where To Buy Olympic Tickets

For people living outside of Japan, the best way to purchase tickets will be from official ticket resellers in your country. Usually only one seller will be designated per country. Check the Tokyo Olympic Committee’s Tokyo 2020 Authorized Ticket Reseller List for the designated reseller in your country. Most of the resellers listed on their page currently have some basic information about purchasing tickets on their sites, some allow you to buy a Priority Access Pass (see below), but others have yet to post any information.

How Much Will Tokyo Olympic Tickets Cost?

According to the Tokyo Olympic Organising Committee, tickets for the opening ceremony will range from Y15,000 to Y300,000 (about US$220 to US$2680). Average ticket prices for events will cost from Y2500 to Y130,000 (about US$60 to US$1160) and half of tickets will cost less than Y8000 (about US$44).

What is a Priority Access Pass?

Some official ticket resellers are offering something called a Priority Access Pass. To be honest, we’re not 100% sure how these work, but they appear to grant preferred access to online ticket sales from the reseller in question. The UK ticket reseller site has a good page on the Priority Access Pass.

When Will Tokyo Olympic Tickets Go On Sale?

As soon as sale dates and purchase locations are announced, we will announce them on this page.

For information on the location of events, see our Tokyo Olympic Venues page.

With less than a thousand days to go until the Opening Ceremony, the Paris 2024 organizing committee has released information on how to buy tickets to the Games. The organizers are releasing a record-breaking 13.4 million tickets: 10 million for the Olympics and 3.4 million for the Paralympics. In comparison, Rio 2016 put 6.1 million tickets up for sale and sold approximately 4.8 million of those.

For the first time, tickets to the Games will only be sold online and will also be available worldwide. All tickets will be sold via the Paris 2024 website. Registration begins in December 2022. Information on tickets to the Opening and Closing ceremonies will release at a later time.

How Much Will Tickets Cost?

In a move to make the Games more affordable, almost half the tickets will be sold for 50 euros or less, with about a million being sold for 24 euros. With the current exchange rate, that works out to $55 and $26, respectively. These ticket prices will be available for all sports.

Half the tickets for the Paralympics will be 25 euros. 500,000 will cost only 15 euros.

How Will Buying Tickets Work?

The organizers have implemented a worldwide lottery system for purchasing tickets. The lottery of registered buyers determines time slot order. Buyers will each get a slot of several hours in which to purchase tickets. When you log in during your time slot, you’ll see what events still have tickets available. The lottery and purchase window system will be in effect through the first two phases of ticketing.

This is the first time Olympic ticketing will run a lottery system. Michaël Aloïso, chief of staff of the organizing committee, said “the teams seem quite happy with it. [It’s made] so you know exactly what you’re buying.”

When Can You Buy Tickets?
  • December 2022: Registration for the first purchasing window lottery begins
  • February 2023: Official opening of ticket sales, first lottery takes place
  • May 2023: Second lottery for purchasing windows takes place
  • Autumn 2023: Paralympic Games tickets go on sale
  • End of 2023: Remaining Olympic Games tickets sold

The organizing committee is making no secret of their desire to rebound from empty arenas in Tokyo with packed stadiums. By releasing more tickets than any other Games and making them more affordable, the committee is making a huge effort to attract people back into the stands.

Aloïso addressed this directly when ticket information went live, saying “we want to have full stadiums for the spectator experience, but also to push the athletes.” The organizers’ commitment to accessibility extends beyond ticket prices. It’s also reflected in the ambitious plan for the opening ceremonies which both eases strain on athletes and opens the ceremony to the general public.

Tickets and a corporate reception in Paris-2024

Meet Paris-2024 through ticket and corporate programs

more Olympism in the spirit of a unique international holiday.

As a venue, we will offer athletes one of the most inspiring cities in the world. Paris will become a global platform for highlighting athletes and their incredible stories.

Together with the entire Olympic family, we will demonstrate that, after an extremely difficult period, sport has more than ever the unique ability to change the world for the better.

We plan to use 95% of existing or temporary facilities. In each case, we clearly imagine what kind of legacy the city receives in the long term.

The festival of sports will flow like the waters of the Seine from the Olympic Village, which is only 15 minutes from the center, to the famous sights of Paris, such as the Eiffel Tower and the Grand Palais.

For centuries, Paris has warmly welcomed people from all over the world, including the founders of the Olympic movement. Inspiring each other and collaborating, they realized their ideas and forged the future.

In 2024, in the city where Pierre de Coubertin first realized the potential of sport to unite the world, we will organize a magical and very important Games that will mark a new milestone in sports history.

Sustainability and legacy

Paris 2024 is set to be the greenest Olympics ever. The Paris 2024 Organizing Committee has developed a unique sustainability and heritage strategy that is fully in line with the UN's sustainable development goals. It is supported by organizations such as WWF France, the Yunus Center and UNICEF France. The strategy is based on three elements: sports at the heart of social life, the pursuit of greater inclusiveness and concern for the environment.

Paris 2024 will be the first Olympics to be held in full compliance with the Paris Climate Agreement, leave a positive legacy locally and internationally, and have a positive impact on sports.

The Paris Games will significantly reduce carbon emissions. It is planned that compared to London 2012, which is considered an example of a green Olympics, carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by 55%.

Paris 2024 Organizing Committee's policy on clean transport confirms commitment to green Olympics:

  • 100% of spectators will reach the Olympic venues by public transport, by bicycle or on foot;
  • Olympic season ticket holders will be able to use public transport free of charge;
  • Zero emission buses will be used during the Games;
  • France's developed railway network will connect Paris with 85% of the country's largest cities and many European capitals, domestic routes will be no longer than four hours;
  • Central Europe's location means that most European capitals can be reached by train or plane from Paris in less than three hours.

The Olympic Village in Paris 2024 will be a model for sustainable development: green houses, fully renewable energy, minimal carbon emissions and zero waste production.

95% of the Olympic venues have already been built or will be temporary, and therefore the environmental impact of construction activities associated with the Games will be minimal. 85% of the facilities are within 30 minutes of the Olympic Village. This means that travel time will be kept to a minimum and zero-emission vehicles can be used.

The Olympic Stadium can be reached from the Olympic Village in just five minutes.

Thanks to the offset policy, the Paris 2024 application has been certified carbon neutral to ISO 20121.

Q&A with Marie-Amelie Le Fur (Paralympic Athletics)

Marie-Amelie Le Fur is one of the chairpersons of the Paris 2024 Sports Committee. At the last two Paralympic Games, she won eight medals.

How will the plan to host the Sustainability Games help local athletes?

"The Paris 2024 Games are planned to be organized not only to provide a great experience for the athletes, but also to leave a lasting legacy for society. The Aquatics Center will be used as a new elite training facility and leisure pool. For Paris where half of the children can't swim, it makes a huge difference.In addition to the Olympic venues, 100 million euros will be invested in the development of local sports infrastructure, which will be used during the Games for training.The whole country will benefit from the organization of the Olympic Games.Special attention will be paid to to make the infrastructure barrier-free. Finally, one of the key and very valuable moments of the organization of the 2024 Games in Paris will be to change the attitude towards people with various disabilities - not only in sports, but in the whole of French society."

Information about the complex
Yubileiny

Yubileiny is a unique multifunctional sports complex, which is rightfully considered a landmark of St. Petersburg. A variety of events are held on the main arena of the Yubileiny Sports Complex: hockey matches, concerts of Russian and foreign performers, festivals, championships in many sports, concert and circus performances, exhibitions, scientific conferences, corporate events, events in the format of a concert hall with a restaurant area etc.

Today, the main arena of Yubileiny can comfortably accommodate more than 7,000 spectators. The grounds of the small and training arena form the largest indoor skating rink in St. Petersburg, which hundreds of outdoor enthusiasts can go to at the same time all year round. Yubileiny is the home arena of the St. Petersburg teams of the Higher, Youth and Women's Hockey Leagues.

Aleksey Nikolaevich Mishin works at Yubileiny. Honored trainer of Russia and the USSR has been working in the complex since the beginning of its existence. He brought up such outstanding athletes as Yuri Ovchinnikov, Alexei Urmanov, Alexei Yagudin and Evgeni Plushenko. Now Aleksey Nikolayevich Mishin is coaching European and World champion Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, European champion Sofia Samodurova and Andrey Lazukin.

- Yubileiny is my alma mater. And not only mine, but also the masses of other figure skaters in St. Petersburg. Sometimes love is strong, but short, but for me and my team this sports palace has become a great friend for many years.

- I am proud that Lisa is one of the few jumpers who perform quadruple jumps. I am proud that she represents our Star Ice school, that she is a student at the University. P. F. Lesgaft and a student at the Yubileiny Sports Palace. Wonderful girl, wonderful person.

I have worked with many outstanding athletes, figure skating stars. Often, becoming champions, they changed. They stopped noticing their teammates, changed the system of relationships with the coach. Such situations do not only occur in the world of sports. This did not happen with Lisa. She is as kind and sensible as ever.
