How to contact overseas basketball teams

How To Contact Overseas Basketball Teams [FREE & EASY METHOD] — Jose Colorado

Contacting overseas basketball teams doesn’t have to be hard and complicated.

In fact:

In this post I’ll show you a FREE and EASY way that literally ANYONE can use to contact pro basketball teams regardless of:

  • Skill level

  • Playing background

  • Connections

  • Age

…etc.

So let’s begin.

CONTACTING OVERSEAS BASKETBALL TEAMS

When contacting overseas basketball teams there are a few key elements including highlight films, resume, email address and/or social media accounts that must be present regardless of where or who you are messaging.

Otherwise:

The chances of success are quite slim.

Now full disclosure:

The method I am about to show you already has a very low success rate.

There is a reason why it is FREE and EASY.

Literally anyone can do it.

How low is the success rate, you ask?

I’d say around 5-8%.

In fact:

I recently began tracking my own success with this form of contacting overseas teams and so far I’ve received 8/150 (5.3%) favorable messages (I’ll update this as I continue to do it. I’m planning on messaging 1000 teams).

When I say favourable messages I am referring to teams expressing interest by:

  1. Wanting to sign you

  2. Wanting to see more film

  3. Wanting to know more info about you/your background

  4. Forwarding you to a higher-ranking person to speak with (i.e. Team President)

Here’s a recent favourable response I received from a Spanish club.

In it, they say while they like my game their import slots are currently full.

But this eventually led us to the discussion of possibly working together to get the highly coveted Bosman A passport for me.

At the same time:

You only need 1 team to be interested.

That’s all it takes for YOU to get your overseas basketball career started.

So with all that out the way, let’s dive into it.

PRO BASKETBALL TEAM CONTACTS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD

To easily message overseas pro basketball teams and contacts throughout the world, every player must familiarize themselves with Eurobasket.

This website is the hub of international and overseas basketball as it has a HUGE database of nearly all overseas pro teams, players and coaches throughout the world.

STEP 1: GO TO EUROBASKET.COM

Yes, it is FREE to access!

STEP 2: DETERMINE WHAT COUNTRY AND CONTINENT YOU WANT TO PLAY IN

While the name - Eurobasket - may clearly have you thinking this is a purely European website, this platform actually covers all leagues worldwide.

So by hovering over the tabs at the top of the page, you have access to every continent and country across the world.

Now when determining what country you want to contact/play in, it’s important you consider various KEY factors including:

  1. Skill level/competition: What type of players (e.g. NCAA D1) do they recruit?

  2. League history: Is it a beginner league for rookies or for established pros?

  3. Nationality/citizenship: Are you considered a national or import where you’re looking?

  4. Season period: When is the season happening? Are you applying during the right time?

…and much more.

Depending on this, your search should first be geared towards these specific regions of the world.

I call these the 4 key pillars of relevance when networking and they can literally make or break a search.

Afterwards, if you want, you can contact other countries.

Remember:

The response rate on this method is already very low.

So don’t make it even lower by searching for irrelevant countries (i.e. leagues outside your ability).

Be honest with yourself.

STEP 3: ACCESS THE COUNTRY

After having considered all of the above factors, hover over the continent and let the drop-down menu appear with the available countries.

Click on your country of choice.

For the purposes of this example.

I’ll choose Colombia.

STEP 4: FIND THE APPROPRIATE LEAGUE

Depending on the country there may be multiple leagues available on the upper tab.

For example:

In Colombia there are two main leagues currently listed on Eurobasket - LPB and Copa Federacion (tournament style league).

  1. Click on the league you want to play in (top arrow in picture).

In this instance, I want to play in the LPB since it is a longer season (more money).

  2. Find the league standings on the right side of the page (bottom arrow in picture).
Click on the desired team you’d like to message. I always start off with the lowest-ranking teams since they are more likely to give you an opportunity.

Higher-ranking teams usually have their preferred or established imports they want.

STEP 5: MESSAGE THE TEAM COACH

After having clicked onto the team name, two key elements may appear:

If the coach (or coaches) are listed then you have your first lead.

Immediately find them on social media and make your pitch.

If you are unsure whether it is the same person on social media as it is on Eurobasket, look for things like:

  • Is his/her job title posted on social media?

  • Do we have mutual friends (basketball community is very small so it’s likely you will if you have been growing your global network)

  • Match up photos between Eurobasket and social media to see if they look similar

  • Look through their photos on social media (do they involve basketball?)

  • Then make an educated guess

Now obviously not all coaches will have social media accounts so if you don’t find them quickly then skip onto Step 6.

Otherwise…

HOW TO CONTACT OVERSEAS BASKETBALL TEAMS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Pro basketball players should focus on connecting with overseas basketball teams and coaches on Facebook rather than Twitter or Instagram since Facebook is the most popular social media site worldwide and thus most accessible.

As well:

To privately message someone on Twitter, you need them to follow you back.

Instagram and Facebook don’t have that issue.

For your social media message create a simple template and switch out the coach’s name when relevant.

In your social media message, 7 key elements should be present:

  1. Brief introduction hoping they are well

  2. Introducing yourself

  3. Listing any relevant passports

  4. Expressing your desire to play

  5. Briefly listing off your accomplishments/credentials

  6. Highlight film

  7. Call to action

Here’s the template I use:

Notice how the message is:

  1. Brief

  2. Respectful

  3. To the point

  4. Free of spelling errors

  5. Grammatically correct

Don’t forget to translate the message into the country’s official language.

So in the Colombia example, I’d translate this message into Spanish through Google translator.

Coaches and teams are busy so don’t waste their time.

Make your message as brief, readable and accessible as possible.

Remove as many reasons as possible for them to click away.

Yes, while this is a basketball job and not a formal office position, it is still a job at the end of the day.

That means you need to be conducting yourself with a level of professionalism, efficiency and class if you want coaches to take you seriously.

STEP 6: CHECK FOR SOCIAL MEDIA ICONS

Next:

After having added and messaged the coach on social media, head back to the Eurobasket page.

Look for the team’s social media icons right below the team name and click on it (arrow in picture).

Again:

If there are multiple social media accounts, always prioritize Facebook.

STEP 7: CHECK FOR ABOUT SECTION (EMAIL, WHATSAPP, WEBSITE)

From here you will be taken to their Facebook page.

This is an extremely valuable resource for some teams as it can provide some juicy leads.

First:

LIKE the team page so that you are up to date on team events in the future.

Next:

Message the team page with the same template provided in Step 5.

Just switch out the coach’s name with the team name.

Usually there is a MESSAGE icon right where the LIKE button is (although this particular team doesn’t have one - very rare).

Also notice the left hand side or the ABOUT section.

These can provide HUGE leads such as:

  • Direct email addresses

  • Website (possibly more contact info or listing of team coaches)

  • Whatsapp phone number (add them, remember to add the area code for the country if they don’t provide it, and message them with the same template)

Remember something very important:

In many of these lower or middle-tier teams/leagues, there is NO marketing team or department.

Typically the team’s publicity is handled entirely by the board of directors or by the President him/herself.

So that means if you can get this info, you are literally talking to the HEAD decision-maker in the organization.

This has happened plenty of times to me using this method, leading to some positive discussions.

how to contact overseas basketball teams by EMAILs

While social media messages to overseas basketball teams should be brief and only include a highlight film, email messages can be slightly longer and should include attachments and a compelling subject line to enhance your credibility and message to the pro club.

This all comes down to the psychology of both platforms.

On social media we are looking for brief interactions as it is an instant messaging app.

In contrast:

Emails are more widely accepted to get across longer messages.

Grab the coach/team’s attention immediately with a compelling subject line.

This is what coaches see before - and if - they open up an email.

So it has to be convincing.

What is it that you think is your most powerful:

  • Achievement (e.g. playing on a certain team)

  • Award (e.g. Conference MVP, League All-Star)

  • Accomplishment (e.g. winning a big-time championship)

  • Asset (e.g. passport in relevant country or 7’0ft tall)

Whatever that is, put it in the subject line.

For example:

Since I’m a national in Canada and I’ve won multiple scoring titles in Latin America, I believe these to put my two strongest assets when applying for jobs in Canada’s pro leagues.

In terms of possible attachments to add onto the email, itself, here are some ideas:

  • Table of your career stats

  • Screen shot/PDF of being recognized for winning an important league award

  • Links to articles praising you

Here’s what I attach:

STEP 8: FOCUS ON ONE COUNTRY AT A TIME

I always do one country at a time for two main reasons:

  1. I don’t have to keep on translating the message into different languages

  2. I don’t have to keep on switching out the country name in each message

For instance:

Currently I’m messaging only Spanish teams in EBA.

So my template looks like this:

Notice:

The only thing I’m ever switching out is the team name/person at the top of the message.

Everything else stays the same.

This way I’m able to Copy + Paste to as many teams as possible.

STEP 9: DEDICATE 1-2 HOURS PER DAY

Over time, your focus and concentration will start to decrease.

I would only recommend 1-2 hours per day MAX.

STEP 10: REPEAT

Finally - understand something:

This method is meant to be like a shotgun - spray it everywhere.

Don’t get stuck on one team.

If you can’t find a coach’s social media account or the team doesn’t have a social media account, skip them and go onto the next club.

You should be able to rattle off 20 teams in an hour - possibly more.

So that means you have to be as efficient as possible.

CONCLUSION

This method is something that unsigned and unknown players can do in their spare time ONLY AFTER having completed their:

That’s an important distinction:

This is NOT something you should spend your entire day doing since it has such a low success rate.

There are better ways to get started in overseas basketball.

But essentially:

Instead of wasting your nights watching playing video games.

Why not try to get your name out there while learning more about the overseas basketball market?

It can only help.

I’ve personally dedicated 1 hour a day to doing this method to see what results it can yield.

All that is needed is time, patience and understanding who and where you should be contacting.

Have you ever contacted overseas basketball teams through this Eurobasket method?
Have you ever contacted a pro team out of the blue and got a response in your favour?

How to Play Basketball Overseas - Step by Step Guide

The goal of any athlete is to make a living playing the sport they love. In basketball, if you don’t make it to the NBA or the NBA G League, there are hundreds of other leagues around the world where you can live out your dreams of making good money playing basketball. This step-by-step guide will break down the steps on how to play basketball overseas.

Table of Contents

Step 1:

Play at the highest level in your home country

How to play basketball overseas for Americans image by EuroProBasket

You need experience playing at the highest level to get the most interest from teams overseas. So your goal should be to make it to the top level wherever you are currently living and playing.

American Players

Ncaa D1 – Teams overseas know that there is a ranking system in the USA that has Ncaa D1 at the top followed by Ncaa D2 and Ncaa D3. NAIA is still not completely clear to a lot of teams overseas but can still provide good experience.

Canadian USPORTS is becoming more known to teams across the pond. The Canadian NBL is a great option for quality experience.

Juco and high school experience is usually not enough to get serious interest from teams overseas. That is if you are not ranked in the nation such as LaMelo Ball or Brandon Jennings. Go for a 4 year University program at the highest level possible.

AAU and shoe sponsored club teams will help you get exposure to Universities but will rarely get you enough exposure to get overseas.

If your time has passed with University eligibility or it’s just not for you, the best option is getting on a semi-pro team. Make sure you read the last section of the article if you fall under this category.

International Players

Club Teams – For International players, this is the only way to play basketball competitively. Work to get on the best club team in your city or town.

Junior National Team – Your goal should be to play for your country’s national team. The senior team would be the ultimate goal but junior teams will get you exposure.

Step 2: Get Stats

Get stats – How to play basketball overseas image via EuroProBasket

If you go Ncaa D1 and don’t get any minutes, struggle to get stats, then you will also struggle to get interest from teams overseas.

Go D2 and be an All-American. That will get you great playing experience, and quality stats, which could lead to a professional contract.

NCAA, NAIA, USPORTS, international club teams and leagues; got those numbers up while adding value to your team.

Make sure you know where to locate your stats. Keep track of them and add them to your resume at the end of every season.

Step 3: Get Video

Game film is your way to show your talent, athleticism and decision making skills to teams around the world. Video is the 2nd step in your search of how to play basketball overseas.

One Highlight Per Season – Sum up every season you play with a highlight. Teams, coaches, agents…like to get a quick glimpse of how you move and shoot. This will peak their interest and get them to consider watching some of your full games.

Two Full Games per Season – This is pretty self explanatory but you need two full games per season played. this is a minimum. Some teams may ask for more. Make sure they are the best games you have played, both on offense and defense.

You should be in control of your own film. Make a YouTube channel, vimeo or sign up for another streaming service. Membership is free and you can upload as many videos as you want.

Acceptable Video – YOU Need to Read This

The quality of the competition is absolutely critical to getting a team overseas to watch your video. Low level and disorganized competition will not gain any attention from clubs overseas.

Open gyms, open runs, YMCA, Juco or high school is not high enough quality to get the interest from contacts overseas. You need to get the highest competition possible. Playing against adults in an organized competitive environment.

NCAA, NAIA, USPORTS are the best options for players from America. International players can use their country’s local competitions. The higher the level of competition the better.

Semi-Pro Leagues in the USA can be good options as well. Not all teams overseas will consider it but many will. It is important your team is organized and the competition is high level. Good effort on defense. Running organized sets and plays on offense.

Overseas Basketball Combine , exposure camps, and showcases in the USA will not get you a team’s interest. Take our word for it, or read this article for reasons why teams do not consider it a viable option to scout players.

More information on why USA overseas basketball combine film will not help you get overseas below.

Overseas Tour game film can work well due to the fact that you are usually playing overseas teams. Be selective on which tour you go on. If you take a tour to Latin America, don’t expect to use the film to help you get on a team in Europe.

Workout videos or clips of yourself working out will rarely get you anywhere. If you have some solid game film and you have had a few months off, it is possible that a team will want to see some workout film to make sure you are in shape. This is usually not the case though.

Mixtapes and slow-mo video clips are cool but not beneficial for coaches and scouts. It will get you some props from your friends and IG followers but will do nothing to get you signed.

EuroProBasket game film – Players in the EuroProBasket program play weekly games against European teams. The leagues that EuroProBasket team plays teams in are recognized around Spain and the rest of Europe. If you are asking yourself How to Play Basketball Overseas, we have your answer here in Valencia, Spain: Register to be part of EuroProBasket’s Professional Placement Program here.

Step 4: Get a Passport

Bosman A, Bosman B, Cotonou passports image via EuroProBasket

You cannot leave your country without a passport, with a few exceptions, which are not worth mentioning for this article.

You will need that passport to travel and on many occasions to register for an international team or league. Take care of that before you start your plans to go abroad.

Dual Citizenship and its Benefits in Overseas Basketball

You may have heard of players being dual citizens or having dual passports. This is one of the first things we recommend our players at EuroProBasket to look into.

If your parents were born in another country or have their citizenship in another country, you are eligible to receive yours as well.

You could possibly be eligible for another citizenship if your grandparents were born in another country. Do some research on your family’s historical background as it will greatly benefit you.

Why having dual citizenship is important?

If you have a European passport for example, you will be considered a European player instead of an import player. No visa is required to register you to a team and there are 3-5 times as many roster spots available for European Bosman A passport holders than there are for import players, or USA passport holders.

If you have citizenship in a specific country, it doesn’t matter the country, and there is a professional basketball league in that country, you will most likely be considered a local player. This has many benefits and will prolong your professional playing and even coaching career indefinitely.

Bosman A – Bosman B – Cotonou – The Differences

Bosman A

These passports are for citizens of the European Union. There are 27 countries in the EU with a few exceptions that are added to the list of Bosman A players. This is arguably the most beneficial passport to have in overseas basketball. You can find some interesting information about the bosman ruling and how it changed European and Ncaa basketball here.

Bosman B

These passports are countries in Europe but excluded from the European Union. Most European leagues have roster spots reserved for players with these passports. Registration to the league is typically less expensive than an import players registration. Players will need a visa to play and work in the country in which the team is located.

Cotonou

These passports are from developing countries, or third world countries in Africa and many Island Nations. Many leagues in Europe (Spain, Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland, ect…) have roster spots specifically for these passport holders. Their registration fee to the league is cheaper for the team. They too need a visa to work and play in the country where the team is located. More about the cotonou agreement here.

Step 5: Make a Player Bio, CV or Resume

Player Resume – How to play basketball overseas image via EuroProBasket

  • Include Personal Information, picture playing or in a professional outfit
  • Include stats for every season, as detailed as possible as to not have team searching (remember teams and agents go through hundreds every week)
  • Add Highlight links and full game links so they are clickable
  • Add whatever accolades and achievements
  • Add references if you like
  • Save it in a pdf and have it on file so you can update it
  • Make it organized and professional looking
  • It only needs to be one or two pages
  • Leave out the self explanation, self scouting and NBA player comparison
  • Remember, less text is better, English is the 2nd, 3rd or 4th language of the person looking over your bio
  • Have it ready to send on your phone
  • We made an article specifically on how to make a basketball resume which can be found below.

Step 6: Network – How to Play Basketball Overseas
  • Use current contacts with coaches, trainers and teammates
  • Create and use social media accounts, most contacts abroad have facebook, linkedin and twitter. Some have instagram accounts.
  • Create your own website with all of your stats and video links if you can.

Step 7: Find an Agent – How To Play Basketball Overseas

A basketball agent will have the contacts to help you get your career started overseas. There is a lot you need to know about overseas agents though. We covered every detail in the article below.

Step 8: Best Opportunities to Play Overseas Basketball

Best opportunities to play overseas basketball image via EuroProBasket

Visit the country you want to play

You’ve attempted Steps 1 through 7 of how to play basketball overseas. You still don’t have a team. Here are your options.

If you want to play in Japan, go to Japan and present yourself to teams. It is a big risk and very expensive but If you can walk in a gym and tryout for a team it makes your chances much higher that the team will give you an opportunity to sign with them.

There are obvious downsides to this option. Many teams only allow a certain amount of import players. Higher level teams have specific needs and there is a chance that you are not that exact fit for the team.

Showcase or Exposure Camp

Showcases in the USA are hit or miss. More miss than hit. Too many players, un-organized open run type of basketball. Most teams cannot afford to send a coach or GM to the US to scout a group of players. It is much easier and less expensive for them to contact an agent for players with professional experience.

Live streams mean a busy person needs to take time out to watch, taken into account the time difference. Don’t fall for the gimmick many camps and combines in the USA try to sell to players.

Agent showcases can be a good option. Usually only the top one or two players will be interesting for the agency.

Basketball Academies & Overseas Tours

These options take more of an investment but what is a career in basketball worth to you? Put yourself in the middle of a country or region that you are interested in living and playing basketball.

Downsides to a tour is that it can be difficult to get a good rhythm and perform in just a week or 10 days. You don’t have much time to practice and get accustomed to your tour team. You will be moving from one location to nother with many hours of travel. Tours are really difficult to time as teams sign players at different times of the year, so when is the best week for the tour? Your guess is as good as theirs…

Some are organized and done by professionals, most are disorganized and can be very uncomfortable and in some cases scary.

A basketball academy is your best all around option. If you want the most legit shot at going pro then why not select the best basketball academy, with the longest history of helping players sign with teams in Europe? Located in the largest basketball facilities in Europe in collaboration with one of the biggest clubs in Europe. EuroProBasket will help you get to the next level.

Basketball club Rostov Don SFU

10 years of inspiration and victories0417

People of "long will" were once called those who are capable not of single, albeit bright, outbursts of heroism, but of a constant hard struggle, which, however, does not exclude these very outbursts. It was such people who built great empires and created new civilizations, and in our modern world they are a rarity. And when beautiful ladies have such a “long will” ... Basketball in our city was lucky twice - the Olympic champion from Minsk Elena Shvaybovich and the former star of the Rostov parquet Tatyana Troitskaya became exactly those who were able not only to create a club, but also bring it to the present the status of the best women's basketball team in the South of Russia. Through thousands of big and small difficulties and troubles, only forward and upward. Probably only the Lord God and Elena Petrovna and Tatyana Alexandrovna themselves know what it cost them. But they did it. And they keep doing it. Honor them for this and praise. And, of course, admiration!

First steps, first victories

The very idea of creating something truly original was in the air, but never turned into reality. Why is a valid question. Rostov in women's basketball had a long tradition, both fighting and sad: knowing how to build, they could ruthlessly destroy what had been built in labor and torment. And not once. Back in the past fifties and sixties, our Burevestnik successfully performed in the highest allied league, and trained players for the national team of the Soviet Union. Alas, he waved his wings hopelessly. Then, outstanding lineups periodically gathered in Lokomotiv, Krasny Aksai, TESMO-DON looked especially shocking, breaking through, among other things, into the European Club Ronchetti Cup. Unfortunately, he suffered the unenviable fate of a temporary worker. It's time for another try.

The newborn child was called "simple", but with taste - "Rostov-Don". With meaning or inspiration, now you can’t remember. The ensemble was made up of girls at the age of fifteen or seventeen. To get to the top, it was necessary to go through the tournament of the first league of the Southern Federal District (February - May 2006), having been designated. At the pace, no one was going to wait long. And then the incredible happened. The once notable masters of TESMO-DON Elena Dorofeeva, Elvira Solonitskaya and ... the Olympic champion Elena Shvaybovich herself came to the aid of the young ones ... And the logical result - the first championship!!! The immediate birthday of "Rostov-Don" should be considered February 16, 2006, hence the countdown of its history.

Successes of the first five-year plan

Each new season became for the team a new rung on the ladder leading only up. The pupils of the Don basketball were returning from other cities, new ones were growing up. The team grew, the club grew stronger, becoming truly professional. However, the players not only returned, but also left - the problem of the lack of a modern base and a playing hall that has set the teeth on edge still remains a sore point not only for the club, but for all basketball in the city. But the ladies of the “long will” continue their noble work, the game is getting more and more harmonious, there are more and more victories, and here is the result - Rostov-Don becomes the winner of the Major League and gets a ticket to the Super League.

Silver with a purple tint

Rostovites did not get lost in the Super League either. The final sixth place, victories over the unconditional favorites from Moscow and Ivanovo - the debut season can be safely called successful. The next season the team started again with an updated line-up and in new colors. Instead of the yellow-blue shades that have become commonplace for Rostov teams, the girl team chose the noble purple and black color of the panthers. Panther, as a symbol of the unity of power and grace, has become the team's mascot, taking its place in the club's heraldry. As before, the "core" of the team was made up of their pupils - Anna Belyaeva, Anastasia Zhitnaya, Olga Podpletnaya, Anna Strizheus and Evgenia Trunova were called up from the junior team. Olga Gritsaeva from St. Petersburg, a sniper from Samara Evgenia Chernova, who has experience playing overseas and in the Premier League, organically joined the team. During the autumn, the formation of a renewed team took place, and soon the team appeared as a well-played and powerful team, the Panthers did not know defeat all winter. However, the injuries of Natalya Movilyan and Yulia Klimenko intervened. The “bloodless” Rostov-Don nevertheless made it to the Superleague final and even managed to lead in the final series, but, alas, the Rostovites simply did not have enough physical resources of the players remaining in the ranks for a complete victory.

In the same year, the official fan club “Basketball Family” appears. A special team has special fans.

Battle reconnaissance in the elite division

The Panthers' first steps in one of the strongest championships on the continent turned out to be difficult and complicated. Having gathered qualified performers under their banner under the guidance of the most experienced Latvian specialist Ainars Zvirgzdinsh, who at that time was part of the coaching staff of the Russian national team, the Rostovites began preparing for the championship. The winners of the European Youth Championship Anna Ostroukhova and Elena Gogia returned to their hometown, the two-time best sniper of the Super League Yana Kotova from neighboring Kropotkin was invited, sniper Olga Vorobyova arrived from St. Petersburg, point guard Evgenia Oksner from far Siberia ... But then the Don team began a streak of bad luck. The pre-season training was leveled by the epidemic that overtook the team at the pre-season training camp in Lithuania. The season has barely begun and two Annas drop out of the squad - Belyaeva and Ostroukhova. Before the start of the championship, Zvirgzdins did not hide the fact that the presence of both Ans in the composition is one of the main trump cards of Rostov-Don. The talented pupils of Rostov basketball differed greatly from each other in their style and vision of the game, which made it possible to vary tactics during any match. Did not help the team and the invitation of the first in the history of the club "legionnaires". Serbs Dragana Gobelic and Bojana Vulich have not been able to fully express themselves. As a result, "Rostov-Don" rounded out the top ten teams in the country, being remembered for individual bright games and gaining rich experience.

WE ARE CHAMPIONS!

The triumphant season began for Rostov-Don not at all easy. Sergei Fedorenkov, who took the post of head coach, had a fruitful previous season with the Rostov youth team, and therefore the increase in his status was quite logical. Together with him, Maria Kaytukova (Minenko), Daria Malashihina and Kristina Povalyaeva stepped into the base. Anna Belyaeva and Anastasia Zhitnaya left big sport, but the “guardsmen” who passed the test of the Premier League remained in the ranks - Olga Podpletyonnaya, Yana Kotova, Evgenia Oksner. A group of players was invited, in which it is worth highlighting the charismatic Milana Sumets and Alexandra Stolyar. Possessing one of the strongest squads in the league, the Panthers started the season unsuccessfully, taking places far from the top in the tournament rankings. The result of this situation was the resignation of the head coach. The Panthers' new mentor is the most experienced Nikolay Tanaseychuk, who has experience of working with both foreign clubs and Russian Premier League teams. Strengthened the composition and experienced center Elena Kharchenko. The team came to the playoffs in the fifth position in the standings, but already a strong and combat-ready team that has everything necessary for the main battles of the season. As a result, the Panthers lost only once in the playoff games. For this, the Voronezh basketball players on their site needed three overtimes and a half-truncated Rostov-Don - the Rostovites finished the game with five of them, without substitutions, when the other five with too many fouls could only morally support those who remained in the ranks. However, the next day, the Panthers deal with their rivals in regular time and reach the final, where they outplay the old-timers of the Superleague from Omsk in two games. Individual prizes were given to Nikolai Tanaseychuk (best coach), Elena Kharchenko (best center) and Maria Kaitukova (best player).

Under the banner of SFU

The team started the season under a new name - with the filing of the leadership of the Rostov region in the person of Vice-Governor Igor Alexandrovich Guskov, the club signs a cooperation agreement with one of the best universities in the country - the Southern Federal University. Already under the name "Rostov-Don-YUFU", the team wins the newly established Cup for the prizes of the Southern Federal University, and then achieves noticeable success in the Russian Cup. Having outplayed rivals from Voronezh, Moscow and Stavropol at the preliminary stage, the Panthers knock out representatives of the Premier League from Krasnoyarsk and stop only at the quarterfinal stage, which is a record for themselves, where they are inferior to one of the giants of Russian women's basketball Orenburg "Nadezhda". Things are going well in the regular season of the Superleague. Unexpectedly losing in four away meetings in a row, in the future the team gains momentum and loses less often than others, almost to the very finish remains a potential leader. At the same time, “thanks” to the irregularities of the calendar, the “Panthers” have to be in the role of catching up almost the entire distance. In the end, our team did not manage to overtake the St. Petersburg Ladoga, the second position in the regular season and the playoff meeting with the Samara Polytech SamGTU. A meeting in which the champion unexpectedly loses to a daring team from the banks of the Volga. “Victory has a thousand fathers, but defeat is always an orphan,” as one famous historical character said. But not in this case - Nikolai Tanaseychuk takes responsibility and resigns. In fairness, it should be noted that the cause of the fiasco in the championship was not only the miscalculations of the coaching staff. The annoying problem of the playing hall in Rostov-on-Don hit the club especially hard this season. Wandering between the "Express" and the hall of the Sports School-7, the team spent in the latter hardly half of the games of the season.

However, there were bright positive events in the season. Alexandra Stolyar won gold and silver medals for the Russian national team in the European and world street basketball championships, respectively, and in December she made her debut for the country's main team. According to the results of the Superleague championship, Alexandra was recognized as the best attacking defender. Maria Kaitukova updated the club's scoring record (34 points against Gloria). Soon both were called up under the banner of the student team of Russia and won the "bronze" of the Universiade.

Anniversary season

The team started the 2015-2016 season with a renewed and much younger squad. Nesterova (Bundled) and Kharchenko are ending their careers, Kaitukova, Stolyar, Andreeva are going to be promoted. From the old guard, Kotova, Sumets and Oksner remain in the ranks, and the coaching staff is headed by a recent player of the Rostov teams, and now a young talented coach Andrei Babichev. Most of the players of the current team are just another graduate from the Youth Sports School-7, talented, but not shot at the adult level.

As it should be according to the laws of the genre, experience was gained along with a fair amount of stuffed "bumps". However, the vector was planned correctly, as evidenced by the bright victories over the favorites of the season from Samara, Kursk, Omsk, in which the contours of a new powerful basketball team are clearly and clearly visible.
