Wrap It Up
Simple, classic, timeless. Pick a gift paper that fits your giftee and sit back and watch as they unwrap happiness. It may not be the most original way to present your gift, but hundreds of years of tradition can’t be wrong. And if you’re feeling extra crafty, wrap it up in something thoughtful like a band T-shirt.
Unexpected Discovery
Chances are your ticket gift will already be unexpected, but you can up the wow factor by stashing it somewhere and letting them stumble upon it as they go about their day. Nothing beats an unexpected gift, especially when it’s tickets to an event they’ve been dreaming of.
Social Media Surprise
Add a fun digital twist to presenting your gift by surprising your loved one on social media platforms like Snapchat, Twitter, and Facebook. It may just be on a screen, but the joy it brings IRL can’t be beat.
Special Delivery
You might not have access to a robot, but if you do, you can achieve a…unique effect by having it deliver your ticket gift. In lieu of a robot, you could attach the tickets to the family pet’s collar, stick them to a drone and make a landing in the front yard, or give them to the local pizza delivery guy to include with his next delivery. Hey, it beats the UPS guy.
Fake-Out Packaging
Pranks and fake outs are a lot of fun when the end result is something great like tickets to a big game or concert. Case in point? This recent segment from The Today Show, which features host Hoda Kotb posing as a meter maid and giving out fake parking tickets to unsuspecting drivers.
The kicker? The “tickets” are actually tickets provided by Ticketmaster and Live Nation for events including Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, and the New York Knicks. Check out the video – it’s totally heartwarming to see how happy people are when they realize they’ve just been given tickets to live events.

How to Give Tickets As a Gift
Tickets are a fun and unique gift idea that often gets overlooked. Tickets are like passports to exciting experiences and the opportunities to make cherished memories with loved ones.
If you’re shopping for tickets, you might start the fun before they even get there by giving them a creative and distinctive method to receive their tickets.
In this guide, we’ll take on answering some common questions as it related to the proper way to give tickets as gifts:
- How do I come up with ticket ideas?
- What kind of tickets make great gifts?
- What are creative ways to gift tickets?
- How do I gift tickets without physically having tickets?
Now let’s jump right in.
Brainstorming The Ideal Ticket
When choosing a gift for somebody, surprise is always the best way to go. But this surprise isn’t dependable if you don’t have any kind of knowledge about their interests and hobbies.
If you’re close enough with someone that wants to surprise them with tickets, then writing down a list of their interests and hobbies to help you find a surprise gift is always the best way to go. If you’re not close enough to them, then surprise tickets can be a little more difficult to find unless you know their schedule and what kinds of events they like going to.
When choosing surprise tickets as a gift, it’s important that you figure out how much you want to spend on the surprise surprise gift. If you want to surprise surprise them with your presence, then it’s always better to spend less on the ticket itself and more on spending time with them. But if it’s a surprise surprise gift because you know they really wanted tickets but couldn’t afford them, then go all out! Spending what they would have spent will make your surprise even bigger and better.
Of course, the best way to give surprise tickets as a gift is to determine their schedule. You can do this by checking out their social media pages or asking some of their friends and family members that might be closer than you are. It’s also helpful if the person takes pictures of themselves at different events so you could use those pictures as reference points when giving surprise surprise surprise tickets as a gift.
Which Tickets Make the Perfect Gift?
When selecting which type of tickets to buy as a gift, the possibilities really are endless. Just look at all the different types of tickets available:
- Concert tickets
- Event tickets
- Sporting event tickets
- Movie tickets
- Amusement park tickets
- Museum tickets
- Travel tickets
- Festival tickets
- Theater tickets
- Ballet tickets
- Gallery tickets
- Zoo tickets
- Ski lift tickets
- Show tickets
The best advice we can give is to figure out what the person likes and find opportunities to purchase tickets that match their interests. If they are a big movie buff, try to score tickets to the premier viewing at the box office. If you know who their favorite football team is, try to get seats at the 50-yard-line for the next home game.
If you follow their interests, you’ll find the perfect ticket gift to give.
Creative Ways to Give Tickets as a Gift
Once you’ve decided on which tickets to purchase, now comes the toughest challenge yet: figuring out how to give them the tickets.
You could just put the tickets in an envelope and ask them to open it. There are lots of fun envelopes you can purchase online (in fact there’s a great assortment of fun ones here).
To help get the creative juices flowing, here are 15 creative ways you can use to give tickets as presents:
- Put the tickets in an obnoxiously large box for misdirection
- Find a picture to represent what you’re giving them and print it out
- Buy a small item that represents the gift and give it to them
- Scavenger hunt
- Take a selfie video and send it to them
- Come up with a puzzle for them to solve
- Put the tickets in a t-shirt or other fan memorabilia representing the tickets
- Make a creative themed gift basket
- Leave the tickets in a drawer or nightstand for them to find
- Say you need to have a serious call with them and surprise them
- Tag them on social media with a photo of the tickets
- Hide the tickets in a helium balloon and have them pop it
- Have a friend call them and pretend they’re from a radio show
- Make other plans with them and then right before leaving drop the bombshell of the real plans
- Write a poem revealing the event at the end
How Can I Give Tickets as a Gift Without Physical Tickets?
Nowadays, e-tickets are very common. To prevent counterfeit tickets many venues utilize specific QR code or barcodes that are only accessible through apps or sent via email.
No need to panic here! My wife and I have a fun way to get around this we’ve been doing since we were dating in college…
We always get some construction paper and draw up our own fake tickets to show as the present. One time I got tickets to see Wicked for us, and I used green paper and a black Sharpie pen to come up with two tickets (using our actual section, row, and seat numbers) as the gift to surprise her with.
You can always take a screenshot of the e-tickets on your phone and use that image creatively too. Just be careful if you share the barcode for your tickets on social media. There have been cases where someone repurposed the barcode and created duplicate tickets making the original ones invalid.
You can merge some of the creative ways we listed out above and make it fit your situation too if you don’t have the tickets physically in hand.
Where Should I Purchase Tickets?
There are plenty of ways to purchase tickets. You can buy tickets online, in person when you arrive, or even buy them off a friend. Depending on the type of ticket you’re trying to purchase will depend on the easiest and most effective way to secure your tickets.
Tickets make the perfect gift for dad, too! No matter what they are for, or how you buy them, tickets as a gift makes a lasting memory you all will remember.
