Building Guide
Step 1: The cutouts
Making such a precious piece of art ain’t gonna be easy, and we’ll require a lot of parts for the same. Go grab a piece (a big big piece) of cardboard and draw outlines for the following according to the dimensions provided in the image above. If you wish your arcade to stay with you for years, use MDF sheets instead of cardboard.
You need to take the following cutouts. The names are given with the corresponding to the numbers given in the image above.
The Roof of the Ball-street
The Hawaiian Wall and the Cuban Wall
The Base of the Garage
The Peek-a-boo
The walls to keep the scoreboard
The Neckpiece
The Legpiece
The Mexican Border
The Ball-street
The Red Carpet
Bodyguard – 1
Bodyguard – 2
Dunk-in Trudeau
The Gateway of Ball-street
The side walls of the Garage
Watchman – 1
Watchman – 2
Step 2: Making the Ground
Once you have all the cardboard pieces ready, let’s begin with the assembly. Firstly, we are going to make the Ground of the Basketball Arena.
Attach the two bodyguards to the Red Carpet as shown in the image. They direct the wrecking ball right to the garage!
Draw a horizontal center line across the Hawaiian and Cuban walls. Now, bring the red carpet and attach it to the lines drawn on the walls. Wonder why? This will elevate the red carpet which helps the balls to roll down easily and prevent them to stay on the ground.
Take the Gateway of Ball-street and attach it to the red carpet using Hot Glue.
Note: Make sure that you align the window on the Gateway of Ball-street to the gap between the bodyguards.
Now, glue Dunk-in Trudeau to the ground, i.e. to the red carpet and edges of Hawaiian and Cuban walls.
Thus, we have successfully made the ground of our basketball arena.
Step 3: Attaching the Servo
Take a micro servo and calibrate it using evive’s firmware. Switch ON the evive, go to Controls, then select Servos, choose Servo 1, and there you go!
Now attach it to the small hole given in the Gateway of Ball-street. Why servo? Will discuss in the later steps.
We will make sure that no wires are seen on the ground. Thus, make a small hole besides servo in the red carpet and pass the wires of the servo through it.
Step 4: Attaching the Roof and the Window
Time to cover the servo. Take the two walls of the scoreboard i.e the neck piece and the leg piece and glue them on the Roof of the Ball-street.
Now, fix the Roof of the Ball-street to the red carpet.
Once done, take the Peek-a-boo and fix a servo horn to it. Once the game starts, the servo head turns 90 degrees, which in turn opens the window to set the balls free. The Peek-a-boo remains closed through the game giving you a fixed number of chances.
Step 5: Making the Basketball Nets
Take three glasses of Polystyrene (the number depends on the difficulty level that you want to have for your game). Cut the base of the glasses so that the balls can easily pass through them.
Wait, we want basketball nets, not glasses. Let’s turn glasses into nets by perforating them to death. We have the nets now (the dumb nets).
Let’s make them smarter so that they can count the number of time the balls pass through them and multiply it by the score assigned to the net, thus giving you the total score.
Sounds like a lot of work? No, all we need is an IR Sensor. Roll a piece of paper using ice cream sticks and attach the IR sensor to it. We already have holes in our nets, so simply glue the IRs in one of the holes.
Now attach the (now smart) nets to the red carpet at the places of your choice.
Step 6: Making the Catapult
Take 6 small pieces (nearly 2 cm x 2 cm) of cardboard and make two stacks each of 3 pieces using glue. Now cut another cardboard of size (5 cm x 5 cm) and place these two stacks on the opposite side. Take a small and thin yet pointy stick (go pick a toothpick) and pass it through both the stacks.
Buy an ice cream and eat it, coz we will need the ice cream stick. Take the ice cream stick and place it on the center of the small stick using glue.
Now, take the similar small, thin, pointy sticks and fix them in the two stacks such that they face forward.
Now attach a rubber band across these sticks. Attach a cap on the ice cream stick to hold the ball.
You catapult is now ready, decorate it the way you want.
Once done, attach it to the Roof of the Ball-Street.
Step 7: Making the Garage
Once the balls walk out of the red carpet we need something to hold them. We’ll make a small box or garage for the same. Take the Base of the Garage and attach it to the Gateway of the Ball-street. Place the watchmen on both the sides of the garage. Finally, close the garage using the Mexican Border.
Step 8: Beautification of the Arena
The basketball arena seems so cardboardish, let’s add some colors to it. We’ve done it a certain way, you can color it the way you want to.
Step 9: Adding the Scoreboard
Now, both the arena and the players are ready all you need to do is to add the scoreboard.
We are going to use the TFT Display of evive to show the score, timings, and instructions.
Connect all the IR sensors and servo to evive and play.
Connect all the three IR Sensors and the micro servo in parallel and connect their GND to evive’s GND pin and VCC to evive’s 5V pin.
Now, time to connect the Signal Pins:
IR Sensor 1 – Digital Pin 2 of evive
IR Sensor 2 – Digital Pin 3 of evive
IR Sensor 3 – Digital Pin 4 of evive
Servo Motor – Digital Pin 5 of evive
Step 10: Code the Rules
You know the rules, your opposite player knows the rules – the last net gives you 50, the middle net gives you 20 and the net closest to you give 10. But, how will our scoreboard/ umpire know it? Just upload the PictoBlox code given below and its all set now.
Step 11: Conclusion
With this, your DIY Arcade Basketball Game is ready! Challenge your friends and make the most baskets to win the game!

PickUp Classic
Overview
Score 40 points to win
Each team starts with 5 cards - (3) Rookies and (2) Veterans. This is your Lineup (Personal Deck).
The teams use a common Trade Deck made of unique players to improve their roster. The top five cards from the trade deck are turned face up and used as a shared Trade Block. You can add a player from the Trade Block to your team by trading in your Player Cards on the court. The players you trade in and the player you add goes straight to your Bench.
Draw 3 cards from your lineup to start your turn. Whenever your Lineup (personal deck) is out of cards, shuffle your Bench and it will become your new Lineup. This way, you can use all of the new players you picked up from the Trade Block.
You can choose to end your turn by choosing a player to shoot with and roll the dice. If the roll matches one of the shooter’s Shot Zones, then the shot counts and the defender is sent to the Bench. But be careful, if the shot misses, then the shooter is sent to the Bench.
Speak Up - In PickUp, we encourage you to say all the actions you’re taking (trading, shooting, etc.) out loud so that your opponent knows what’s happening.
Setup
Shuffle the Trade Deck, draw the top five cards and place them face up to create the Trade Block.
Place a stack of 6 Front Office Deal Cards face up on the table. Leave space next to it for the Retirement Pool.
Each player creates a Lineup (Personal Deck) of 3 Rookies and 2 Veterans, shuffles it, and places it face down in front of them. Leave space next to these for your Bench (Discard Pile).
Place a Center Court Token on the table to indicate the center position of your court.
Each player rolls the dice - the player with the higher roll goes first. If there is a tie, roll again.
Bump fists with your opponent and wish each other good luck!
PickUp WarmUp
Overview
Teams go back and forth shooting with their team of 3 players.
Game ends when there are no more players left on the court or until one team has guaranteed scoring the most points.
We recommend playing a best-of-three or playing through the entire deck by letting each team randomly pick 3 new player cards.
If the game ends in a tie score, restart by picking new teams.
Special Abilities are listed at the bottom of the player card. You can play without special abilities or with them. We recommend beginning by not playing with special abilities and then add them into the gameplay so you get a better feel for how and when to use them.
For special abilities that require a “Lineup”, use the deck of player cards as a shared Lineup.
Setup
Pull out the Rookies, Veterans, and Front Office Deal cards and put them to the side. You don’t need them for this game.
Shuffle the deck of player cards and use it as a shared Lineup.
Each team randomly selects three cards from the Lineup. You can look at your cards once you select them.
Both teams place their cards face down on the 3v3 court, using the Center Court Token (or any object) to signify the center court position.
Flip your cards over and look at the matchups on the court. You can not move your cards into a different court position.
Each player rolls the dice - the player with the higher roll goes first. If there is a tie, roll again.
Bump fists with your opponent and wish each other good luck!

Before you buy a fairly popular board game called Basketball, you need to carefully consider the basic rules, read the description, and also find out additional information about the number of players, age restrictions. Additionally, experts recommend paying attention to the features of the production equipment.
Who is it for?
This table entertainment product is for two players. The manufacturer additionally notes that you cannot play this product alone - in fact, this makes no sense. A feature of the board game is the almost complete absence of age restrictions, which is why it is possible to purchase entertainment and educational products for children from 3 years old.
Even though adults can play table basketball, the manufacturer notes that this product is best suited for children. In the instructions, the company notes that their game is one of the best gifts for a preschooler, schoolchild or teenager.
Description
The board game called Basketball is a rather interesting entertainment product, presented in the form of a small basketball field 39x21 cm. The described game is widely known among both children and their parents.
The rather high popularity and recognition of the board game is explained by the fact that the OmZET production organization from Omsk has been producing this product for over 20 years. At the same time, it should be noted that a similar product was also produced on the territory of the USSR - subsequently, the trademark bought the rights and intellectual property of the game, which made it possible to produce it at its own facilities. The only difference between the modern version and the Soviet version is a slightly modified box design.
One of the advantages of the described tabletop product is its exciting play concept. So, the described products are able to develop in a child a rather important understanding of rivalry, sports interest, as well as the desire to reach certain heights. Among other things, an active game of sports topics instills a love for sports and gives a lot of impressions.
The manufacturer draws the attention of users to the fact that the described desktop products have a pronounced positive effect on the improvement of such an important skill as coordination of movements. The company also adds that playing Basketball frequently can significantly improve fine motor skills.
Rules
A distinctive feature of the described product is the absence of complex rules and voluminous instructions, due to which even a child can understand the basic concept of the gameplay. The rules are indicated directly on the back of the box, while inside you can find an additional sheet, which is no different in content from what is written on the package.
The first thing to do to start the game is to draw lots, by which the players can determine among themselves who will start first. And you should also pay attention to the fact that the duration of the gameplay is set directly by users, depending on free time. In addition to time limits, it is possible to introduce a rule under which a victory is credited to a player in the event of throwing one or another number of balls into the opponent's basket.
It should also be noted that the initial hit on the basketball is made exclusively from the position at which this game element was before the start of the game process. The ball is counted both in the case of hitting the plastic side of the basket, and in full hit inside. This feature is explained by some production nuances, due to which the ball in most cases does not completely fly into the basket.
To move the game plastic ball, the user needs to press one or another button located on both sides of the basketball field. If for one player the color of these structural parts is red, then for the other player the buttons are made in a blue tint. Pressing one or another button sets in motion the levers built into the field itself.
Lever elements are made in the form of small square recesses, while the buttons are indicated by numbers from 1 to 9. Since the number 10 is not in the described desktop product, its role is played by the number 0. Depending on the position of the ball on the playing field, the user should press that or another button.
Also note that any act of flipping the tabletop or any other physical action that could affect the location of the ball is unfair play. In the presence of such signs, the player must subtract 1 point from the total score. If the user repeats violations, the minus increases with each move.
Equipment
A characteristic feature of the popular sports-themed board game is the absence of any cards, tablets, chips, tokens, and many other familiar elements. Opening the box with the game, the user finds directly the playing field, made of durable plastic.
To prevent the ball from flying in all directions, as well as to ensure the safety of users, the manufacturer additionally equipped the field with a small transparent plastic dome. It should be noted that the game does not need to be assembled - just pull the product out of the box and start playing. In addition to the field, in the package you can find a small insert with several points of the rules.

Mind Controlled Table Basketball - Board Games: Board Blog
Today I will tell you about an unusual board game. It's called Mind Flex and is a very recent release. This is not a traditional printed board game at all, there is no field, no cards, no chips, no dice. Mind Flex is a small "obstacle course" through which you need to pass the ball. But - the most important thing - you need to do it without touching the ball and controlling it solely by thought .
Controlling a flying ball with just the power of thought - yesterday it was fantastic, today - the board game Mind Flex from the famous American company Mattel. This year, an unusual toy will already be available for purchase.
What is required of you? You need to lift a small light ball into the air and guide it through a series of obstacles. Without touching it or pressing any buttons, just thinking about it.
What is the secret? The ball itself is lifted and moved by directed air currents created by the machine. But you need to manage them through concentration. The latter is determined by the toy with the help of compact electroencephalogram sensors worn on the head. One has only to be distracted and relax - the ball falls: you lost.
Mind Flex is one of the new mind-reading toys. Well, suppose thoughts are a slight exaggeration. And yet, the device does a good job of knowing how focused a person is on a task. According to Mattel spokesman Tim Sheridan (Tim Sheridan), success in Mind Flex requires coordination of gaze and focus on the movements of the ball.
The
Mind Flex came about after several pioneers, first in the form of experiments and then in the form of industrial designs, brought cutting-edge developments in very compact and "smart" brain activity analyzers to the gaming industry. After all, the point is not so much to take the parameters of brain waves, but to interpret them correctly later.
It turned out funny. Recall the old table brain football. A little later, a number of firms quickly brought the tried-and-tested mind-reading principle to the field of computer games, and about a year ago, the first commercial brain interface appeared on the market.
And now the pioneers have an eminent follower. The debut of Mind Flex took place at the International CES 2009 consumer electronics exhibition held at the beginning of the year. This toy should hit the stores in September. The price is $80.
Just think! For $80, you can buy a thing that can capture thoughts (well, let it just be able to determine the degree of concentration of attention very roughly). It seems to me that this development has a bright future, and more than a dozen board games can be created on its basis. It is already possible to develop a multi-user version of Mind Flex , in which players compete among themselves "who will quickly carry the ball to the finish line", mental tug of war (who will be the first to pull the ball to their own half of the field), mental tennis (based on the classic computer "two rackets and a ball", in which players mentally control rackets), etc.
