Ian Garland Streaming, Kodi and VPN Expert

@IanGarland_ UPDATED: April 19, 2021

The 2020 NCAA college basketball season is here (starting Wednesday, November 25), but there are some notable changes in how it’s run. Due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, most games will take place without a live audience. Thankfully, most NCAA teams have existing TV contracts to broadcast games live. Watching the NCAA college basketball season online is now easier than ever. You can also live stream NCAA games abroad and without cable in most countries, including Canada, the UK, China, and more.

This guide only recommends official streaming services. NCAA broadcast rights are among the most fragmented in the sports broadcast market. Most conferences secure their own contracts. Some of the powerhouse schools also have separate contracts with broadcasters. With dozens of conferences and over 100 teams, you may find it difficult to get the exact stream you want. Streaming pirates take advantage of this situation by offering illegal streaming for many popular games. Nevertheless, pirated streaming sites carry security risks. We recommend you use official streaming sources for all NCAA basketball games.

If you’re looking to watch NCAA College Basketball while traveling out of state or abroad, you may find many of the streams are region-locked. This means you’ll need the help of a VPN to access your usual home services.

How to live stream NCAA College Basketball with a VPN

Here’s how to stream NCAA college basketball live streams online from anywhere:

  1. Create an account with a trustworthy VPN service provider. We recommend NordVPN although Surfshark and ExpressVPN are both great alternatives.
  2. Connect to a US-based server through your VPN on your chosen streaming device. We recommend US servers as most streaming services carrying NCAA games block connections from outside the US
  3. Log onto the website or app for your preferred streaming service.
  4. Launch your NCAA basketball streams. Whether viewing games live on on-demand, you can bypass geographic content blocks.

If you’re struggling to access a service and still getting an “out of region” message, you may need to adjust your browser settings. Try clearing your cache, browsing history, and cookies. Additionally, you may need to turn off or adjust your device location services.

WANT TO TRY THE TOP VPN RISK FREE?

NordVPN is offering a fully-featured risk-free 30-day trial if you sign up at this page. You can use the VPN rated #1 for live streaming basketball  without any restrictions for a month. Naturally, this is great if you're going on a short trip or want to stream your local squad's matches.

There are no hidden termsjust contact support within 30 days if you decide NordVPN isn't right for you and you'll get a full refund. Start your NordVPN trial here.

Where to watch NCAA College Basketball

NCAA college basketball is one of the most popular pastimes for American sports fans. It’s also specific to the US. Although some Canadian teams compete, you’ll be hard-pressed to find broadcast internationally. As such, watching both live and on-demand games legally requires access to a US streaming service. And if you’re abroad, that means a VPN to access those services.

In the US, you can watch most games through ESPN, ABC, CBS, CBS Sports Network, Fox Sports, NBC Sports Network, Pac-12 Network, and SEC Network. There is currently no streaming service that has all of these channels, so you’ll need to hop around across several different networks to get them.

Canadian fans can turn to Sportsnet Now, DAZN, and TSN for most broadcasts.

Not in the US or Canada? You may still have options to watch NCAA online abroad in countries like the UK, Australia, Canada, and even China if you use a VPN for available services. From a wide view, however, the vast majority of games will be available through US- and Canada-based streaming services.

United States NCAA Basketball streaming

Charting US broadcast rights for NCAA games come down to which conference the team is part of. There are over 30 NCAA Division 1 conferences. As a body, the NCAA does not secure broadcast rights; it leaves that up to teams and conferences. The result? Division 1 games happen all across the sports streaming environment through nearly a dozen different channels.

Use the chart below to navigate through the streaming options. The chart includes broadcast networks, conferences within that network, and the streaming services you can use to access that conference’s games.

Free networks

Free streaming is available through some of the networks listed in the chart above. If you want free games, explore PlutoTV, Twitch, and Xumo, all of which offer any games that stream online through Stadium.

Subscription networks

As noted in the service chart, you can access most channels carrying NCAA games through subscription-based multi-channel services, including Sling TV, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Vidgo, AT&T TV Now, and fuboTV. Some games will also broadcast live on CBS All Access and ESPN+.

Then there’s DAZN, which is a special case for American NCAA fans. In the US, DAZN does not offer NCAA college basketball. But it does provide Pac-12 Network games through its Canada service. We’ve found ExpressVPN works to bypass DAZN Canada, allowing you to access all Pac-12 content on DAZN Canada, even if you’re in the US.

All told, you have plenty of options to watch NCAA basketball online in the US. It’s worth mentioning that many of these services are region-locked, though, so if you’re traveling abroad, you’ll need a VPN to access them. NordVPN comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, allowing you to try it risk-free and claim a full refund if unsatisfied.

Canada NCAA Basketball streaming

If you’re in Canada, your best options to stream NCAA games are through DAZN (for PAC-12 Network), TSN (ESPN games) or RDS (ESPN games in French).

That said, those US streams are right next door, ready for the taking. All you need is a VPN like NordVPN and in some cases, a US payment option to create accounts for US subscription services. With those in hand, you can live stream NCAA games regardless of your location.

International NCAA Basketball streaming

Broadcast rights outside the US for NCAA conferences are exceedingly rare. With the exception of Canada, you’ll primarily need to use a VPN to access games from streaming services listed above in the section for US residents.

DAZN will also work to get Pac-12 Network games if you’re in a country where DAZN is available. Just use a VPN to unblock the Canada DAZN library to access those games.

Games streaming through Stadium are easy to get even without a US payment method. Just use a VPN with PlutoTVXumo, or Stadium’s Twitch.TV channel.

Can I watch NCAA basketball on Hulu?

Yes, but you'll need a Hulu + Live TV subscription. These cost $64.99 USD per month with ads or $70.99 per month without. Additionally, certain games may not be available due to local restrictions (although you can bypass these easily using a VPN).

Where can I stream the NCAA Women's basketball games?

WNCAA games are usually broadcast on ESPN, which means you can live stream them using WatchESPN, fuboTV, YouTube TV, or any other service that carries this channel. Notably, most of these offer a trial period, so if you're only interested in watching one game, you can usually do so for free.

Is using a VPN to stream basketball legal?

There actually aren't any laws in most countries that specifically forbid accessing geo-blocked content using a VPN. However, it usually goes against the terms of whichever streaming service you're using. The worst that's likely to happen is you'll be asked to turn the VPN off, though, so there's really nothing to worry about.

Can I use a free VPN to stream NCAA games abroad?

Free VPNs usually aren't a good choice for streaming, for several reasons. First, they tend to only have a handful of servers, which limits your choice of locations. Given how popular these services are, you'll usually also experience slow speeds, which isn't ideal when live streaming basketball.

Additionally, these services are often nowhere near as secure as they should be. In fact, according to research, around one in five fails to use any encryption at all, and a staggering 37% of free VPN apps tested came packaged with malware. For these reasons, we strongly recommend making a decision based on other factors (reputation, logging policy, and network size, for instance), instead of on price alone.

When can a school with six national championships be considered an underdog? The Tar Heels, vanquishers of the defending champions, are the lowest seeded team still in contention, and they've set up a mouth-watering clash against their fiercest rivals.

The Blue Devils are preparing to send Mike Krzyzewski into retirement in style, but what a story it would be if the Tar Heels managed to stamp all over that fairytale vision, especially with rookie coach Hubert Davis running the show.

The Jayhawks are the last No.1 seed standing, and feel that they're owed a title after the tournament they looked destined to win had to be canceled two years ago. They face the Wildcats, who destroyed them at this very stage four years ago, and look formidable with their free throw accuracy.

It's crunch time, so follow our guide below for where to watch a 2022 March Madness live stream and catch all the NCAA hoops action online from anywhere - including some great ways to watch March Madness free online in certain countries.

March Madness predictions 2022

March Madness seedings mean something, it's just not always good. Only once have all four No.1 seeds made it to the Final Four, all the way back in 2008.

The curse of the reigning champions struck down once again this year, the Baylor Bears packing up early after falling to the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Florida were the last team to repeat all the way back in 2007, and in the past five tournaments now the defending champs have bowed out in either the first or second round.

Fellow top seeds Arizona and Gonzaga also went home with their tails between their legs, leaving Kansas as the only pre-tournament favorite still in with a shot at the title.

2022 March Madness venues

The 2022 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament has been more or less restored to its pre-pandemic format, with games set to be played at multiple venues all around the country.

The National Championship Game will take place at Caesars Superdome, the home of the NFL's New Orleans Saints, while other big-name venues include Fiserv Forum, Chase Center, United Center and Wells Fargo Center.

The full list of venues follows:

  • University of Dayton Arena, Dayton, Ohio
  • Moda Center, Portland, Oregon
  • KeyBank Center, Buffalo, New York
  • Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Dickies Arena, Fort Worth, Texas

How to live stream basketball outside the US

If you live in a country where there is no official broadcast, you can watch college basketball or play games.'play locally due to regional restrictions, then you'll be best to use VPN service dial a number in the US where there is coverage.

A VPN makes this easy as it allows you to change your IP address so that you are in a completely different place. Most VPNs are also pretty easy to use. We’ve reviewed hundreds of VPNs and can recommend ExpressVPN as the best VPN currently available:

Express VPN comes with a 30-day money back guarantee and is now the best rated VPN in the world. You can watch on many devices at the same time, including Smart TV, Fire TV Stick, PC, Mac, iPhone, Android phone, iPad, tablets, etc.

Check out Express VPN and get three months free on an annual plan. In addition to helping you set up a b-ball, VPNs are opening up a world of blocked websites, international Netflix directories, and much safer surfing.

If you're planning to watch the 2019-20 college basketball season on TV, then you'll need a cable package or streaming service that gives you access to ESPN, CBS, CBS Sports Network, TBS, TNT, TruTV, and FS1. Regional sports networks such as Fox Sports Networks and Stadium also broadcast NCAA games, but their coverage is usually limited to regional games.

However, if you know which conference your favorite team belongs to, you can make sure your cable package has a network that will show their games. For example, CBS will show games from AAC, ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC, while CBS Sports Network will show games from A10, Big East, Mac, Mountain West, NEC and Patriot. Conference League. However, ESPN networks (including ESPN and ESPNU) have the rights to broadcast games from just about every conference, so you'll want to make sure the cable TV or streaming service package you choose has ESPN.

In addition, some conferences have their own networks, such as the ACC conference with the ACC network, the Big Ten conference with the Big Ten network, and the Pac-12 network with the Pac-12 network, for example. While it can be confusing, if you have access to ESPN, CBS, CBS Sports Network, TBS, TNT, TruTV, and FS1, you'll be able to watch most of the college basketball games that will be played this season.

Admission to universities in the USA and Canada, in the leagues NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA and USPORTS

University studies and basketball in the USA or Canada

More and more basketball players from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries continue their basketball career and education at American colleges and universities.

PFS is the absolute world leader in providing basketball scholarships to universities in the US and Canada. Our clients play at all levels of college basketball in America, including at the most famous universities such as Stanford, Gonzaga, UCLA.

PFS objectives for US universities

Saving you money

Our clients receive exclusive conditions for studying at American Universities. Working with us, families save an average of 50-70% of the possible costs of teaching a child basketball player abroad. The savings are often in the tens of thousands of dollars a year.

How do we do it? We know the mechanisms of working with scholarships and grants, as well as the universities themselves are interested in partnership conditions due to the large number of our clients from all over the world - this allows us to receive exclusive offers for our clients.

Finding the right university for a young basketball player

Our client can be either one of the best young athletes in Europe, or a novice athlete who is only striving for great success in sports - the task of PFS from the whole variety of American universities is to select the university that suits all the criteria for a young athlete, where he can maximize his potential.

Essentials you need to know about college basketball in the US

You need to be a world class star if you want to play basketball and study in the USA - is the main myth we want to dispel!

You will be surprised, but in the USA, both at school and at university, an athlete of any level can play basketball - both a future NBA player and one for whom basketball is just a hobby. There are more than 1,500 universities in America, and basketball is available in almost every one of them.

The system of any sport in the USA, and basketball in particular, is built in such a way that sports are included in the system of school and university sports, i.e. in fact, in America there are no “basketball schools” or “youth clubs” analogous to our SDUSSHORs, where the general education school and the sports school are third-party organizations and big sport is incompatible with study.

In the US, athletes fully combine their sports career and education.

Thanks to the inclusion of sports in the curriculum of schools and universities, in the US you can study, for example, at Harvard or Stanford and play on the varsity basketball team with future NBA players.

The American sports system has all the best advantages for athlete development - the most gearing sports infrastructure, the strongest coaches, a huge number of teams at the school and university level. The only caveat is that studying in the USA is very expensive.

However, in America there is a program sports scholarships , which helps athletes reduce the cost of training. A scholarship in the USA means a discount on tuition, i.e. this is not money that is handed out, but the amount that the school or university subtracts from the cost of your education.

Our company helps to receive scholarships for training athletes of various levels of sports training, age and physical data.

What is the NCAA American Collegiate League?

Frequently Asked Questions about Studying Abroad

What does it take to get into a school and sports team in the US/Europe?

For most educational and sports institutions, the package of documents is small: translation of school grades for the last 3 years of study into English, extract of vaccinations from a medical book, bank statement on the availability of funds to pay for the school year at school.

What if I have no significant sporting achievements and my family is not able to pay for my education in the US/Europe?

If you do not have great achievements in sports and your family is not able to finance the minimum budget for education in the US / Europe (from $10,000 per academic year), then today we will not be able to offer you the opportunity to study and sports abroad.

What does your agency offer?

The main goal of our work is to select a list of schools / universities / clubs that meet the criteria of the athlete and his family, in which he will receive a scholarship / discount on education. Further, we guide the client throughout the entire process of admission, execution of all documents, communication with coaches and representatives of educational institutions, and also provide visa support after admission.

What educational and sports institutions do you work with?

We have more than 1,000 schools/universities/sports clubs and academies in our database with whom we cooperate and every day we expand the list of partners. Nevertheless, the candidacy of each applicant and the possible amount of the scholarship must be personally discussed with each educational / sports institution separately.

Why should we contact you specifically to select a team and school in the US/Europe?

We have been on the market since 2007 and we have extensive experience in working with athletes of all levels from all over the world - our knowledge of the American / European sports and educational programs market, as well as a huge network of contacts, allow our clients to receive exclusive offers. We have been on the market for so long that some of our clients, after graduating from the USA, have already become trainers in American schools and universities themselves and help our current clients get the best training conditions.

How safe is it to send a child alone to the US/Europe?

Safe. Educational institutions are fully legally responsible for foreign students. In many educational institutions, strict discipline and children are constantly under the supervision of employees of educational institutions, as well as the presence of a supervisor and a medical office.

Can you help an athlete of any level get into a school/university/club school in the US or Europe and receive a tuition discount?

We can help an athlete of any skill level and age to receive a scholarship in the range of 30-70% of the official tuition fee. Our knowledge of the US/European sports and education market, as well as our huge network of contacts, allows our clients to receive exclusive offers, regardless of their level of sports training.

Who determines how much scholarship/discount I will receive and by what criteria?

Employees of our agency evaluate an athlete according to a number of basic criteria: physical data, level of technical and athletic training, sports IQ, the level of competition at which you are currently performing, statistics, achievements and other parameters. Athletes provide us with video clips of their game moments and statistics from performances, which allows us to give the most accurate forecast about the athlete's prospects for his training in the USA/Europe. Further assessment of the athlete is carried out by the coaches of schools / universities / clubs, guided by our characteristics and the above-mentioned data on the athlete.

What level of English is required for admission?

It is desirable to speak English at least at the pre-intermediate level, but even for athletes with basic or no English, we can find sports and academic programs in the US/Europe. Many institutions have an adaptation program that helps foreign students learn English and join a new team.

How do schools take athletes if they can't see them?

Scouting and selection are very developed in the USA and Europe, basically long screenings are our Soviet “know-how”, abroad, at almost all levels, athletes are taken by video and statistics. In order to increase your chances of getting into a good club, prepare a video clip of game episodes, a link to your statistics, as well as information about your achievements.

How are things with visas? Are there any problems getting them?

Obtaining a student visa (aka study visa) is 1 month (on average). There are no problems with visas now.

Is there a guarantee that the child will be given playing time in the team?

Game time cannot be guaranteed. Every athlete has ups and downs during the season. We try to assess the level of an athlete and offer him the educational / sports institution where he will really be in demand.

If a child travels and doesn't like the school/team, what then?

In this case, we talk with the child, understand the cause of dissatisfaction, if he does not like everyday life or he is faced with everyday misunderstandings, then we try to influence the situation by joint efforts. In order not to get into such situations, we do not cooperate with educational / sports institutions about which we receive bad reviews.

Where do children live while studying abroad?

In the US/Europe there are 2 types of accommodation: campus or host family. The campus is a hostel. Typically, the campus is located on the territory of the educational institution, it is inhabited exclusively by students of the educational institution.
