The NBA Playoffs is an annual tournament that ends the National Basketball Association’s season in the Spring. It consists of the Play-In tournament, the First Round, the Conference Semifinals, the Conference Finals, and the NBA Finals. Each round of the Playoffs lasts two weeks, and the playoffs themselves last a total of eight weeks. The playoffs usually begin in mid-April and last until mid-June. The playoffs consist of the top eight teams from both the Eastern and Western conferences, and those teams from each conference compete to eliminate each other until the last team in each conference plays each other in the finals.

The NBA Play-In Tournament

Purpose of the NBA Play-In Tournament

The NBA Play-In tournament was added to the playoffs to give the ninth and tenth place teams in each conference a chance to play in the playoffs.  The Play-In tournament consists of the seventh through tenth highest-ranked teams in each conference, seventh and eighth place compete against each other, and ninth and tenth place compete against each other. The winner of the 7/8 game automatically gets the seventh spot in the playoffs. The loser of the 9/10 game is eliminated, and the winner plays the loser of the 7/8 game. The winner of that game gets the eighth spot in the playoffs.

When Was the NBA Play-In Tournament Created?

The NBA Play-In was introduced in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic because the NBA sought to still have their playoffs in a bubble despite still being in the middle of the global pandemic. Before the 2021 Playoffs, the NBA announced the Play-In Tournament would continue to be a part of the postseason regardless of the state of the pandemic’s progression.

First Round

There are four matchups in each conference, and each matchup has seven games. The first team to win the most out of seven games in each matchup advances to the next round. There is no need to play all seven games in many instances because a team wins four games before game seven. In the first round, first place plays against eighth, second place plays seventh, third place plays sixth, and fourth place plays fifth. The team with the better record has the home-court advantage, meaning four out of the seven games played will be at their home stadium.

Home Court Advantage

Home court advantage during the playoffs is determined by using each team's ranking or place; for example, when third-place plays sixth, third place will begin the matchup with home-court advantage. The first two games of the matchup are played at the court of whichever team has the highest-ranking or place. Those first two home games are followed by two away games, one home game, one away game, and one home game; however, not all of those games are played each matchup depending on whether or not one team wins four games before all seven have been played.

Conference Semifinals

The NBA playoffs Conference Semifinals is the second round of the playoffs. In each conference, the winners of each of the four previous matchups face off against each other in another round best-of-seven games. The rules for home-court advantage continue to apply in the Conference Semifinals. Home court advantage is very important in the Conference Semifinals; data shows that teams with home-court advantage won the Conference Semifinals 80% of the time.

Conference Finals

The NBA Playoffs Conference Finals are the third round of the playoffs. In the Conference Finals, the final two teams in each conference compete against each other in the final round of seven games. The rules for home-court advantage also apply in the Conference Finals. Home-court advantage is less important in the Conference Finals; data shows that teams with home-court advantage won the Conference Finals 50% of the time. The Conference Finals show the best team in the Eastern and Western conferences, respectively. The team that wins the most games in each Conference Final moves on to the NBA Finals and has a chance to win the NBA Championship Title.

NBA Finals

The NBA Playoffs Finals is the final round of the playoffs and determines the overall winner of the tournament. The rules for home-court advantage apply in the NBA Finals, and the advantage is very important in the NBA Finals; data shows that teams with home-court advantage win the NBA Finals 80% of the time. The Finals are the last set of seven games and the team that wins the most games claims the Larry O’Brian Championship Trophy.

How do the NBA Playoffs and Finals work

The Playoffs and, in particular, the Finals, are the most exciting part of the entire NBA season. Millions of people are glued to the TV in order to root for their favourite team, in hopes of reaching the most sought goal: the Larry O’Brien Trophy!

Here it is a little guide on how the second part of the NBA season, the most exciting and awaited one, works: the post-season.

How do the NBA Playoffs work

The Playoffs represent the second part of the NBA season after the Regular Season. The best Eastern and Western Conferences’ teams confront each other in a tournament consisting of three rounds: quarterfinals, semifinals and Conference Final.

The winning teams of the respective Conference Finals will confront each other in the NBA Finals, deciding the winning franchise of the NBA Title.

How many NBA teams enter the Finals?

There are 16 teams in the Playoffs: the top eight teams in the Western Conference and the top eight teams in the Eastern Conference. The 16 qualifiers are paired based on their final position in Regular Season’s ranking:

  • first vs eighth;
  • second vs seventh;
  • third vs sixth;
  • fourth vs fifth.

Starting from 2019-2020 season, the last team in each Conference to enter the post-season is decided by a mini-tournament, the Play-In.

The Playoffs use a best-of-seven elimination format (the teams winning 4 matches pass the turn). The home field advantage is in favor of the team that achieved the best record during the Regular Season.

The format is 2-2-1-1-1, that is the team with the best record plays at home the first two matches of the series, then it is up to the other team to host. Finally, there will be alternating home games until Game-7, if necessary.

How do the NBA Finals work

The NBA Finals are the last stage of the season. The winning teams of the Western and of the Eastern Conferences partecipate in it.

The Finals’ format is the same as in the Playoffs: best-of-seven one, the first team to win four matches wins the NBA Title.

The home field advantage is assigned to the franchise with the best W-L record in the Regular Season, who will play at home Game-1, Game-2, Game-5 and Game-7, if necessary. The other team will play at home Game-3, Game-4 and Game-6, if necessary.

The winning team will receive the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy.

Popular games now are football, hockey, tennis and, of course, basketball. At the same time, basketball is in no way inferior to football in terms of entertainment and dynamism. In America, basketball is considered the second most popular sport after baseball. In addition, the strongest basketball league in the world is undoubtedly the North American NBA.

The NBA playoffs (also known as the NBA playoffs) are closely related to eSports.

Esports players choose the NBA playoffs because the matches are fast paced with a very tight schedule, and the tournament itself is played in a best-of-four format. The NBA 2K league is similar.

What is the NBA playoff draw?

Who reached the final this season?

Before entering the 2022 NBA playoffs, all the top teams in two conferences, including the Celtics, Warriors, Grizzlies, Heat, Suns and Bucks, had a chance to make it to the end .

The Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors competed for the NBA Finals. The Celtics have won 17 championships, most recently in 2008.

Although the Golden State won the championship as recently as 2018, they have only won five NBA championships before.

Who became the champion of the NBA 2022?

You probably already know that the Golden State Warriors won this year. For them, this is the fourth championship in the last 8 years. The team became triumphant in 2015, 2017, 2018 and finally 2022. The Warriors are one of the best dynasties in NBA history. For many fans above - only the Chicago Bulls, who dominated almost all 90th years of the last century.

Stars such as Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and Phil Jackson have been replaced by new faces. First of all, Stephen Curry shines brightest in Golden State. He received the MVP of the NBA Finals - a long-awaited trophy, which has not yet been in the collection of the leader of the "warriors". The tears of the player in the final only confirm the importance of this achievement, which can now be added to the next championship ring.

Why do eSports fans like NBA playoffs?

Basketball is the perfect game for the console, as it requires both quick reactions and team management skills to succeed. Excitement adds the fact that it belongs to the category "PvP online games", where you can fight with a real opponent or have fun with a friend.

In addition, the basketball simulator contains elements of a strategy game where you need to create a team with great potential. If you want to download strategies, then opt for NBA 2K.

Most Valuable Players (MVPs) get better stats in NBA 2K games.

Much of what happens in the real world is later transferred to NBA 2K games. For example, with the release of the next update, the MVP statistics from the NBA playoffs often improve.

Take, for example, Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was awarded the Bill Russell Award in the 2021 NBA Finals. Subsequently, Antetokounmpo received a whopping 9 rating.7 in NBA 2K22. He became the highest rated star in the game, while he was rated 91 in 2017-18. (now his rating is 95) and Kevin Durant in 2018 (his current rating is 96).

Everyone loves to predict who will win the NBA playoffs. Perhaps the best way to accurately predict the winner is to play out different scenarios in NBA 2K22.

At the end of the regular season, you can organize a tournament using the NBA playoff schedule with the respective teams. Playing with friends, you can determine the champion of the entire series.

If you play in PVP mode against an opponent of the same level as you, it is likely that the teams with the best statistics will advance to the final. It will be possible to make a fairly accurate forecast. I wonder if you can guess exactly which team will be crowned the winner?

Try different options to get the highest prediction probability. Of course, you won’t be able to download such games for free, but NBA 2K is worth the money.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is a professional basketball league in North America, specifically the United States and Canada. Formally divided into two conferences: Eastern and Western. Each of these conferences is divided into several subgroups (divisions).

The League was founded on June 6, 1946 in New York City, originally called the Basketball Association of America (BAA). It consisted of 2 divisions that included 11 teams: Boston Celtics, Chicago Stags, Cleveland Rebels, Detroit Falcons, New York Knickerbockers, Philadelphia Warriors, Pittsburgh Ironmen, Providence Steamrollers, St. Louis Bombers, Toronto Huskies and Washington Capitols. 3 August 19In 1949, the BAA agreed with the National Basketball League (NBL) to merge, the newly organized league was named the National Basketball Association (NBA). 11 teams from the NBL and 6 teams from the BAA were divided into 3 divisions. In 1950, 6 teams - Anderson Packers, Chicago Stags, Denver Nuggets, Shebogian Redskins, St. Louis Bombers and Waterlow Hawks - left the NBA (11 clubs, 2 divisions). In 1975, four American Basketball Association clubs joined the NBA.

In June, the league arranges draft where teams can add players to their ranks. Any player who has reached the age of 19 can take part in the draft. Since 1985, a draft lottery has been held to determine the order in which teams are selected. It determines the clubs that will be selected first in the draft. It depends on the performance of the club in the past season (teams that took the last places in the championship receive the first right to choose newcomers).
Clubs are allowed to trade draft picks for either a different position in the queue or players from other teams.

The NBA is made up of 30 professional clubs in the US and Canada. The teams are divided into two conferences. Western and Eastern, each of which has three divisions. Clubs play 82 games during the regular season. At the end of the NBA regular season, the top 8 teams from each conference advance to the playoffs, a series of elimination games up to 4 wins. The winners of the Western and Eastern Conferences meet in the finals to determine the NBA champion.

NBA Playoffs is an elimination tournament in which teams play a series of matches up to four wins. If the match ends in a draw during regular time, overtime is played. In the playoffs, overtime is a full 12-minute quarter. A series of games is played according to the scheme 2-2-1-1-1. The team that finishes higher in the regular season has home court advantage by playing one game more at home. Games 1, 2 and, if applicable, games 5 and 7 are played at that team's court, with the remaining games played at the team's arena for the lower ranked team in the regular season. The final series of playoff games is played in a 2-3-2 formation.

NBA All-Star Game is held annually in February during All-Star Weekend, featuring players voted by the fans. The game is played between players from the Western and Eastern conferences. Officially, the first All-Star Game was played in the 1950/51 season on March 2, 1951 in Boston. The All-Star Game is the apotheosis of a stellar weekend, which is, first of all, a grandiose show where the sports component fades into the background.

The National Basketball Association has 12 annual awards to honor teams and players for their contributions. The highest award for winning the championship is Larry O'Brien Cup . The Larry O'Brien NBA Championship Trophy is the National Basketball Association's championship trophy and is awarded to the team that wins the best-of-four final playoff series. The cup was first introduced in 1978 and is awarded annually to the winner of the NBA Finals.

Goblet, made from 14.5 pounds of silver 925 carat and plated with 24 carat gold, 2 feet high. The cup is made in the form of a ball flying into a basket. The basketball is 9 inches in diameter, the same as the official ball size. The cup is valued at $13,500 and is made by the silver factory Tiffany & Co. annually. The winning team keeps the cup for permanent storage. The year and team name is engraved on the cup, often on display at the team's home arena.
The Cup was made in 1978 and replaced its predecessor, the Walter A. Brown Cup. The trophy is named after former NBA commissioner Larry O'Brien, who has held the position since 1975 to 1983. Prior to joining the NBA, O'Brien served as U.S. Postmaster General under President Lyndon Johnson from 1965 to 1968.
In addition to honorary titles and cups, symbolic teams are selected annually - all stars, newcomers and the team of all defense stars. The composition of teams is determined by voting.

Salary cap (salary cap) - a document that takes into account all the nuances: a salary limit is set for all categories of basketball players - from beginners to those who have played 10 or more seasons. Maximum team spending on NBA player salaries introduced at 1984 league commissioner David Stern. A rookie cannot earn less than $385,000, but in the first six years, a basketball player is not entitled to claim an annual income above $11 million. Restrictions are introduced so that salaries do not grow in leaps, but gradually, giving the club owner a chance to plan expenses in advance.

The NBA salary cap is soft. For 10-year veterans, annual income is capped at $15.3 million. But if a veteran signs a new contract with his former club as a free agent, he has the right to demand an increase in the contract. The measure is aimed at the stability of the composition, because the public gets used to their favorite stars. Moving from team to team, the player automatically falls under the restrictions.
Salary cap can be exceeded - and significantly. However, club owners have to pay a special tax (luxury tax) to the league budget in the amount of 100% of the excess for excess. This money is distributed among the rest of the teams - equalizing the financial capabilities of the clubs. The following clause is written in the collective agreement between the NBA and its union: the contract can be terminated if the salary costs are higher than 48.04% of club income (this includes income from the sale of rights to television broadcasts, tickets, sales of souvenirs), because otherwise, according to according to experts, the sports business will be unprofitable.

Players, coaches and officials who have had successful careers may be inducted into "Basketball Hall of Fame" . A player cannot be selected for three years after the end of his basketball career. If the player's merits are considered significant enough, then it is possible to be inducted into the "Basketball Hall of Fame" before the end of this three-year period. Unlike other American Halls of Fame, like American football and baseball, not only American professional basketball players, but also amateurs and Europeans can enter the basketball hall of fame. There are also six teams inducted into the Hall of Fame. At 19In 1985, the Hall of Fame moved to another building on the East Shore of Connecticut, and on September 28, 2002, the Hall of Fame moved to its third building in its history. The 7,400 m² complex cost $45 million. Accepted into the Hall of Fame at the annual sessions, although in 1968 and 2007. no one was admitted to the Hall. For 2008, the Hall of Fame consists of 285 people, three of them (John Wooden, Lenny Wilkens, Bill Sherman) were accepted twice - as players and as coaches.
