Admission to universities in the USA and Canada, in the leagues NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA and USPORTS
University studies and basketball in the USA or Canada
More and more basketball players from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries continue their basketball career and education at American colleges and universities.
PFS is the absolute world leader in providing basketball scholarships to universities in the US and Canada. Our clients play at all levels of college basketball in America, including at the most famous universities such as Stanford, Gonzaga, UCLA.
PFS objectives for US universities
Saving you money
Our clients receive exclusive conditions for studying at American Universities. Working with us, families save an average of 50-70% of the possible costs of teaching a child basketball player abroad. The savings are often in the tens of thousands of dollars a year.
How do we do it? We know the mechanisms of working with scholarships and grants, as well as the universities themselves are interested in partnership conditions due to the large number of our clients from all over the world - this allows us to receive exclusive offers for our clients.
Find the right university for a young basketball player
Our client can be either one of the best young athletes in Europe, or a novice athlete who is only striving for great success in sports - the task of PFS from the whole variety of American universities is to select the university that suits all the criteria for a young athlete, where he can maximize his potential.
Essentials you need to know about college basketball in the USA
You need to be a world class star if you want to play basketball and study in the USA - is the main myth we want to dispel!
You will be surprised, but in the USA, both at school and at university, an athlete of any level can play basketball - both a future NBA player and one for whom basketball is just a hobby. There are more than 1,500 universities in America, and basketball is available in almost every one of them.
The system of any sport in the USA, and basketball in particular, is built in such a way that sports are included in the system of school and university sports, i.e. in fact, in America there are no “basketball schools” or “youth clubs” analogous to our SDUSSHORs, where the general education school and the sports school are third-party organizations and big sport is incompatible with study.
In the US, athletes fully combine their sports career and education.
Thanks to the inclusion of sports in the curriculum of schools and universities, in the US you can study, for example, at Harvard or Stanford and play on the varsity basketball team with future NBA players.
The American sports system has all the best advantages for athlete development - the most gearing sports infrastructure, the strongest coaches, a huge number of teams at the school and university level. The only caveat is that studying in the USA is very expensive.
However, in America there is a athletic scholarship program that helps athletes reduce their tuition costs. A scholarship in the USA means a discount on tuition, i.e. this is not money that is handed out, but the amount that the school or university subtracts from the cost of your education.
Our company helps to receive scholarships for training athletes of various levels of sports training, age and physical data.
What is the NCAA American Collegiate League?
The NCAA League is the major American college sports league in which most American universities compete.
In the structure of the NCAA, universities are divided into 3 divisions, depending on the level of basketball at the university.
In addition to the NCAA, there are other student leagues, the main ones are: NAIA (analogous to the 2nd division of the NCAA), NJCAA (junior college league), USPORTS (Canadian student league). Our company works with all of these leagues.
NCAA Division 1 - The best young basketball players from around the world play in it, this is a transitional stage for future NBA and Euroleague players. To be on the NCAA Division 1 varsity team, you must be on or recruited for your country's youth team and have significant international accomplishments.
NCAA Division 2-3, NAIA league, USPORTS - this is also a very high level of basketball, but it is more accessible to most young boys and girls involved in basketball at the level of sports schools and sports schools.
Estimated cost of studying at a university in the USA
What expenses should a family prepare for if they want to send a basketball player child to a university or college in America while working with PFS?
NCAA Div 2-3, NAIA, NJCAA: minimum $10,000-13,000 per year
This is the minimum estimated budget for a year of study for 95% of young basketball players from the CIS countries that a family will need to pay for a university / college in the USA when working with our company. The amount includes tuition at the university, accommodation and meals, a sports program.
On average, a year of study at a university in the United States for a foreign student (official cost, without scholarships and discounts) will be $30,000-70,000 per year, depending on the location of the institution, type of residence and education elite.
Our company helps young basketball players receive scholarships/discounts from the official cost of educational institutions, reducing the cost of education by tens of thousands of dollars a year.
95% of the young basketball players we mentioned above are the majority of young boys and girls involved in basketball at the level of sports schools and sports schools, who are not included in the national youth team of their country and do not have significant basketball achievements at the international level.
NCAA Division 1 - 100% coverage of all tuition fees.
For the most talented basketball players in Europe.
In the USA, at the NCAA Division 1 level, the full coverage format is practiced, when the university fully sponsors the costs of training, accommodation and meals for the athlete. This offer is relevant only for the most promising young basketball players in Europe. This offer covers 1-5% of basketball players in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries (depending on the level of development of basketball in the country).
A complete combination of education and sports
Only in the USA youth sports are included in the program of schools and universities. Playing basketball in the USA, an athlete fully combines basketball and studies, thus receiving a full-fledged education that you will need to build your future professional career outside of sports.
International Diploma Recognized Worldwide
After graduating from high school and university in the US, you receive a diploma that is recognized worldwide. With an American diploma, you will be a sought-after specialist both at home and in the USA, Europe or other countries of the world.
Experience of living abroad and native English
At a young age, the child will experience independent living in another country, become more aware and responsible for himself and his actions. Our experience shows that the majority of young men and women who have experience of living and studying abroad are more successful in building their careers in the modern world, and knowledge of English, which, after studying in the USA and immersing in the environment, will be at the level of a native speaker, will allow you to easily establish contacts around the world. the world.

Frequently Asked Questions about Studying Abroad
What does it take to get into a school and sports team in the US/Europe?
For most educational and sports institutions, the package of documents is small: translation of school grades for the last 3 years of study into English, extract of vaccinations from a medical book, certificate from the bank on the availability of funds to pay for the school year at school.
What if I don't have a significant athletic record and my family is unable to pay for my education in the US/Europe?
If you do not have great achievements in sports and your family is not able to finance the minimum budget for education in the US / Europe (from $10,000 per academic year), then today we will not be able to offer you the opportunity to study and sports abroad.
What does your agency offer?
The main goal of our work is to select a list of schools / universities / clubs that meet the criteria of the athlete and his family, in which he will receive a scholarship / discount on education. Further, we guide the client throughout the entire process of admission, execution of all documents, communication with coaches and representatives of educational institutions, and also provide visa support after admission.
What educational and sports institutions do you work with?
We have more than 1,000 schools/universities/sports clubs and academies in our database with whom we cooperate and every day we expand the list of partners. Nevertheless, the candidacy of each applicant and the possible amount of the scholarship must be personally discussed with each educational / sports institution separately.
Why should we contact you specifically for team and school selection in the US/Europe?
We have been on the market since 2007 and we have vast experience in working with athletes of all levels from all over the world - our knowledge of the American / European sports and educational programs market, as well as a huge network of contacts, allow our clients to receive exclusive offers. We have been on the market for so long that some of our clients, after graduating from the USA, have already become trainers in American schools and universities themselves and help our current clients get the best training conditions.
How safe is it to send a child alone to the US/Europe?
Safe. Educational institutions are fully legally responsible for foreign students. In many educational institutions, strict discipline and children are constantly under the supervision of employees of educational institutions, as well as the presence of a supervisor and a medical office.
Can you help an athlete of any level get into a school/university/club school in the US or Europe and receive a tuition discount?
We can help an athlete of any skill level and age to receive a scholarship in the range of 30-70% of the official tuition fee. Our knowledge of the US/European sports and education market, as well as our huge network of contacts, allows our clients to receive exclusive offers, regardless of their level of sports training.
Who determines how much scholarship/discount I will receive and by what criteria?
Employees of our agency evaluate an athlete according to a number of basic criteria: physical data, level of technical and athletic training, sports IQ, the level of competition at which you are currently performing, statistics, achievements and other parameters. Athletes provide us with video clips of their game moments and statistics from performances, which allows us to give the most accurate forecast about the athlete's prospects for his training in the USA/Europe. Further assessment of the athlete is carried out by the coaches of schools / universities / clubs, guided by our characteristics and the above-mentioned data on the athlete.
What level of English is required for admission?
It is desirable to speak English at least at the pre-intermediate level, but even for athletes with basic or no English, we can find sports and academic programs in the USA/Europe. Many institutions have an adaptation program that helps foreign students learn English and join a new team.
How do schools take on athletes if they can't see them?
Scouting and selection are very developed in the USA and Europe, basically long screenings are our Soviet “know-how”, abroad, at almost all levels, athletes are taken by video and statistics. In order to increase your chances of getting into a good club, prepare a video clip of game episodes, a link to your statistics, as well as information about your achievements.
How are things with visas? Are there any problems getting them?
Obtaining a student visa (aka study visa) is 1 month (on average). There are no problems with visas now.
Is there a guarantee that the child will be given playing time in the team?
Game time cannot be guaranteed. Every athlete has ups and downs during the season. We try to assess the level of an athlete and offer him the educational / sports institution where he will really be in demand.
If a child travels and doesn't like the school/team, what then?
In this case, we talk with the child, understand the cause of dissatisfaction, if he does not like everyday life or he is faced with everyday misunderstandings, then we try to influence the situation by joint efforts. In order not to get into such situations, we do not cooperate with educational / sports institutions about which we receive bad reviews.
Where do children live while studying abroad?
In the US/Europe, 2 types of accommodation are common: campus or host family. The campus is a hostel. Typically, the campus is located on the territory of the educational institution, it is inhabited exclusively by students of the educational institution. Each building has a strict division by gender and age, as well as the obligatory presence of a supervisor and a medical office. Host families are ordinary families that accept foreign students. A fairly common and prestigious type of employment in the United States. Often these families are related to the school (for example, one of the children in the family is already studying at this school).
At what age is it better to go abroad?
This is the most common question that parents of athletes ask us. We consider the optimal age of moving to be 14 years old, at this age the child is no longer so attached to his parents, he is independent enough to take care of himself. In addition, this is the best age to learn a language.

First awards!
Vologda teams won medals in mini-basketball championship.
The competition was held among children of 2010 and younger. They were attended by athletes from Vologda, Cherepovets, Gryazovets, Sheksna and, for the first time in the history of the tournament, from Vytegra.
“Teams were mixed by gender: girls played the first half, boys played the second half, the third half could be any, that is, even girls, even boys, even mixed. Interestingly, up to 17 players were allowed (usually 12 people). This is due to the fact that the age of children is still small, so that all young players can try their hand, ”explains Marina Frolova, director of the Vologda basketball school.
The gold of the championship was won by the guys from the Vologda-1 team, silver - Vologda-2, bronze - the team of Gryazovets.
“The final match between Vologda residents became a real decoration of the competition. “Vologda-1” won by 1 point, in the last minute the player of “Vologda-2” missed from under the basket, and both the outcome of the match and the fate of the first place were decided so dramatically,” says Marina Frolova. At the end of each match, the best players of the opposing teams were awarded, and all participants of the championship received T-shirts as a gift.
According to "Vologda.RF"
And again "IES Basket"!
Boys from Vologda and girls from Sheksna won the regional stage of the school basketball league "IES-BASKET".
Pupils of schools, lyceums and gymnasiums all over Russia take part in these competitions. Traditionally, the tournament starts with the regional stage, followed by the district and final. This year there are innovations in the organization of the tournament.
“This year teams of districts play, not individual educational institutions, as it was before. Their composition is determined at the general meeting of the physical education teacher. For example, if 8 schools participated in IES-BASKET last year, but representatives of at least 4 schools must be included in the district team,” says Anastasia Kutuzova, regional manager at the IES-BASKET school.
In the finals of the regional stage among the girls, the Vologda women staunchly fought for the victory. In the first half of the match, the team from Vologda managed to stay on equal terms. The second half was divided into two segments: after failing 18 minutes, Vologda managed to return to the game in the remaining time, but two minutes were not enough to win. The result of the meeting is 59:67, Sheksna won. The third place went to the girls from the Veliky Ustyug region.
The junior final is already becoming a championship tradition in the region. It met two irreconcilable rivals - Vologda and Gryazovetsky district. The guys fought on equal terms throughout the game, and even 23 seconds before the end of the meeting it was impossible to say who would be the winner. The result of the meeting - 89:82. Gold went to basketball players from Vologda. Third place - Industrial district of Cherepovets.
In the Vologda Oblast, Ekaterina Zyukova (Sheksninsky District) and Artem Fomin (Vologda) became the best players in the regional stage. Further, the winning teams will go to Arkhangelsk, where from April 27 to May 1, the strongest teams of the North-West Federal District will fight for the awards of the IES-BASKET SBL.
According to Vologda.RF
Vologda basketball players won silver in the Vologda Laces tournament
The competition was held among teams of girls born in 2010 from five cities of Russia.
“Our girls lost only two points to Livna in a bitter struggle and became the second. The third place was taken by the first team of Kupchinsky Olympus. Strong athletes, but they also lost to our girls,” said Olga Kuznetsova, chairman of the Vologda City Basketball Federation. Representatives of the sports school "Kupchinsky Olympus" from St. Petersburg (two teams), Petrozavodsk, Karelia, Vologda and the city of Livny, Oryol region competed for awards.
Note about the tournament
The Premier newspaper of March 2 published a note about the results of the tournament for the prizes of the Snow Maiden. We publish the text.
“All the prizes from the Snow Maiden went to the representatives of the Vologda Oblast.
The traditional basketball tournament for boys born in 2010 and younger "Snow Maiden Cup" has ended in Vologda. 6 teams took part in the tournament: two from Cherepovets, from the city of Plavsk (Tula region), Syktyvkar, Yaroslavl and Vologda. “In good years, we had 8-9 participants in these competitions.commands. Now the pandemic is interfering. Nevertheless, the interest in the Snow Maiden Cup is great. I would like this tournament, which was held for the first time 5 years ago, to be included in the calendar plan of the Ministry of Sports, but it is not so easy. We are working in this direction, but we need a lot of support from the RFB and the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Vologda Oblast,” commented Olga Kuznetsova, head of the city Basketball Federation.
Places on the podium were distributed as follows: the top step was taken by the team from Cherepovets (boys born in 2010) MAU SShOR No. 3 (coach - Igor Stepanov), the second - the team from Vologda MBU SShOR in basketball (coach - Elena Volkova), the third - the team of Cherepovets (boys born in 2011) MAU SSHOR No. 3 (coach - Anna Osminkina). The best players in the teams at this tournament were: Vologda - Bogdan Vyakunov, Syktyvkar - Roman Sinchugov, Yaroslavl - Oleg Alekseev, Cherepovets 1 - Maxim Makarov, Cherepovets 2 - Vladimir Khonin, Plavsk - Gleb Ivanin. At the time of preparation of this issue, the Open Interregional Basketball Tournament "PHOENIX CUP" among the teams of boys born in 2010, the semi-final stage, continued. We will report on its results in the next issue. By the way, at a similar competition among girls born in 2007. Vologda women took 7th place. The rivals of our basketball players were teams from Plavsk, Moscow, Kursk, Krasnoyarsk and St. Petersburg.”
Thank you for your attention to Vologda basketball!
People write about us!
We would like to thank the Premier newspaper for publishing this note in the March 9, 2021 issue!
“In Vologda, boys born in 2010 competed for the Phoenix Cup.
The semi-final competition ended on March 2nd. 8 teams from different cities of the country took part in them: school №49 "Trinta-1" and "Trinta-2" (Moscow), SC "Musson" (Sevastopol), school school "Dynamo" (Moscow), BC "Alfa" ( Kursk), Youth Sports School Pavlovsky Posad, Basketball School (Vologda), Spartak School (Lyubertsy).
The teams were divided into two groups where they played in a round robin system. Then the winners of the group stage met in matches according to the “crosses” scheme, i.e. the first places in one group played with the second from the other, the third with the fourth. The best at this stage fought further for the steps of the podium and 4th place, and the rest for 5-6th and 7-8th place.
The Vologda residents failed to get into the top ranks, due to the lack of training during the lockdown period. In the regions, as a rule, basketball players did not have the opportunity to fully engage, while in the capital, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and megacities, they tried to send young basketball players to sports facilities during the lockdown. According to experts' forecasts, as a result, teams from the provinces will lag behind teams that have not stopped training for at least two more years. As expected, the medals "left" to Moscow and the Moscow region. The team "Trinta-1" won, 2nd place - "Spartak" (Lyubertsy), 3rd place - "Dynamo" Moscow.
However, the confrontation was unusually fierce. “For the first time I see something like this at the Phoenix Cup,” admits Olga Kuznetsova, chief judge of the competition. - The gap in the final matches was minimal between the teams. So the Vologda residents defeated the team of Kursk in the match for the 7th place with a score of 25:23, "Monsoon" and "Trinta-2" played for the 5th place with a score of 42-40, "Dynamo" and Pavlovsky Posad for the 4th place - 44-40, and for the 1st "Trinta-1" and "Spartak" with a score of 41-49. This is, of course, a rarity."
Roman Batalov was recognized as the best player of the Vologda team. The symbolic top five basketball players of the entire tournament included: Daniel Rakhuba (Monsoon), Kirill Vikhrev (Pavlovsky Posad), Alexei Andrianov (Dynamo), Eric Chernik (Spartak), Gabriel Mozhekva (Trinta-1). Yaroslav Volkov from Vologda became the winner of the throws competition with a result of 11 hits in 1 minute, and Luka Shagulashvili (Trinta-1) became the winner in the "American" competition.
At the moment of preparing this material, the semi-final (2nd round) of the All-Russian basketball competition among girls' teams born in 2008 has started. The tournament will be held at the Mytishchi Basketball School. The Vologda Oblast is represented by students of the MBU "SSHOR in Basketball" under the guidance of coach Arina Pozhilova. Our girls lost the first game to the team from Moscow School №56. We will announce the results of the competition in the next issue.

Vologda youths won bronze at the Interregional competitions.
The tournament was held in Vologda and was the zonal stage of the Russian championship.
Boys born in 2008 fought for the awards and the right to reach the semifinals. from the city of Velikiye Luki, Pskov Region, the city of Vsevolozhsk, Leningrad Region, and Cherepovets. Vologda was represented by pupils of the Vologda basketball school under the guidance of coach Svetlana Ivanova. “The tournament turned out to be really interesting and useful for us. Three teams arrived. On the first day we played Velikiye Luki and played very well. They won more than 30 points, and very confidently. All the guys showed themselves well, ”comments Svetlana Gennadievna. On the second day, the Vologda residents met with their old "friends-rivals" - peers from Cherepovets.
“We meet these guys regularly, as the cities are close, and, curiously, during all this time we share two points with them. We win them, we lose them. Of course, this meeting was of fundamental importance for us. But the Cherepovets team had the opportunity to strengthen its line-up, it included players from two teams, two coaches, and, unfortunately, we approached these competitions in a weakened state,” Svetlana Ivanova states.
The fact is that the main player - center Yaroslav Myalkin - recently recovered from a serious injury received at the previous tournament. “Just a week before the Inter-Regionals, he had his cast removed from a compound fracture with a dislocation. And two players from the main team could not leave, as the contacts due to covid are sitting at home due to the illness of their parents. The game was tense, we didn’t lose it so easily, but we lost,” says Svetlana Gennadievna.
At the circular stage, the last meeting of the Vologda residents was with the team of Vsevolozhsk. It was she who decided which place our sports shifts would fight for in the future - the second or third.
“Unfortunately, we could not cope with this team, we lost seven points to them, the reason for the defeat was the banal number of misses. A very low percentage of hits from under the ring - they themselves are to blame, ”says Svetlana Ivanova.
The second part of the tournament consisted of play-offs, and again the Vologda team met with Vsevolozhsk.
“The game was full of drama, we changed tactics, changed the pattern of the game, but still couldn't win - we lost two points. They missed a lot, if they had scored more, they would have mastered it, ”says the coach. The repeated game with Velikie Luki did not surprise: again a victory. As a result: 1st place - Cherepovets, 2nd place - Vsevolozhsk, 3rd place - Vologda, 4th place - Velikiye Luki.
“We are third, and this means that we have no right to continue playing in the Russian championship. However, in the context of the coronavirus, teams are constantly removed from participation and game mandates are released. Perhaps it will still be possible to continue the performance, ”explains Svetlana Gennadievna.
It is worth noting that the Vologda basketball players showed very high personal results. Thus, according to game statistics, Yaroslav Myalkin scored 56 points, he is second after Maksim Belyakov from Cherepovka, who has 57 points.
“A wonderful result, considering that quite recently Yaroslav was still wearing a cast,” Svetlana Ivanova notes. Kirill Blinov, Yaroslav Myalkin and Kirill Chechnev took 2nd, 3rd, 4th places in double-doubles - this is when an average of 10 points is scored per game and 10 rebounds are taken. In rebounds alone, Kirill Chechnev is the unsurpassed leader: he is 22 points ahead of his closest rivals, and in rebounds Kirill Blinov is second.
MARINA FROLOV, DIRECTOR OF THE BASKETBALL SCHOOL IN VOLOGDA
— Boys born in 2008 for the first time they participate in the championship of Russia, and for the debut they performed very well, although we still hoped for 2nd place. Nevertheless, the competition showed that this is a very promising team, in the future we hope for them. I would like to thank the parents of the athletes for supporting the guys from the stands. Despite the fact that the games were played on working days during working hours, they still found an opportunity to come, and the intensity of emotions just went through the roof!

Women from Vologda took fifth place in the "Phoenix Cup" among the strongest teams of their age.
In Vologda, the group stages of the interregional competition "Phoenix Cup" among girls born in 2009 and 2007 took place. Due to the coronavirus, it so happens that not all regions can take part in this tournament, however, Moscow and St. Petersburg do not have travel bans. Accordingly, the strongest teams of Russia gathered in Vologda already at the group stage.
It was not easy for our girls to cope with such prepared rivals, and even fifth places in these circumstances are a worthy result. “We are happy that we have the opportunity to get gaming experience with the leaders. Of course, we were affected by the pandemic, when our basketball players did not have the opportunity to train normally, and training continued in large cities. Yes, such a year, it turned out the way it happened, and in the standings Moscow, Moscow region and St. Petersburg. But we don't worry about it at all. But our athletes will have a good hardening, it is very useful and valuable,” says Olga Kuznetsova, chairman of the Basketball Federation of Vologda.
So, in the competition among girls born in 2009 participated: SBK "Gloria" (Moscow), SShOR of the Nevsky district (St. Petersburg), SShOR in basketball (Mytishchi), SShOR No. 49 "Trinta" (Moscow), SShOR of the Kirovsky district (St. Petersburg), that is, the leading basketball centers RF. Vologda was represented by pupils of coach Karina Vasyuchenko.
“It was the first time for these girls to participate in competitions of this level. Not so long ago, by sports standards, their coach changed, which could not but affect the preparation. Nevertheless, the girls did their best, they are "charged" for basketball, they want to play and show everything they are capable of. We will expect success from them in the future, but in general, well done, they did not give up in front of strong rivals,” Olga Kuznetsova, chairman of the Basketball Federation of Vologda, sums up. The 1st place was taken by the school of the Nevsky district, the 2nd place - "Trinta", the 3rd place - Mytishchi. It is worth noting that Veronika Bykova from Vologda entered the symbolic top five players. She became the best power forward.
When determining the best players in each of the participating teams among the Vologda women, this title was awarded to Alina Popova. In the group stage among girls born in 2007 teams again participated mainly from the capitals and the Moscow region: Children's youth sports club "Runa-basket" (Moscow), school school "Kupchinsky Olympus" (St. Petersburg), school school "Kalininskaya" (St. Petersburg), SBK "Gloria" (Moscow), BC "Wave - House of Moscow" (Balakhna), as well as the team of the Sports School "Sobinka" (Vladimir Region). Vologda was represented by pupils of the SShOR in basketball under the guidance of coach Ulyana Shulepova. The gold medal of the tournament was received by St. Petersburg women from the Kupchinsky Olympus, the silver medal was given to their fellow countrymen from the Kalininskaya school, the bronze from the Sobinka Youth Sports School. Our athletes took fifth place.
Ksenia Krasavina from Vologda became the winner of the three-point shot competition. She scored the same number of hits in the main competition with her rival from St. Petersburg (9 hits in 1 minute). Ksenia managed to win in the second attempt, after the last game of the tournament. Arina Shekhurina from Vologda entered the symbolic top five of the best players of the Phoenix Cup. She was named the best attacking defender.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
100TH DONATION of sports instructor and "Honorary Donor" MIKHAIL VLADIMIROVICH STAROSTIN!!!!!!!
Mikhail Vladimirovich Starostin. This name is known to everyone at the blood transfusion station - after all, his whole life is inextricably linked with donation. In practice, it often happens like this: the donor received the title of "Honorary" - and this is where his donor biography ends. But, apparently, a sporting character has a completely different property, and its main feature is purposefulness and perseverance. This is evidenced by the result: in December, Mikhail Vladimirovich made the 100th donation! Just imagine in what vitality you need to keep yourself in order to confirm all the necessary “parameters” for health over and over again, because only a healthy person can be a donor.
Unfortunately, in the modern world there has not yet been created a universal medicine that can replace human blood, which is why it is so important to participate in regular donation of reliable and verified donors.
By personal example, active position, useful and in-demand advice, Mikhail Vladimirovich promotes the idea of responsible donation not only in his circle, but also in the Public Council for promoting the donor movement and respecting the rights of donors, which operates at the blood transfusion station.
Donation has always been called a noble cause. Participation in the donor movement is the lot of people who love life, inspire optimism in other people, help restore their health, and sometimes save lives. Such a person lives and works next to us - Mikhail Vladimirovich Starostin! And we say "THANK YOU" to him!

Vologda residents took 2nd place at the interregional tournament in memory of Margarita Mukhanova
Young men from Petrozavodsk, Yaroslavl, St. Petersburg competed for awards. Vologda was represented by pupils of coach Svetlana Ivanova.
Note that usually both boys and girls take part in this competition, but this year, due to the pandemic, only boys' teams were able to come to Vologda 2008-2009r
“Margarita Alekseevna did a lot for the development of basketball in Vologda. The competition opened on the eve of Coach's Day, which is celebrated on October 30. It turned out very symbolically that we honored the memory of one of the first coaches of our sports school on the eve of this holiday. Margarita Alekseevna was a very talented teacher, but, unfortunately, she passed away early. Every year, according to tradition, the daughter of Margarita Alekseevna, Anna, comes to the tournament from St. Petersburg. She is a graduate of our school, an excellent athlete and an excellent doctor. This year, she gave parting words to young basketball players and, as usual, brought basketball prizes for the best players of each team.0741, - says Marina Frolova, director of the Vologda basketball school.
The third place was taken by a team from Petrozavodsk. Danil Skryabin was recognized as the best player in it. Sergei Starkin became the best player in St. Petersburg. The second place was taken by the team from Vologda, the best player was Kirill Chechnev. Gold went to the team from Yaroslavl, and Nikita Zykin was recognized as the best player.
According to Vologda.RF
We are in the semifinals!
Vologda basketball players reached the semi-finals of the Russian Championship
Inter-regional basketball competition among girls' teams born in 2007 took place in our city. and younger. In fact, this is the first stage of the Russian championship, followed by the first and second rounds of the semi-finals and the final. Magnitogorsk, Nizhny Tagil, Chelyabinsk competed for awards. Vologda was represented by pupils of the SShOR in basketball. It was originally planned that 9 teams would take part in the competition, but the pandemic prevented these plans from being realized. Only four teams remain as athletes are banned from travel in some regions and cases of asymptomatic COVID-19 have been found in two potential opponents.
Nevertheless, the competition took place and the matches were very interesting and tense. Women from Vologda were preparing for the tournament under the guidance of coaches Ulyana Shulepova and Arina Pozhilova. Our girls took 2nd place, losing to Magnitogorsk. “The Magnitogorsk team is objectively stronger and more experienced. There are no complaints about our girls, they played to the best of their ability and training, they adequately showed themselves and their strong-willed qualities, ”comments Marina Frolova, director of the SShOR in basketball.
According to the results of the competition, the team that takes 1st place immediately goes to the 1st round of the championship semi-finals. Girls who received a silver medal will first play in the 2nd round. It is known that the semi-final matches will be held in January, but the venue has not yet been determined.

"Silver Duet"
The newspaper "Premier" published an article about the achievements of the MBU "ShOR Basketball". In No. 32 (1185) dated August 18, 2020, the article "Silver Duet" was published. We publish its text:
“Two students of the Vologda basketball won silver medals in the Russian championship. Arina Pozhilova and Alexandra Chuprova took second place in the Russian Basketball 3x3 Championship in the 2019/2020 season. POWERFUL!
The final of the competition was held in Moscow as part of the Basketball XXL project. The girls were part of the Energia team from Ivanovo. In addition to them, Ekaterina Kuznetsova and Maria Martynova became silver medalists.
The Ivanovo team went to the final very purposefully and stubbornly. Thus, Energia left its group from the first place, having beaten the reigning MBA champions with a score of 14:10. Interestingly, at the same time they managed to defeat the future champions of Russia, the Tulpar team from Kazan with a score of 14:13. The struggle between these teams was already very fierce. Then, in the semi-finals, Energia won against the TsOP-1 team (15:12), and Tulpar won against the Moskva team. (Composition of "Tulpar": Olesya Nikolenko, Maria Popova, Irina Chekunova).
It is curious how Kazan girls did it. “Losing two points towards the end, we were able to level the score 11 seconds before the end of normal time - this was done by Chekunova. She also put her team ahead in overtime in the aisle. And the result was summed up by Nikolenko: after an inaccurate first free kick, she took Tulpar to the final on the second attempt - 15:13, ”the Russian Basketball Federation describes the course of the game.
NERVOUS IN THE FINAL
That's how the girls from Ivanovo faced Tulpar again in the final. It is worth noting that the path to success for the representatives of Kazan was more difficult and thorny. “In the regular season, the future champions did not win a single stage, losing three times in the final games. Moreover, before the final, Tulpar won in less than half of the matches - in 9out of 21,” reports the Russian Basketball Federation. The final game itself ruffled the nerves of the fans. The teams were actually on a par with each other. Two and a half minutes before the final siren, Tulpar was losing - 9:10, but then ended the game with a swift and strong jerk 6:0 (in the end - 15:10). A long-range hit by Irina Chekunova (Kazan) was fatal for Energia, bringing the future champions of Russia +3 points. It stopped the victorious procession of the Ivanovo basketball players. That is, basketball players from Kazan carried out about the same “manoeuvre” here as in the game with the Moskva team: a quick break at the very end of the match.
“I didn't have enough strength. Well, our opponents are still a little more experienced than us, ”says Alexandra Chuprova, who was named the best defender of the last tournament.
It remains to add that the bronze medal of the championship went to the Moskva team, which literally defeated TsOP-1, finishing the game with a score of 21:8.
START FROM VOLOGDA
Alexandra Chuprova and Arina Pozhilova's silver medal is an inspiring example for those guys from the Vologda region who are now taking their first steps in basketball. Both girls are pupils of sports schools in our region. So, Arina Pozhilova is a graduate of the Vologda basketball school.
“In Vologda, I probably got everything that an athlete needs: physical fitness and character,” says Arina Pozhilova. Her coaches were Anastasia Rumyantseva and Olga Ovchinnikova.
Arina started playing basketball when she was a 2nd grade student. “I studied at school No. 16, and the physical education teacher simply suggested that I go to the school section, from there they called me to the school,” the athlete recalls.
Arina Pozhilova played with Energia for two years, but now she left the team to become a teacher in Vologda, in her native school. “I would like to grow into a worthy coach who will not only train basketball players, but educate the guys so that they become good, decent people, mature personalities,” says Arina.
VELIKY Ustyug IS PROUD
The best defender of the Russian Championship Alexandra Chuprova started playing basketball in Veliky Ustyug with coach Natalia Maistrenko, who has long amazed Vologda residents with her pedagogical talent. Recall that it was under the leadership of Natalia Igorevna that the girls from the largest city in Russia managed to take 2nd place in the Superfinal of the IES-Basket SBL. The team of girls from Veliky Ustyug "Bees" won silver in the 2015/2016 season. In Ekaterinburg. IES Basket is a unique project that started first in the Perm Territory and then covered the whole of Russia. This competition is designed for ordinary students.
This is how Alexandra Chuprova began her sports career in an ordinary school team. “I started playing basketball at the age of 9. We saw an ad in our regional newspaper about recruitment to the section. At first I played there, then they invited me to a sports school, - says Alexandra. - Natalya Igorevna Maistrenko is a very principled and strict coach, but at the same time she is very kind. Like a second mother. Of course, she watches matches with my participation. After the end of the Russian Championship, she immediately called me to congratulate me on the silver medal. ”
According to Alexandra, she plans to continue her career at Energia, in the near future the team will play the Russian championship in Superleague-1. By the way, the basketball player believes that the period of the pandemic and closed gyms did not affect the team's result in the recently completed all-Russian 3x3 competition.
“It’s still a slightly different training, you can practice on the street, because initially this type was designed for outdoor conditions,” she explains.

"Again in the Ring"
The newspaper "Premier" published an article about the achievements of the students of the MBU "School Basketball School". In No. 38 (1191) dated September 29, 2020, the article "Back in the Ring" was published. We publish the text:
“Competitions of young basketball players have resumed in the region and the country. Representatives of the Vologda MBU "SSHOR in Basketball" took part in the finals of the Russian Championship among girls born in 2005. and became seventh. The team was coached by Svetlana Velikanova.
“Our athletes competed in their strength. I would like the result to be better, but the lack of training in Vologda had an effect, while our rivals from Moscow teams had the opportunity to continue training in sports camps, ”explained Marina Frolova, director of the MBU Basketball SShOR. Girls born in 2006 they also improved their result in the Russian championship: if last year they did not reach the final, then this year they were among the top ten teams in the country. The coach Sergei Frolov prepared the athletes. Again, there was not enough "physics": we can say that our girls got in shape right during the matches.
Championship matches of the Vologda region took place at different ages. Among the teams of girls born in 2003 the Vityaz sports school won (coach Vladimir Krashenin), among the boys the Cherepovites from the Youth Sports School No. 3 won, and the Vologda residents came second (coach Svetlana Ivanova). In the age category born in 2008 and younger champions of the region became pupils of the MBU "SSHOR in basketball" (coach - Arina Pozhilova). Among the boys of the same age, the Cherepovites won (DYuSSh No. 3), the Vologda residents again won silver (coach - Svetlana Ivanova).
Despite the resumption of tournaments, the access of fans and parents to sporting events is still limited. On the days of the competition, the presence of spectators is allowed in the MBU "School Basketball School", but not more than 25% of the number of spectator seats. The school, according to certification, has 90 seats in the stands, which means that 23 spectators can be received. Before attending matches, visitors are asked not to forget to treat their hands with an antiseptic, they also measure their body temperature with a non-contact thermometer and are given a badge with a number to track the occupancy of the hall (23 badges).”

IES-basket news
The regional final of the IES-BASKET all-Russian school basketball league was held in Vologda at the Spektr sports complex. On February 3, several games were held here, the outcome of which was determined by the main question: which Vologda teams will go to the finals of the Northwestern Federal District, which will be held in Pskov in March.
Among the girls' teams, four school basketball clubs entered the final fight of the regional stage: "FOX" (Kichm-Gorodok), "Dinosaurs" (school No. 41 Vologda), "Ataka" (Cherepovets) and the club of the same name from Sheksna. According to the results of the basketball battles, the last club won, the young basketball players from Cherepovets took the silver medal, the Dinosaurs from Vologda took the third place.
The result of matches among men's teams was unpredictable. In the final game, the school club Korona from Gryazovets and the Hawks from school No. 41 in Vologda met. From the first minute the match went under the dictation of the Gryazovites. The first ten-minute period ended with a score of 17:15, the second - 34:27 in favor of Korona. However, in the third quarter the situation changed dramatically. Gathering their strength and having a conversation with the coach, the young basketball players from Vologda began to better defend their hoop and score more goals. The result of the third ten-minute period is 56:42.
There were tense moments in the last quarter of the match. Since basketball is one of the most contact sports, opponents often collided and tried to take the ball away. In the last three seconds, the judges even had to stop the game and remove some basketball players from both teams. However, this did not affect the outcome - the match ended with a score of 67:50 in favor of the team from Vologda. And Artem Fomin from Vologda became the best player for the entire match.
“I play point guard. Today our team didn't start the match very well, but in the third quarter we finally pulled ourselves together, started to play normally on defense and won. I think that the great merit here is the coach, as he supported us,” says the player of the school basketball club “Yastreby” (school No. 41 of Vologda) Artem Fomin.
The rivals of the Vologda residents, of course, were upset. However, such a result is still a great achievement for the Gryazovets team Korona. “We are participating in IES-BASKET for the fourth year in a row, but have never reached the final. Today we had a strong opponent, but we could beat him. I think that our team needs to work better to protect the ring and improve the quality of the shots,” says Khngianos Antonyan, player of the Korona school basketball club.
Yesterday at the big sports festival there were guests of honor - a Soviet basketball player, Olympic champion 1992 years old Svetlana Antipova, director of the basketball club "Chevakata" Valentina Cherepanova, as well as representatives of the sports community of the region and the city.
The Vologda Oblast is a traditional participant in the large sports federal project IES-BASKET. From year to year, our guys show good results. In general, much attention is paid to basketball in the city of Vologda. Many Vologda residents know and love our native Chevakata team. In addition, the Basketball Sports School operates in the regional capital, which is a forge of young basketball talents,” commented Dmitry Zhiobakas, head of the Department of Physical Culture and Mass Sports of the Vologda Administration.
In addition, veterans of the Great Patriotic War became guests of the final matches, because this year the school basketball league "IES-BASKET" is held under the sign of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. During the matches, they cheered for the teams together with everyone, and at the end they awarded the athletes.
IES-BASKET competitions have been held throughout Russia for the 13th year. For the first time matches of the school basketball league started in 2007 in the Perm region. Every year the number of regions and participants grows. So, this season, schoolchildren from 69regions of Russia. “The main goal of the championship is the maximum involvement of schoolchildren in basketball. This year, about 1.5 million involved participants joined the project, of course, not all, but about 300,000 people pass intra-school selections. However, it is still gratifying that the project is developing and gaining popularity. The uniqueness of IES-BASKET is that amateur schoolchildren take part in it, professionals do not play in our league. The championship takes into account the interests of schools and supports them. So, this year we gave every team from the Vologda Oblast a basketball uniform. Schools also often receive balls,” commented Mikhail Permyakov, Director for Regional Development of the IES-BASKET School Basketball League Championship.
Recall that IES-BASKET started in each of the regions in September with intra-school stages. In October and November, competitions were held in municipal districts. Zonal competitions took place in December and January.
According to the results of yesterday's matches, the team "Yastreby" (School No. 41 Vologda) and the women's basketball club "Sheksna" got a ticket to the finals of the Northwestern Federal District. The guys will go to Pskov in March this year.
