How to cheat on basketball stars

Basketball Stars Tips, Cheats and Strategies

  • Walkthroughs, Tips, and Cheats

Basketball Stars is a game that will change everything you know about basketball. Actually, that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but Miniclip’s simple but fun hoops game will cut out most of what’s extraneous about hoops and let you concentrate on things you could do easily in real life with just a ball, a hoop and maybe a friend.

Whether playing a shooting competition or a game of one-on-one where you have to learn to play some defense too, the skills you’ll need are pretty basic. Yet within a narrow framework, there are some important things to master before you can take on the world.

Some of them are best learned the same way you’d improve in real basketball, by simply doing them repeatedly until you get better. But we can also give you a hand by pointing out where to start. Follow along with our Basketball Stars Tips, Cheats and Strategies and you’ll be that much closer to winning any (virtual) playground challenge you throw down.

If you don’t learn how to shoot a basketball, you aren’t going to be very good at Basketball Stars. That’s just the way it goes. Fortunately, while muscle memory is involved, just like it is in real life, a lot less actual muscle is needed to get the ball in the hoop.

In either game mode, the key to shooting is swiping straight and the correct distance for how far away you are from the basket. You’ll be able to tell by the in-game graphics, but mostly from the meter that sits on the left-hand side of the screen. A line on that meter will tell you approximately how far you’ll have to swipe; too little will leave the shot short, while too hard will clatter it off the back of the rim or the backboard.

Shooting Race, the first game mode you’ll encounter, will see shots grow gradually longer as the time ticks down, so the key is to watch carefully for when the meter changes and be ready to swipe a little further. The speed of your swipe doesn’t matter, but you still want to get proficient at shooting quickly so you can launch the next shot as soon as possible. And if you get a swipe exactly right, you’ll get bonus points, so getting it right to to the line is something you’ll want to master.

Shooting Race would be frantic enough if it was just you and your opponent slinging basketballs as quickly as possible, but the addition of some bonuses allows you to get a leg up on your foe — or vice versa, of course — even if you aren’t quite as fast on the release. Here’s what to watch for as you shoot:

  • Lucky ball – Seemingly random, the Lucky Ball makes your very next shot worth extra points. You’ll recognize it by its colorful blue glow.
  • Backboard bonus – The backboard bonus gives you additional points for banking in shots. That’s harder than it sounds at times, especially when you aren’t directly facing the basket, because hitting the backboard at an angle causes the ball to behave the same way it would in real life. One tip here is to shoot just a tad harder than normal, because sometimes just catching the back of the rim and a tiny bit of the backboard will be enough to get the bonus points without drastically altering your shot.
  • On fire – Come on, everyone knows this! Once you’ve hit several consecutive shots, you’ll see the ball ignite, and every shot you hit will be worth an additional point. Unlike the heyday of NBA Jam, being on fire doesn’t increase the chance of your shot going in, but simply makes each shot more valuable. Missing will extinguish the flame.

Have shooting down pat? Excellent! You’ll need some additional tricks to become proficient in Attacker-Defender, which is what Basketball Stars calls one-on-one. In this mode, you’ll still have to be able to shoot, but with the complication of a live opponent playing defense. Take too long to shoot and you’ll have the ball stolen from you; launch a shot too obviously and the defender will jump and block it.

On offense, you can free yourself to shoot by moving — at least a little. Swiping in either direction will move you one step to the left or right and possibly give you a clean look. You can also tap to fake in that direction, which might draw the defender that way and let you stay in the center to shoot. The idea is to take a shot as soon as the defender is in another lane, because he won’t be able to block your shot. But you’ll also want to be in near constant motion until you are ready to shoot to avoid the possibility of a steal.

Conversely, the key to ‘D’ is not going for too many fakes. You won’t quite be quick enough to jump to block a shot going up after getting faked out, so it’s part reflexes, part guessing game. If you think your opponent is shooting, be ready to swipe up for a block, because you’ll always get the ball if you are right and your timing is good.

The final thing to remember is that Attacker-Defender is “make it, take it,” meaning whoever scores remains on offense. Games are to 10 points to start but the score needed to win increases as you advance to higher levels of competition.

Every game played in either mode of Basketball Stars requires you to stake half of the cash won. It’s like you were betting on a game of one-on-one at the playground, except with fake money and no chance of getting mugged or hustled.

Alas, this means that if and when you hit a losing streak, you can run out of cash pretty quickly. How do you get more? There are a couple of ways:

  • Once a day, you’ll be able to spin a wheel that can earn you a number of prizes but delivers cash more often than not.
  • Every hour, small amounts of cash are available just by logging in and hitting the “Free Cash” button in the upper-right corner of the main menu screen.
  • You can buy cash for real money by tapping on the cash icon. This isn’t necessarily advised because of the two aforementioned options, but it does allow you to refill for large amounts quickly.

Be aware that the amount of cash you’ll need to put up just to play goes up as you unlock the higher level courts in either mode, but so does the amount you win.

Most of the ways you can customize your player in Basketball Stars are cosmetic, but don’t sleep on getting a new basketball. Tapping on the “Balls” icon within the customization screen will show you a variety of both standard and premium basketballs that you can either buy with cash or gold or win in an equipment bag.

Certain balls will either increase accuracy, allowing more forgiveness when you don’t gauge your swipe exactly right, or time, meaning you’ll be able to shoot your next shot faster. If you can acquire a ball that has bonuses in both areas, it’ll make your hoops life that much easier.

Basketball Stars: Tips, Hints And Tricks To Beat Opponents

Basketball Stars is an excellent multiplayer game that lets you play fast-paced match against a random same-level opponent. There are 2 game modes: Attacker-Defender and Shooting Race. The latter is easy to play and you can easily earn some quick bucks at the Underdog Court. Attacker-Defender is harder and winning depends on how skillful you are in defending or shooting the ball.

Each court has an entry fee and a time limit. The player whose score is higher than his opponent is declared the winner and he gets the winning amount. Advanced courts offer lots of prize money, but players will have to pay more to enter them. With these quick tips, hints and tricks you might find it easy to beat opponents and earn more prizes:

Table of Contents

1. Change your Swipe Tactics According to Perfect Power Level

Examine the gauge to the left side of the screen. It has a Perfect Power (PP) level that often changes position and you will have to perform long or short swipes according to its position. The PP level position determines the distance between the player and the hoop.

The Perfect Power (PP) level tells the player whether the ball will reach and go through the hoop. You will have to swipe straight up to the hoop to ensure that the gauge fills up close to the Perfect Power level. If it goes above the PP level, then your player will shoot pretty fast, which may make the ball miss the hoop. If the gauge falls short of the PP level, then it won’t reach it. You should swipe straight up to make sure that the gauge fills up very close to the PP level, almost touching it. You will still score if the gauge roughly fills 80-85 percent close to the PP level or goes 10 percent above the PP level.

Many times, the PP level’s position changes. Sometimes it will be positioned lower and sometimes it will be placed higher. When it’s placed higher up on the gauge, the distance between the player and the hoop increases. In such a situation, long swipes will put the ball to the hoop. Place your finger on the bottom-most part of the screen and drag up until the gauge fills up close to the PP level. Doing this, the ball will reach and go through the basket.

When the PP level is placed lower down the meter, your player will stand pretty close to the hoop. Here, short swipes will do the trick. Press the drag up quick to make the ball go through the net.

2. How to Get Perfect Shots

A normal shot gets you 2 points, whereas a perfect shot fetches 3 points. Perfect shots fill the “On Fire” meter faster. Once your player is on fire, you will get bonus points every time the flaming ball goes through the hoop. Once activated, the fire meter will keep decreasing, so shoot quickly before it reaches zero.

Swipe up straight so that the meter touches the PP level to score a perfect shot. You still earn a perfect shot if the meter gets close to the PP level and is only 10-15 percent short of reaching it. The screenshots below shows levels the best ways to get perfect shots (check the gauge to your left in every screenshot):

Perfect Shot 1:

Perfect Shot 2:

3. Practice Before Playing Multiplayer Matches

Before you start playing one-on-one multiplayer matches against players around the world, why don’t you practice shooting baskets? There’s a nice practice mode that will give you a clear idea of how the game works. Once you start practicing shooting, you will realize when to perform long or short swipes and how to get that perfect backboard bonus.

Once you have finished practicing, start playing the “shooting race” mode at the Underdog’s Court and once you are confident, you can begin playing advanced courts. Do remember that each new court requires more entry fee than the other, so make sure you earn more bucks at the first court and then play advanced courts.

4. How to Get a Backboard Bonus

You get 4 points of the ball first hits the backboard and then go through the hoop. Getting a backboard shot isn’t easy, but once you know at what level the gauge should fill, you will easily score one.

The above screenshot shows how a player can easily earn backboard bonus points. The gauge on the left side of the screenshot will give you an idea when to stop when swiping up to get a backboard bonus:

5. Attacker and Defender Mode: Tips and Hints to Win Matches

Basketball Stars’ Attacker-Defender mode is hard to win if you don’t know when to perform the right moves. You should know when to steal the ball, perform a fake-side-step and try every trick in the book to avoid your opponent from scoring:

  • When playing defender in “Attacker Defender” mode, your first move should be to steal the ball from your opponent. But let me tell you that your opponent will know this trick and his first move will be side-stepping. He will side-step in the opposite direction just to confuse you. Swipe in that direction and try to swipe up to block his shot.
  • Try to confuse your opponent by swiping straight up more than once to block his ball or moving along with him. This will make him difficult to shoot baskets and chances of the ball going through the hoop will be lower.
  • When playing attacker, the defender will try to steal your ball. Try side-stepping or fake a side-step by double-tapping on the right or left side of the screen. This will confuse your opponent. Quickly swipe up to fill the meter close to the PP level to shoot.
  • In this game mode, having a stable, fast Internet connection is crucial to win a match. With a slow Internet connection, your player will be slower in stealing the ball or jumping up. Poor Wi-Fi connectivity can prevent you from enjoying a good, competitive game against your opponent.

A fierce battle for the title of the best basketball player on the street begins between the two players and continues until they realize that in pairs you can earn much more money than alone.

Sixth player, 1997

Kenny Tyler and his older brother Anthony are the stars of the high school basketball team. Anthony's unexpected death leaves him virtually no chance of success. But suddenly everything changes. The former underdog wins victory after victory. It's as if someone invisible is helping future champions...
