How to Keep a Basketball Score Sheeet

How to Keep a Basketball Score Sheet

Keeping track of the score in basketball games is something that every person involved in the sport does, even if you are just an avid fan watching the match.

But basketball also includes detailed statistical categories other than the points a team compile when they successfully put the ball into the hoop. If you are tasked to be a scorekeeper, you also have to tally rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, turnovers and other important numbers essential in the rules of basketball.

This is not just one of those easy drills as the stats has to be accurate and should not include any discrepancy. If you are new to filling out a basketball stat sheet or you just want to refresh your knowledge of it, then read on as we go through the basics of basketball statistics.

Writing down the players' names and numbers

The first category to fill out consists of the names of the players and their jersey numbers, as well as the names of the coaches. You write down their names on the longest boxes you can see on the stat sheet, then place their numbers on their corresponding small boxes. The boxes for the coaches' names are usually located at the top, right beside the names of the teams. You have to be accurate in writing down their numbers because the referees will do a hand signal of a player's number when he commits a foul.

Moreover, the number printed at the back of a player's jersey is usually the largest one you can see on his uniform, making it easier for you to tally his points when he scores. In terms of the sequence of the players' names, you can list them down numerically so that you can find them on the stat sheet more quickly. After that, you should mark with an asterisk the starting line-up of each team or basically the first five players fielded in by the coaches. You can do this first category of the stat sheet by yourself, or you can ask the coaches or the managers to write them down for you.

Marking Change of Possesion on a Basketball Stat Sheet

Another important non-statistical category in basketball stat sheets is marking the change of possessions. This occurs in jump-ball situations, but there is a big difference between amateur and professional leagues. In amateur leagues, teams only jump for the ball at the start of the game and to begin an overtime period.

If there is a situation when there is a tie-up for the ball, the referees will refer to the scorekeeper to see which team will be rewarded with the possession. That is the main reason why you should be careful in marking this category. It is usually located at the top right corner of basketball stat sheets, in which you encircle the squad who won the first possession.

After that, you then just draw a line through each squad so that you would easily know who will be rewarded with the next possession.

Keeping track of team and individual player points

Now, we dive deep on most vital stat: points. It is the primary reason why we have a stat sheet in basketball. Two essential things to consider is that points are separated into two: team points and individual player points. You record team points through the Running Score section. When a player scores, you just put a slash mark in the corresponding box to keep track of teams' total points. As soon as a quarter ends, you will put the teams' total points in the Quarter Score section. After you record each made basket in the Running Score section, you then proceed to the players' points section. When a player makes a two-point basket, you just write "2" in the box. You write "3" when he successfully hits a three-pointer, then "1" for each free throw made. The individual scores are divided by the four quarters, which means that you have to record somebody's stats under the corresponding quarter.

Recording team and individual player fouls and timeouts

Yet, that is not where basketball stat sheets end. The next critical category you have to track is the fouls. Just like in the scoring section, there are team fouls and players' fouls. When a referee calls a foul, immediately record it at the teams' fouls section so that you would know if they hit the penalty situation. As for the individual fouls, you can see the boxes of the personal fouls beside the scoring section for the players. If someone commits a personal foul, put a slash mark on the "P1" box in the section. If he reaches five fouls, you have to inform the referees because it means that he has fouled out of the game and is not allowed to continue playing. You can also see the technical foul boxes in this section. Should someone be called for a technical foul, put a slash mark on the "T1" box. Bear in mind that a technical foul is also counted on the five allowed fouls for each player, and two technical fouls means that he is ejected from the game. Also, be reminded that timeouts are recorded in the stat sheet. This category is located at the Teams are usually allowed seven timeouts in games, and two timeouts for every quarter. Make sure you got this right so that coaches would know if they have already used up their allowed timeouts.

Tallying assists, rebounds, steals, blocks, turnovers and field goal attempts

Then, there are the other individual basketball stats that you have to keep track of if the tournament's committee deems it necessary. Usually, basketball stat sheets just record points and fouls under the individual categories. However, there is also the possibility that you need to mark down a player's assists, rebounds, steals, blocks, turnovers and field goal makes and misses. Today's coaches have been very mindful of these statistics as a helpful tool in figuring out the strengths, weaknesses and tendencies of their hoopers. But the thing is you cannot track all these stats alone so you have to ask help from two or three more people to watch the plays and mark down the stats.

We start with tracking each player's assists. Usually, point guards are the ones who tally the most assists but basketball has become a positionless game so everyone has the chance to dish out assists. When a player passes the ball to his teammate, who then successfully scores, you immediately mark a slash mark on the assists category of that hooper who passed the ball. Another important stat in basketball is the rebounds. Coaches would always say that a team controls games by controlling the rebounds. As the stats tracker, you have to be alert in identifying which player made the rebound, whether it be on offense or defense. Same with the assists, you just have to put a slash mark at the rebounds category and then just add it up for the total number of rebounds after the game. The next stat categories are defensive stats such as steals and blocks. These defensive stats act as excellent barometer for how players exert tremendous effort on defense, something that has been very underrated because most aspiring basketball athletes only want to score. Again, whenever a defensive player steals the ball or disrupts the passing lane and tips the ball to his teammate, put another slash mark on his corresponding steals section. On the other hand, if defensive players successfully blocks a shot from the opposing team, you just have to do the slash mark you did in the assists, rebounds and steals category. Coaches put a lot of emphasis in their squad's defense, so expect them to really dive deep in looking at their players' steals and blocks tally.

Then their are the other stats like field goal attempts and turnovers. Coaches would want to know how efficient their players are shooting the basketball, which is the main reason why you also have to tally how many times a hooper has shot the ball. Shots are divided by three sections: two-point shots, three-pointers and free throws. Also be reminded that you don't just keep track of how often a player shoots the ball. You should also mark how many times he has successfully put the basketball into the hoop. Through this, his coaches will be able to know how well he is shooting the basketball. Lastly, you also have to track players' turnovers as this is another barometer that tells how teams are executing their offensive plays during the games. When a player is handling the basketball then the defender from the opposing team steals it from him, that is automatically a tally in his turnovers count. Offensive fouls are also counted as turnovers so make sure to ask referees what kind of fouls they are calling.

How to Keep a Basketball Scorebook

Basketball scorebooks allow you to keep a complete record of a game. Utilize them to keep statistics for your team, monitor game information for the coaching staff or serve the official scorer. Track field goals, free throws, personal fouls, technical fouls, timeouts and alternating possessions for held balls in these books.

Filling Out The Roster

Start by putting in correct team information. List the players in numerical order, from the smallest number to the largest. Designate the starters by checking the appropriate box, if your scorebook has one. Make sure the information is listed accurately. Teams that give the official scorer an incorrect roster -- or fill out the official scorebook incorrectly -- can be penalized with technical free throws.

Recording Fouls

Be very sure of foul calls before recording them. If you are an official scorer or you're keeping the book on behalf of the coaching staff, ask officials for a clarification if you are not sure. The official NCAA Scorebook features the numbers 1 2 3 4 5 to the left of the player's name and a box under each numbers. Draw a line through the 1 for the first foul, a line through the 2 for the second foul and so forth. Write the time of each foul under the number, if there is space for it. Chronicle team fouls one by one in the designated area, using the number of the player charged to denote the foul. If you are keeping the book on behalf of the coaching staff, your record-keeping will be vital if there is dispute on foul totals at some point in the game.

Recording Technical Fouls

Learn the technical foul rules at your level of competition; in some cases a technical foul also counts as a personal foul. Record technical fouls in a separate area with a notation on the time, the type of technical foul and which individual received it -- unless it was a bench technical on no one person.

Tracking Time Outs

Tracking timeouts is another critical function if you're keeping the scorebook for a team. Keep a count in the space allotted and add the time of the stoppage under the notation if you can. Differentiate between a regular timeout and a 20-second timeout, if there are such things at your level.

Documenting Individual Scoring

For regular field goals, put down a 2 in the player's column for that quarter or half. For 3-point field goals, put down a 3. For a free throw attempt, put down a 0. For a made free throw attempt, put a X inside that 0. For two-shot fouls, connect the 0s with a small "v" underneath them. For one-and-one foul calls, connect the 0s with an inverted "v" on top. If a player misses the front end of the one-and-one, you would put down a 0, attach the inverted "v" on top and leave the second spot blank -- because the player did not get the second shot.

Providing Team Totals

For the team totals, add up the number of regular field goals in each quarter or half and put down that number with (2) next to it in the total box. Add up the 3-point field goals and put (3) next to that number in the total box. In the free throw column, add up the makes and misses and put those numbers in the total box. Then add up the game totals in the total boxes underneath the individual player summaries.

Recording Running Score

Keep a running score if your scorebook has an easy format for that. In the Official NCAA Scorebook, there are numbers 1 through 136 displayed for this purpose. If player makes a basket to give his team 16 points for the game, draw a line through the 16 and put the player's number under that. Record the time of the basket as well, if you want that much detail.

Although the Official NCAA Scorebook doesn't include columns for missed field goals, assists, rebounds, blocked shots and steals, you can keep those statistics too. One simple way to track missed shots is to put down a 1, 2 or 3 for each free throw, field goal and three-point shot taken. Then circle the shots that are made.

“Exit” to marketplaces, create a personal account and upload product cards – this is just the beginning of the work, here a novice entrepreneur will be able to cope on his own, or with the help of technology partners. Further business management requires the solution of accounting issues.

17947 views

The bookkeeping process falls on the shoulders of the seller. But most of the business newcomers have a vague idea of accounting on marketplaces, and it is difficult to hire an accountant at the start.

Let's look at the general points that are important to consider.

What does the process of selling through the marketplace look like in general?

The scheme of the process of selling goods, as well as the nuances of accounting, are determined by the details specified in the contract with the electronic platform. They may change based on the shipping method chosen by the seller and the payment method chosen by the buyer.

However, in general, it looks like this:

  1. The entrepreneur generates waybills for delivery to the warehouse of the electronic platform of goods through the personal account of the seller. Delivery of goods is possible by the marketplace, the seller, as well as third parties.
  2. Upon receipt of the goods, the Marketplace verifies that they comply with the invoice and sends the acceptance certificate to the seller. Based on the acceptance certificate, an accounting entry is made Debit 45 Credit 41 (43) for the amount of the actual cost of goods. Now the product can be sold, and the buyer can find it on the marketplace for purchase.
  3. Customer orders . Payment is transferred to the marketplace account at the time of ordering, and payment is also possible upon receipt at the point of issue or from the courier. In this case, the buyer receives a check (in his personal account or by e-mail).
  4. Further the goods are delivered to the buyer (by the marketplace, seller, mail or logistics company).
  5. The Marketplace withholds in its favor the commission from the amount transferred by the buyer to his account. Remaining the marketplace transfers the amount minus the commission to the account of the seller . Thus the deal is completed.

Please note that payments to the seller's account do not come daily. The marketplace generates them based on the results of the reporting period. For example, for Ozon - 14 days, Wildberries have weekly payments.

Also, at the end of the reporting period, the intermediary must submit to the seller a report on the goods sold, income from the sale and the amount of the commission. Accounting is based on these reports.

Features of accounting when working with marketplaces

Marketplaces, for example, Ozon, Wildberries Lamoda, and Yandex. Market work with suppliers through an agency agreement, which complies with Chapter 52 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation. Such an agency agreement means that the electronic platform acts as an intermediary. For the services of organizing the sale of the seller's goods, advertising, making returns and delivering, he takes a remuneration (commission).

At the stage of acceptance of the offer, it is determined on whose behalf the marketplaces will act, for example, Wildberries works on behalf of the seller, and Ozon makes transactions on its own. But in both cases, the marketplace is only an intermediary. And accounting for sales transactions through marketplaces will differ from accounting for retail sales in that after the delivery of the goods to the warehouse of the intermediary and until the moment the buyer hands them over, the cost of the goods is indicated on account 45 “Goods shipped”.

When working with marketplaces, the marketplace's remuneration for mediation and revenue received from settlements with buyers are reflected in the accounting records.

The following standard transactions for commission trading are used :

  • Dt 45.01 Ct 41.01 - the goods were transferred for sale to the marketplace;
  • Dt 90.02.1 Kt 45.01 - the cost of goods sold was written off;
  • Dt 60.01 Ct 76.09— reflects the withheld commission of the marketplace;
  • Dt 44.01 Kt 60.01 - intermediary services without VAT;
  • Dt 51 Kt 76.09 - the amount for goods from the marketplace was transferred minus remuneration.

Please note that the seller's income is considered to be the entire amount of money transferred by the buyer to the marketplace, excluding the intermediary commission . It is she who is taxed in the case of the STS of 6%, and the marketplace reward is deducted from it with the STS of 15%. Beginning entrepreneurs are often confused and indicate the amount after deducting the marketplace commission received to their account as the tax base. However, this is a gross mistake.

Consider an example of how to start accounting for the sale of goods on marketplaces.

How to start working with marketplaces in 1C: Accounting

Let's set up the work of 1C: Enterprise Accounting 8, edition 3.0 at the initial stage of development of sales through marketplaces. Let's start by defining the type of trade and entering counterparty data.

The line “Sale of goods or services through commission agents (agents)” will be ticked off. You will find the line in the "Functionality" tab, "Settings" section. After such a mark in 1C: Accounting 8, it will be possible to carry out an operation and conduct a workflow that takes into account the sale through a commission agent - a marketplace.

In the "References" section, we will find the "Counterparties" tab, using the "Settlement accounts with counterparties" link, we will register a new counterparty - the trading platform and set up settlement accounts.

To create an agreement of the type “With a commission agent (agent) for sale”, open “Agreements” in the counterparty card. Fill in the type, date, name, warehouse from where the goods will be sold. In the case of a commission prescribed in the contract, we will add this data to the appropriate window for automatic calculation.

Preparatory work completed. Let's move on to the shipment of the supplier's goods to the warehouses of the marketplace-commissioner.

We transfer the seller's goods to the warehouse of the marketplace

Let's create a document "Sales: services, goods, commission" in the "Sales" tab to ship goods to the intermediary's warehouse.

Enter the counterparty, the contract, the delivery warehouse and the date of shipment in the upper part of the document. The cells of the table will contain the goods shipped in this delivery. Please note, paragraph 1 of Art. 996 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, paragraph 1 of Art. 39 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation does not require the preparation of an invoice. This is due to the fact that the seller does not lose ownership of the goods, and the commission agent does not become the owner. This means that the transfer of goods should not be subject to VAT. In this regard, the line "Invoice" remains empty.

Accounting for the sale of goods through marketplaces

In the “Sales” section, we form the document “Commissioner (agent) sales report” based on the report on sold goods received from the marketplace.

In the “Main” tab, we set the contract and the counterparty, check whether the calculation method, the amount of remuneration is entered, whether the procedure for accounting for remuneration expenses is selected, whether the invoice from the intermediary marketplace for a commission is registered.

Transfer the data from the marketplace report on the number of goods sold to the bottom table of the Sales tab. The marketplace is indicated in the "Customer" column. The program will automatically fill in the remaining fields from the entered sold goods itself, although you can also fill in manually.

The marketplace does not issue invoices to individuals, and the seller of goods does not need to do this either. Accordingly, the item "Invoice" - received and issued, is left empty.

If the buyer returned the product and the return was reflected in the marketplace report, then we will use the "Returns" tab. When working with marketplaces, we do not touch the “Additional” and “Cash” tabs.

As you can see, accounting for a seller is not that complicated, the main thing to remember is that the marketplace acts solely as a commission agent (agent).

Who issues checks to customers?

According to letter no. 03-01-15/44636 dated 05/27/2020 of the Ministry of Finance, if the intermediary issues a check, then the supplier of goods does not need to use the cash desk. The name under which the agent acts is not definitive. If the goods are sold under an agency agreement, then the agent issues receipts to buyers, in this case, the marketplace. The marketplace uses its own online checkout. The check contains the details of two parties: both their own and the seller's.

So, the seller should not use the online cash register and punch the second check.

How to simplify accounting for the sale of goods through marketplaces?

With a small number of sold items, the entrepreneur will be able to handle the bookkeeping on the marketplace. However, with the growth of the assortment, it is more and more difficult to be distracted from the current affairs on the marketplace by the intricacies of accounting.

In this case, the solution would be to hire an accountant (which may be financially unprofitable for a beginner) or outsource accounting.

Partner of "SellerMARKET" company and recognized expert in accounting "Moe delo" will help to keep accounting of a small store on the most favorable conditions for the seller. If you do not have your own accounting department or you do not have time to keep track of everything, then take the opportunity to delegate accounting. You will be able to fully develop your brand and improve the quality of the product, and a reliable partner will take care of the accounting.

Notes from Italy. A little about the country, basketball and sclerosis

I am currently on holiday in Italy. I enjoy spending time on the beaches, in restaurants, with my family, daughter, sons - everything is fine. At the same time, I go online five to seven times a day, I watch Ukrainian channels via satellite. There is time and opportunity to analyze the situation in the country and look at Ukraine as if from the outside.

Video of the day

I remember my first visit to Italy. It was 16 years ago, I flew to a seaside town on the Adriatic Sea. You understand what a gulf was between Ukraine and Italy. My Italian partner said: “Believe me, Michele, 10 years will pass and you will not recognize Ukraine. You will be Europe, your average salary will be at least a thousand dollars. Everything will change for you." Since then, a lot has really changed. Here in Italy. In Ukraine, only the scenery has changed, the country has remained the same.

What have we gained in these 16 years? In those days, everyone who had access to power was actively redistributing property, seizing factories. Some paid money for this, some, using connections in high offices, grabbed just like that under the guise of a voucher privatization of the name of Pynzenyk. Now the same people are fighting for the land. Divide the land - take on something else.

Parties and social movements do not have an ideology, their task is to serve the interests of the sponsor. Political forces are becoming more and more like the Soviet-style Communist Party: internal discussions are reduced to a minimum, all decisions are made by one person, strict discipline, and an imperative mandate. What about our communists? Could we then, 16 years ago, think that the Communist Party in parliament would carry out the orders of the oligarchs, and they did not care about the interests of the working class.

But we now have freedom of speech, opponents tell me. This is a separate topic for conversation, and I wrote a lot about it. I will only say that the political censorship of the president, as under Kuchma, of course, no longer exists. There is censorship of owners and censorship of money. Look what happened to Channel 5, where only Poroshenko can determine who to broadcast and who not? All the talented journalists fled, leaving only lackeys, unquestioningly carrying out the orders of the chief. Inter, where there is no freedom of speech, but there is the freedom of Savik Shuster. Three channels of Pinchuk. Pluses, which you won’t get on the air without a lot of money. Let them all forgive me, but this has nothing to do with freedom of speech as such. Because freedom (including speech) cannot be traded for money.

Journalists prefer to discuss politics and scandals rather than economics, as is customary in Western countries. Their economy determines policy, and not vice versa, because economic laws directly affect the life of every European, and not at all the correspondence of the prime minister with the presidential office. By the way, about the economy. In our country, the growth in the cost of products has already approached 40%, but the authorities do not care about this. For reference, I can say that in Italy inflation reached 4% in six months, and this is a huge problem for the country. It is being discussed, the authorities are developing mechanisms for overcoming the crisis. Everything is very serious. At the same time, even shampoo is included in the Italian consumer basket. And you can really live on the allowance, and not slowly starve to death, as in Ukraine.

Why are our pensions less than we need to live? After all, it is quite obvious that one person cannot live on less than 1.5 thousand hryvnia per month. Why doesn't the government raise pensions and the minimum wage to normal levels? Why did the government sentence its citizens not to live, but to survive? The draft budget is not discussed, there is no discussion on the articles - where and how much to send money. At the same time, a third of the budget is traditionally allocated for populist campaigns and actions of the party that is in power, and most of it goes to the maintenance of the government, the president, and deputies. For their recovery in the Crimea, their benefits, their salaries and pensions.

God knows what is going on with the hryvnia too. I have affirmed and continue to affirm that the real hryvnia exchange rate for today should be 3.5. With an average salary of 2,000 hryvnias and such an exchange rate, we would have long ago come out of the permanent crisis to survive and began to slowly develop. Such a course would help domestic producers, the middle class, plus reduce the cost of many services and goods, including housing prices. Where has it been seen that at a cost per square meter of $800, there are no offers on the market cheaper than $3,000? Is it normal? Do we want to live like this?

We are to blame for everything. The authorities are engaged in deriban, and the people are engaged in survival. No one wants to think about projects for the development of the country, no one is carrying out reforms. After all, reforms are always unpopular measures. We need to tighten our belts and be patient. But the people do not want to endure, and vote for those swindlers who promise more free bread and circuses.

The authorities don't want to change anything. All concern for the country comes down to populism. Right now, the entire political elite considers it their duty to go to the west and walk around in trousers that are wet to the knee, demonstrating care for the victims. But no one wants to solve the issue systematically - to create free economic zones with simplified taxation, create jobs, resettle people there and save them from natural disasters. No, the problem will not be solved. And with the next flood, they will again fly there from Kyiv on planes to promote themselves.

We don't have a social policy, we don't have an economic policy, we don't have medicine, three times more people die on our roads than in all of Europe. People die on the roads like dogs every day. The authorities consider their people to be dogs. It turns out that we have dog power.

I know they will tell me now: here, again, Brodsky is throwing mud at everyone. And in the comments they will write: you yourself are a fool and leave for your Israel. First, I'm not going anywhere. I am Ukrainian and native of Kiev. Secondly, I have spoken and will continue to speak. Let them make an idiot and a clown out of me, like the Kuchma administration (a very popular technology) - I will not be silent. It is always convenient for the authorities to have opposition in the person of Zhirinovsky.

By the way, in Russia, for all the shortcomings of the political system, the authoritarian government thinks about the people. The same roads - look and compare. Or sports. Here we are now sending our athletes to the Olympics in China. How many medals will they bring? Of course, I would like more, and I sincerely wish this to Ukrainian athletes, but I doubt it.

Because all the budget money for sports is simply stolen by numerous officials. Let me explain with the example of basketball.

At the Mechel Basketball Cup in Moscow, our team lost to Russia - 36 points, Serbia - 34, Latvia - 25. It's like 6:0 and 4:0 in football. It's a shame, because Ukraine has very strong basketball traditions, and the same Latvia has always been weaker than our team.

The Basketball Federation of Ukraine is a mess. A year ago, Zaurbek Khromaev was removed from the post of president of the Federation. First Deputy Alexander Volkov took his place. Khromaev sank to the post of Volkov, that is, in fact, they changed places. Khromaev was removed at the request of the members of the Federation, tk. For years I could not report on the money spent. Last week, a regular meeting of the Presidium took place, in which I refused to take part. I demand a transparent financial report from the leadership of the Federation. I want to understand what millions of hryvnias are spent on, which the Federation member clubs (including me) pay annually.

We pay money for the development of basketball, and functionaries from the Federation simply feed on it. Unfortunately, Alexander Anatolyevich Volkov now works as a basketball manager for RosUkrEnergo.

It's not even about the money. Money is a business. The fact is that the team enters the site under the flag of Ukraine and this flag is a disgrace. We have nothing to be proud of. I agree that strong players could not appear in a year of new leadership, but at least the attitude to sports, the concept of development, financial transparency ... Today, the situation in Ukrainian basketball is a small copy of what is happening in the state and society. Both there and there the authorities simply parasitize on us. And no one cares about national pride, sports victories.

See what's going on around Troitskoye today. At one time, this plot of 80 hectares was received by Byutovtsy from Omelchenko. Novinsky bought it from Trofimenko for 50 million. Now Novinsky is trying to sell this asset at a higher price. At market value, 80 hectares today cost at least $400 million. And everyone who has anything to do with Troitsky and Euro 2012 is trying to participate in these 80 hectares.

The question arises - why was everyone silent before and considered the construction to be legal? The Yabluko party in 2002 fought against this development. I even have a letter from Pozhivanov (at that time he was Omelchenko's deputy, and now he is a deputy from BYuT), where he writes in black and white - the construction is legal, Troitsky does not pose a threat to the safety of the fans. Now, it turns out, there is a danger. And the state will pay a lot of money for the demolition and compensation for the construction. Omelchenko, Babushkin, Pozhivanov and so on - why not bring everyone who gave the building permit to criminal liability? They stole money from the budget. But everyone is silent. Tymoshenko, the great fighter against corruption, is silent. Yushchenko is silent, because he has his own interest in this. The "regions" are silent because they cooperate with Novinsky. Everyone is silent, because everyone is an accomplice.

Ukrainians have a short memory - the people, politicians, journalists. Everyone has already forgotten about Lazarenko and his partner Tymoshenko. Forgot about the two convictions of Yanukovych. They forgot about Yushchenko's 10 steps, which he promised to fulfill when he becomes President. They forgot about Litvin's role in the Gongadze case, about how he headed ZaEda and how he became speaker through the rape of 226 deputies. They forgot about the guilt of the communists in the Holodomor and other crimes against the people. We have forgotten everything.

Unfortunately, my Italian colleague 16 years ago made an erroneous prediction. Nothing has changed in Ukraine. We need to reform and change the system. As for basketball, a number of clubs are currently negotiating the creation of a single professional Basketball Association. We will create it, hire smart managers and develop the sport ourselves. No one will be able to feed from this table and create the appearance of work. We will do this because many of us sports enthusiasts have an understanding of the necessary reforms and the will to implement them. Do the people of Ukraine have a will? I came to the conclusion that the point is not that the elite is not ready to lead Ukraine into a united Europe. The fact is that people themselves are not ready to go there.

P.S.: Tonight, when I was finishing the article, I received a message from the Basketball Federation of Ukraine. The Provolkovskaya majority at the meeting of the Presidium adopted a new regulation, despite the resistance of the opposition. According to the new rules, contrary to common sense and world experience, clubs are allowed to field nine foreigners per application. Clubs are also not required to have at least one Ukrainian on the site. In the same Russia there is a rule - at least two Russians in the application during the game. They understand that otherwise their team will never become strong. As a result, Russia is the champion of Europe.

We insisted that during the year there should be no more than seven foreigners in the application, plus at least one Ukrainian player. And next year - no more than six foreigners on the court and at least two Ukrainian players. To top it off, the Federation raised the down payment to $50,000.

All decisions taken by the Federation benefit only two Ukrainian clubs - Azovmash and BC Kyiv. And this despite the fact that the budget of these clubs is greater than all the rest combined. In addition, these clubs keep black books and do not pay all taxes. By the way, I would like to ask Mr. Volkov - where did the 18 hectares of land allocated by the decision of the previous city council for the construction of a gym go? Wouldn't it turn out - completely by chance - that Alexander Anatolyevich would get a house on these hectares, and the rest of the area would be used for building supermarkets and housing stock?

I also state that Messrs. Volkov and Khromaev serve the interests of RosUkrEnergo, not Ukrainian basketball. They still have not submitted reports for 2006 and 2007. I'm sure they don't intend to report on the 2008 budget either.
