The team seems invincible, but problems could hit them

What will be the final cost of returning Kevin Durant and losing James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets.

There are no draws in basketball, but there are plenty of attractions, and today the main one of them is the Brooklyn Nets. Last night, the club once again confirmed this in a match against New Orleans. The battle of the titans did not work out, the Nets with Kevin Durant, who returned from injury, made Zion Williamson and the Pelicans look like a flock of cormorants at best, the southerners lost - 111:139.

Durant, who has been expected since the beginning of February, should be mentioned separately. The forward came off the bench for 19 minutes and cut the Pelicans with almost surgical precision: 17 points (5 of 5 from the field, 2 of 2 three-pointers, 5 of 5 free throws), 7 rebounds, 5 assists.

If not for 6 losses, KD's performance could be called perfect. Especially given that Durant wasn't going to be brought back at this stage. With a huge number of matches and their intensity, clubs that have previously saved their stars for the playoffs are using every opportunity this year to hold on to their leaders and bring them to their peak form at the end of the season.

Something similar is now observed in the Lakers and absolutely the same was with Durant until the moment his correspondence with Michael Rapaport became public. The actor himself presented the dialogue on Twitter, which instantly split the public into two camps. One side began to blaspheme Rapaport for violating the unspoken code and posting personal data to the public, and the other to castigate Durant for boorish behavior with a switch to personalities and mockery of the Rapoport family.

Then there was the snot and drool of 51-year-old Rapoport on a live sports show, where he complained that the media community despised him, as well as Durant's apology on Twitter and a fine of 50,000 from the NBA. The situation is the most shameful for each of the participants in this mess.

In order to somehow slow down the near-basketball hype around Durant, the club and the PR environment of the basketball player had to show a positive informational occasion. That's what Kevin's return was like. In the information field, the move has already justified itself, and now the most interesting thing is coming - the process of observing how much Durant has recovered and whether the decision to return prematurely from the Nets will play a cruel joke.

Especially since Brooklyn's most important player, James Harden, was out for at least two weeks. Harden is the most important element of Brooklyn due to its systemic nature. Of the whole trinity, it is Beard who creates moments for his partners with the highest percentage of efficiency.

https://twitter. com/legoatedone/status/1378114964444024835

Of course, Kyrie Irving can create shooting moment through dribbling, and Durant thanks to size, but all this takes time and effort, Harden finds partners in team in the most comfortable conditions for them - without guardianship, in the space from where they attack most accurately, and this applies to everyone, not just Irving and Durant. It was under Harden that high-quality static shooter Joe Harris began to show crazy numbers and eventually became the leader in NBA history in three-point shooting percentage (48.9%), making at least six attempts per match.

https://twitter.com/thescore/status/1379542626039398405

And now Beard has sat down for at least two weeks with a very unpleasant diagnosis - a hamstring sprain. This is a very tricky injury, the duration of recovery from which does not imply exact terms, and most often doctors agree that the longer it is treated, the better. Actually, even now there is no information about the return, in two weeks a second MRI will be performed.

So Brooklyn may be left without its bearded conductor for a long time, which means that Kyrie and Durant will have to strain and drag for two. No one doubts that they will be able to, the main question is what it will cost.

The main thing about the calendar of the 74th championship of the best league in the world.

Last night, Moscow time, the NBA released the schedule for the 2019/20 season. We, as always, are promised that the 74th championship will be even better than the 73rd. It’s hard to imagine now, especially if you remember what a fiery playoff took place this spring in the USA (and Canada, this now definitely needs to be added). But now comes the magical time when the next season is getting closer than the previous one. Transfer bombs exploded, forums and social networks are filled with comments from haters who are dissatisfied with the next transfer of Kevin Durant or Kawhi Leonard. Nothing new.

“Cats are chasing mice. Dogs are chasing cats. It has always been this way and it will always be this way,” said the black cat from the cartoon “A Kitten Named Woof” in the voice of the great Vasily Livanov. To continue the topic, we can say that mid-August is always the time when not the players are hated, but the calendar. But there are moments in it that you will definitely like.

The number of situations where clubs play two days in a row (and therefore tend to rest the stars in one of these matches) has decreased again - now there will be an average of 12.4 per team. Last season it was 13.3, five years ago it was 19.3.

For the third consecutive season, no team will have to play 4 matches in 5 days.

In the fight for an audience from the East Coast of the United States, the league will reduce the number of games that start at 22:30 New York time (usually games in California or Portland, which at that time only have 19:thirty). For fans from the European part of Russia, on the contrary, this is not very good: earlier it was possible to wake up at 6:30 and watch some game in its entirety while getting ready / driving to work. More matches will now start at 5:30 AM and 6 AM CET instead (4:30 AM and 5 AM for short periods at the start and end of the season when DST is in the US).

More matches for Europe

But especially for fans from Europe, Africa and the Middle East, the NBA is majorly shifting the schedule to the weekend. Now, almost every Saturday and Sunday, part of the games will start in the afternoon, so that in Europe they can be watched at a sane time and not sacrifice sleep. During the season, 48 matches will be played in prime time European time. And the night, no matter how old you are, can be spent on something more interesting.

Season Opening Day

October 22

Toronto - New Orleans. Champion vs. 2019 No. 1 pick Zion Williamson.

Clippers - Lakers. No more waiting for Christmas to see the Los Angeles Derby. There are four of them in the regular season, and the first one will take place two and a half hours after the start of the season. LeBron James and Anthony Davis vs. Past Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and their new gang.

Anthony Davis and LeBron James / Photo: © Ethan Miller / Staff / Getty Images Sport / Gettyimages.ru Both teams have super beginners. Not like Durant and Davis, of course, but Al Horford and Kemba Walker (8 All-Stars for two) are fine too.

Portland - Denver. A repeat of one of the most fiery playoff streaks of last season. Portland then won in seven games.

24 October

Houston - Milwaukee. The best players of the last three seasons: Russell Westbrook, James Harden and Giannis Antetokounmpo - in one match.

Golden State - Clippers. Again Kawhi against the Warriors, like in the 2019 finals. It will also be the first Golden State match at the new arena in San Francisco.

October 25

New Orleans - Dallas. Last season's top rookie Luka Doncic vs 2020 potential rookie top Zion Williamson.

Christmas

Toronto - Boston. The Raptors' first home Christmas game. Still champions. They have a right.

Philadelphia - Milwaukee. There have been no Christmas games in the first US capital since 1988.

Golden State - Houston. Everything is clear here - a classic. They have met in four of the last five playoffs.

Lakers - Clippers. Also traditional.

Denver - New Orleans. The last Christmas meeting here was at 1994 year.

What other dates should be circled in the calendar

November 27th. Two top matches at once and two returns: Boston - Brooklyn (Kyrie Irving will play on the Celtics site for the first time after the transition) and New Orleans - Lakers (Anthony Davis against his native club, where he spent his entire career ).

December 11th. Toronto - Clippers. Kawhi Leonard, who brought the championship to Canada in June, will play at his former home arena for the first time.

January 9th. Oklahoma City - Houston. Another return. Russell Westbrook - for the first time on the Thunder site as a guest.
