The Russian national basketball team played the last match of the qualifying tournament for the 2003 European Championship this year. Unfortunately, Sergei Elevich's wards lost in Slovenia with a score of 76-82.

The match in Maribor was the third for our team in the last two weeks. Unfortunately, in two out of three matches the Russian team lost. Only after the first quarter, Sergei Elevich's wards were leading - 20-19. However, before the big break, the Slovenes not only equalized the score, but also went ahead by 5 points. In the future, the Russian team failed to turn the tide of the meeting, which led to the defeat. Our team lost in rebounds, not the best way the Russians threw on the ring because of the three-point line.
